I could tell IMMEDIATELY from the visual style and combat that this was from the same studio that brought us Astral Chain and by the time Jake was finished describing the narrative, it was confirmed in my mind that it was defiantly Astral Chain without the chimeras...and I'm 100% here for it. I just hope that the game has a character creator similar to that of AC because nothing made me smile more in that game than the fact that I was able to create and play as "Black" anime siblings.
Spoilers: it's not the same studio. Platinum games is the name of the studio that made astral chain. This game is made by an internal Bandai Namco team.
@@bruhder5854 Crap! You could have fooled me. They must have either had some of the creators from AC's dev team work on this or they worked in tandem with them because otherwise...it's very nearly a shameless rip off. And be-that-the-case, I'm dumbfounded that Jake didn't mention how similar the two titles are.
Played this game in 2022 as Kasane and decided to finally play through the Yuito campaign. I was genuenly curious if the game was as good as i remember and... this game is a fricking masterpiece. I've never seen a game be so perfect in every regard with only small issues here and there. The combat, plot, characters, setting - hell, the music is awesome too! One of my favourite things about the game is how it subverts expectations: at first it all seems like a bunch of anime cliches strapped together: Child soldiers with superpowers, monsters that look like an unholy amalgamation of random stuff, childhood friend in love with the deadbeat protagonist... But it all works so well that eventually you no longer think of them as cliches. They have this drug that makes soldiers young - seems like just a justification to include teen girls as soldiers, but these drugs become a part of multiple plotlines. Theres this guy that got drafted at early age so he desperately tries to gain muscle to almost no result. another worries that when they stop giving him this drug his brain will deteriorate... They make such things look natural, as if they weren't added for some superficial reason, but are actually a crucial part of this world. The characters are the same: there is a tsundere. Seems like a common character archetype, but as you interact with this character more, you actually learn the reason why they're like this and see them go through an entire arc becoming a more pleasant person. They don't just slap a bunch of archetypes, they take these archetypes as starting points and then deepen them to the point that not only do the characters feel human, you also attach to them. That's actually the main reason why i decided to replay the game in 2024 - i actually missed the characters. They're that good. Speaking of characters, the combat mechanics revolve around them. You have your standart slasher mechanics and telekinesis, which have some awesome combos by themselves, but the actual depth comes from the SAS system. Basically, your team can support youwith their abilities, temporarily giving you teleportation, superspeed or even just damage bonuses. Once you gain the ability to activate four of them at the same time, you can defeat anything and everything in mere seconds assuming you learnt how to use and combine the abilities. These abilities also strengthen as you interact with characters. You can go on "bonding stories" between the chapters. This not only helps you learn about the characters more, but gives you bonuses like the characters making combos together with you, or just enhancing their SAS abilities. This kind of makes sense - of course you can work as a team better if you know each other more And finally the plot: politics, apocalypse, illuminati-esque world conspiracies, drama, trauma, betrayal, friendship... Again, it all sounds cliche, but all of the themes are combined in such a way that you just don't see it as cliche. You've got to play it yourself to understand what im talking about Holy shit, that's an entire essay... Anyway, TL:DR you must play this game. I recommend playing the Kasane campaign first, as it is superior in most ways, and also: play through at least 2/3 of the game before dropping as that's roughly the point when the plot and character development get really good
I really enjoyed the demo, and was actually mad when it ended. Definitely buying it but maybe later because I have quite a few games in my backlog I have to finish

Bought Day One and have been having a blast so far. Would definitely recommend Kasane's story first due to it being a bit better at explaining certain things that is kind of just left hanging for ya boi Yuito.
My only gripe is how the cutscenes play out as if it was a comic. I’d expected motion as if it were a show in video game when it gets to the scene when the cadets banter but other than that I’m loving the game. Playing it and seeing where the story goes makes me come back.
Yeah, this game looks pretty sick. It's kind of weird, although understandable from a story perspective on them removing character creation tools - Code Vein's character creation had to be by far the best I have *ever* seen in a video game. You could change the *eye reflections patterns*, dude!

Just finished one of the protagonist’s story yesterday and I think it is worth the money and the 40 hours. The combat is the star of this game and is quite intense, especially when you get to use the other protagonist’s platoon along with yours, the SAS mechanic is outstanding. The OST is the cherry on top, it’s so good that I lowered the other sounds just so I can hear it. It also speeds up along with Brain Drive! It’s very comparable to platinum games overall. The environment is mostly indoor. It’s just some road, railroads and more roads, the rest has great scenery though Togetsu for example where I just admired some of the views. Enemy designs are so unique that its sometimes incomprehensible. a lamp with some feet? humanoid house? a carousel with an elephant head? The way they design it is more scarier than what is described. Now for the story, I agree that the common anime tropes kinda ruin it to the point that the characters themselves become uninteresting. but despite all that I still enjoyed the story, it just gets better the more you dig into it. The most hate goes into here and in my opinion its not that bad lol but i guess its also their opinion. This is one of those games that I didn’t skip the end credits on so that I could savor it until the last moment. So yeah this game is definitely a must try. I hope they make a sequel of this game and get some more recognition this year because this game is just hella underrated despite some of it’s flaws.
@@alphozerra3635 it actually took me 50 hours instead of 40, and those hours are just one of the campaigns. So in total the entire game is about 80-100 hours long.

