    Another very helpful video Gard. I really appreciate that you take the time to make these "How To" videos. As a real neophyte with the Beyond (and RVs in general), you really make it look easy. Thanks! We just brought home our new Beyond 22D Li3 yesterday, so we are in the overload zone on learning. Thanks. Be well, be safe. George in FL.

    Your knees are a lot better than mine! I use a foam gardening kneeling pad. I use Bluettes heavy duty rubber gloves for a better grip on the connectors. Perhaps I am overly cautious, but I open the gray tank valve first briefly to check if both the connections are secure. Then I close it and open the black tank valve. I haven’t had any accidents yet, but I would rather spray gray water around than black water!

    • @CampingCoastie
      @CampingCoastie  4 года назад +2

      My knees hurt real bad, I just try and bear the pain as much as possible. I was to get down one time, then you notice I just bend and reach for the black tank handle.
      I like your ideal about checking first with a little gray. Thanks.

    When filling the tank with the fresh flush water, you can use your tank monitors to fill the tank (it reads in 5% increments). On RV's that don't have monitors, look under your rig and note where the top of your tank is, then to get it near full, you simply pick up the center of the hose (as the tank is filling) to a height just below the tank height and when you can see it pouring out drop the hose and you will get a relatively complete flush.

  • @karinwest919
    @karinwest919 4 месяца назад

    it is great that you can store the hose outside with that connector on it. Our Winnebago View tube was not large enough for that, so pretty much worthless. How often do you have to dump on average with those smaller tanks, @campingcoastie?

    • @CampingCoastie

      We usually go between 5 and 7 days before dumping.

    I was wondering how long it normally takes to fill your black and grey tanks. Do you miss the extra capacity and the shower on the Pleasure Way? I was thinking about selling my Pleasure Way Pursuit for a smaller B size but its hard to tell how practical these smaller black and gray tanks are. I like to take a shower everyday in my motorhome and I don't want to rely on using the campground bathrooms.

    • @CampingCoastie
      @CampingCoastie  4 года назад +3

      We don't shower every day my wife does every other day and me about every three or four days. I use a lot of body wipes to clean up some. That said, we can go usually 5 to 8 days before needing to dump and fill.

    • @CampingCoastie

      Black followed by grey. I make sure to have plenty of grey to flush the hose. Sometimes I rinse the big hose with freshwater, but only if needed.

    Glad to see you made it home safe! I just did a trial run with our new beyond before week take off for a couple of week Northwest adventure and was wondering what do you set your water temperature at? I had mine on Eco and the water wasn't warm at all so I must be doing something wrong. Can you run me through what you do to get hot water?

    • @CampingCoastie
      @CampingCoastie  4 года назад +1

      Thanks, nice to be home. As for hot water, Eco makes the water about 104 degrees, Hot about 140 and Boost about 145.
      Setting it to Hot and giving it about 20 to 30 minutes should give you some good hot water.

I then filled the tank from my freshwater tank and water pump. I am going to let it sit like that with the Blue Power treatment in it for about a week. Then drain it again.

    Very helpful video . Appreciate it. Basic question - When you said in a reply that you closed off your home water faucet and finished filling the black tank with water using the water pump from your fresh water tank - HOW DO YOU DO THAT?

    • @CampingCoastie
      @CampingCoastie  4 года назад +1

      With my water pump on I took the bathroom sink sprayer and used it to fill the toilet bowl. Then I would just flush the toilet as it filled up.
      You can also do it by just holding down the flush pedal on the toilet. But that can be stinky if your ceiling exhaust fan is on.

    • @MJim-ko3hd
      @MJim-ko3hd 4 года назад

      Camping Coastie Got it. I thought you were saying it was something you were doing from the outside of the RV. LOL. Also could you clarify -. Do you use 2 different hoses for when you connect to City water vs.the fresh water tank or is the same hose OK?

    • @CampingCoastie
      @CampingCoastie  4 года назад +1

      The two water hoses that you need are one for drinking water and one for black tank flushing.
      The drinking water hose is the one you use for both the freshwater tank fill and the city water connection. You want that clean, never come in contact with the black tank flushing hose or the big black tank drain hose.

    Many thanks for another informative video. We are waiting on our delivery of the 2021 Li3 model. Your videos are schooling us in the many things we need to learn to operate our new Beyond. THANK YOU!!! We are wondering about winterizing and use of the RV during the winter months. We are told that locally people winterize around Thanksgiving. We are wondering if we want to take a short trip and use the water tanks during the winter by driving to a warmer location (we live in TN and if say we want to go to FL for a 10 day trip during the winter) Is this easly managable? Can we dewinterize at a camp ground easliy and can we rewinterize easily at a campground before we return home? During Covid we are wanting to use the RV shower and toliet. What is the lowest temperature that you will have water in your RV system?

    • @CampingCoastie
      @CampingCoastie  4 года назад

      Glad to help. I will make a video on winterizing later in the season. It's not hard to do. Just simple steps.
      And thanks for supporting my channel.

    • @CampingCoastie
      @CampingCoastie  4 года назад +1

      Basically to winterize for mild climates where the temperature drops into the high 20s at night and warms up to above freezing during the day is pretty simple.
      Drain freshwater tank, open low point drains, open drain on Truma, drain black and gray tanks.
      You can also use a small air compressor to blow out any remaining water.
      Pour some RV antifreeze in the drain traps.
      I will make a video later.

    • @CampingCoastie
      @CampingCoastie  4 года назад +1

      If you are staying in your RV then I would assume you would want the interior heated. Most of the components are inside, the only items outside is the freshwater tank and the black/gray tank drains. Mild freezing overnight and above freezing during the day is usually not a problem.

    Hello All, I don’t think our Dealer is giving us a starter kit. They said they will give us a gift card for their parts department. What type of sewer hose do you recommend? I noticed you hooked the hose up directly to the coach, do you not need a pressure regulator? I was thinking, I’ve got a bad back and it’s getting harder to bend down. Do you think a small piece of mirrored plexiglass glass would help see the valves? Thanks

    • @CampingCoastie
      @CampingCoastie  3 года назад

      I like the hose in the video, I cut it to the maximum link that fit in my holder. Definitely use a water pressure regulator, mine is attached at the very beginning of my hose. That makes it pressure regulator, short flex hose, water filter and then water hose. Reaching the gray tank valve is not to hard, but the black tank handle is a bit tough. I usually have to drop on one knee to be able to reach it. I have thought about adding an electric gate on the black tank, maybe even one on the gray tank.

    Great videos just one question what is the Tow rating on your rig?

    • @CampingCoastie
      @CampingCoastie  4 года назад

      It has a 5,000 pound hitch, but how much it can tow depends on how much is loaded in the van. I have heard that it is usually about 3,500 pounds towing capacity. I haven't weighed my Beyond loaded yet. I really need to.

    Thanks for sharing. Does the van needs to be pretty level?

    • @CampingCoastie
      @CampingCoastie  3 года назад

      The compressor refrigerator doesn't really need to be level. The only reason the van needs to be reasonably level is for the shower and sink drains. That and walking and sleeping comfort. I carry a couple of leveling blocks but haven't hardly used them.

    • @CampingCoastie
      @CampingCoastie  3 года назад +1

      Ideally just a little higher on the passenger side. Doesn't need to be perfectly level, just close to level when dumping.
      The most important thing is to have the black tank full or at least almost full. That will give a good and fast flush to remove any solids.