This game is a mix between Nier Automata, Sword Art Online, .Hack, and Devil May Cry. I am genuinely loving this game and the story is surprisingly very good.
Same here. I'm itching for something new, but I'm hesitant. I started like a dragon, but I prefer action over turn based. A sell would make it a easy decision.
It is incredibly fun to play and quite unique in the battle scenes. Its not just a button mash game but one where you have to use your abilities and also your allies to defeat the enemies otherwise it will take a long time. Also the style is similar to Persona 5 with its flashy animations, especially at 60fsp on the PS5. The only issue is they do a weird still frame speech animation for most cutscenes where its just two characters portraits talking. Still worth the price and im happy Bandai Namco made this game and hope it gets a sequel.
I started it last night got to level 15 and had to force myself to go to bed. Combat is so fun and flies great. Story is just wow! Only drawback for me is the still frame story telling it kind of takes away from some of the coolness. Felt kind of like they just didn’t want to animate some cool fight scenes.
I don’t usually play these games but I think I’ll give it a go. I have so much backlog and trying to stay away from bigger open games. To try and finish some smaller games.
@@Batman65410 There is nothing unique about the gameplay its just another jrpg heck its literally the same art style as God Eater, Code Vein among countless anime Bandai Namco titles considering its the same producer so there is nothing unique about it
From what I’ve played so far I think I’d give Scarlet Nexus either a 7.5 or 8. It’s definitely a good game with fun combat. I’ve been looking forward to Scarlet Nexus for a while now. I was looking up more Tales games to play and Scarlet popped up, also by Banco, with some of the tales team and the team from Code Vein leading the project. Saw the first gameplay trailer and I was sold. I mean I had already like Code Vein so I was probably gonna get it anyway but that gameplay sealed the deal. As for the style of Scarlet Nexus, I think the developers were calling it “Psi-Punk”, a mix of psychic powers and brain augmentation with a touch of post-post Apocalyptic kinda like Horizon Zero Dawn; where the Apocalypse happened already and we coming into the world years after where they’ve rebuilt society and has been established for a couple hundred years or something like that. From the moment you start the game you can clearly see why they call it. Playing it right now and I’m really enjoying it, granted I’m only a little over 3 hours in. The combat is definitely interesting and kinda reminds me of Nier: Automata slowed down little bit. My only complaint so far is that a lot of the cutscenes that are for exposition are kind of like a slide show. Like, literally like let’s say a character is running to catch up to someone well you see a still frame of them running, and theres voice over and then it’ll switch to another slide. There’s some of them in the video. Unfortunately, lot of the cutscene that I’ve seen so far are like that. Rather than just animating the cutscenes they decided to go this slide show route. It does kinda throws a wrench in the presentation. Which I find odd because it’s the same director for the Tales series and Code Vein, and those games have really good presentation cutscene quality. It’s just a stylistic choice that I wouldn’t have made and wish that they hadn’t made either. That being said it’s not a bad game and the story and setting are genuinely intriguing. Like I can’t find to find out more about the lore of how the powers work and how the hell humanity found themselves in this situation. If you like Code Vein, Tales of Zestiria, Ys, or Nier, I recommend given it a shot.
I've been enjoying the game so far. I like the combat and visual look a lot. Though I'd say that I'm not a fan of how unclear things can be at times with characters. By that I mean people vanish and then you don't know what happened. Then you get a random message from them and you're supposed to just know what happened. But overall as I mentioned I enjoy it, I was expecting another Souls-Like game and I was very happy to find out it wasn't.

the camera is what turn me down most, when u lock on an enemy, the camera is fixed in a weird angle that I can barely see these other enemies even this is TP gameplay, and the lock on system only target the enemy for psy attacks, not for normal attacks, which means you have to direct your atks with keyboard/controller but with limit camera angle. Finished the game 100%. Definitely worth a play if you enjoy the genre. Once you upgrade the skill tree it makes the combat really satisfying and you can make quick work of even the hardest enemies. What he said about the SAS is true, playing around with the character mapping opened the combat up for really unique styles of taking enemies out, like using teleport and hypervelocity to run through a whole wave of enemies like a badass lol.
When you get into the subway section in the game. Thats when the story starts to kick into gear. It gets wild after that.
Mmmmm
I’m about 2-3 hours into Kasane’s campaign so far, and I’m loving this game! The combat is a lot of fun and I’m enjoying the story. That said, there are a few things that stop it from being a 10/10 so far for me, but it’s a solid game that I’ll definitely continue to enjoy nonetheless!

This kind of makes sense - of course you can work as a team better if you know each other more
And finally the plot: politics, apocalypse, illuminati-esque world conspiracies, drama, trauma, betrayal, friendship... Again, it all sounds cliche, but all of the themes are combined in such a way that you just don't see it as cliche. You've got to play it yourself to understand what im talking about
Holy shit, that's an entire essay... Anyway, TL:DR you must play this game. I recommend playing the Kasane campaign first, as it is superior in most ways, and also: play through at least 2/3 of the game before dropping as that's roughly the point when the plot and character development get really good

I feel like everything from 4:00 to 4:40 he’s just describing every good old day final fantasy game ever

It's a good game. I think I'm worried about 4 hours in. Combat system is good, musical score is cool, story is solid as well. The only meh for me is the menu interface and items aren't very intuitive. But it's very typical with JRPG. By far one of my favorites from Bandaid Namco.
Citizens of Earth
Your video help me make my decision. Just bought it for 19$
Is it good?
@@s.shlagen9773 I think it is. If you don’t mind JRPG’s and hack & Slash.
i often watch your videos and this is probably one of the best. i've been eyeballing this game and you have convinced me more it'll be worth it
