I had a small square base one time and randomly at night it was attacked by a wandering animal horde. 4 or 5 zombie dogs and 2 zombie bears. The 2 bears managed to clip somewhat through the walls and hit me and killed me rather quickly. This was on night 6 lmao
Yes, the bear clipping is pretty stupid, I have not measured it exactly, but, for walls and fences, those things can clip and hit for a least 2+? blocks or so. Most times, the bears will get hung up on any fences I build, but it is ALWAYS a good idea to keep your distance even if it looks like they cant reach you. I either stab them with my spear (can get hit!) or just shoot them while they are hung up on the fence to be safe.
Yeah. The first time I played I found my first vulture at the top of a ladder. It knocked me off the ladder, breaking my leg, as well as doing an abrasion, a deep bleed, and infection. It really didn't matter after the fall, being my first game, but I hate those things to this day.

Man. This truly is rare, only had one spawn once in a downtown wasteland city right after I finished a poi, was only at game stage 100 and scared the shit out of me.
Demos spawning in downtown areas was an addition in A20. They have an extremely low spawn chance. It does not scale with game stage, so it can happen day 1 but not likely.
I don’t know why but this has happened to me on multiple occasions on the wastelands. A vulture will fly around me but will only attack when I get damage. I played 300hrs of this game and I can say there is something special about the AI of the vulture depending on the area it’s at. Like vultures on the desert will spawn randomly near you and attack immediately. Vultures in POI will only attack when they detect you and Vultures in the wasteland will only attack you when you are damaged.
I agree, most vultures will just fly over and not attack if at full health. Take a bit of damage though and they track you down. At least that's what I have experienced.
@@stevdor6146Yeah, same. They typically just hover around for a while until you look away. Luckily, even on higher difficulties, vultures are weak as shit and will get one tapped by a pipe pistol.
I also noticed that back in 20 you could be at full health but if your vehicle was damaged they would attack. Repair it to full heal and they would stop until it, or you, were damaged again even if just 1 point. This is no longer the case in 1.0 as they now only attack in the wild if you have damage and ignore vehicle damage.
The vultures won’t auto aggro your when you’re out and about if you are at full health. As soon as you take so much as one point of damage they come a cawwin
@@bydlaq I thought he is Scottish. His accent sounds (to me) a lot like Dean from 1Bike1World. Dean is bilingual with a Celtic language and tends to clip some vowels. I asked Izzy but he aint sayin.
Have encountered a couple of demos out in the wild during A20, but as you noted, it's insanely rare. Once we had one roll up on us at the T3 Shotgun Messiah store POI in a desert town. Almost all the other encounters were in wasteland cities (unsurprisingly). I am pretty sure zombie dogs could be irradiated prior to the model/skin update they received in A19 or A20 (I forget which tbh).
6:57 - Screamers have a chance to spawn if you hit just 25% heat now, as of version 1.0, which really caught me off-guard the first time. Also, two of them can spawn, AND they can be irradiated. If you're lucky though, nothing will spawn, and you'll still get a nice long cooldown before heat can start to build again.
I've seen Demo zombies in the wild twice. The first one (actually my first Demo ever) found me upstairs when I was overnighting in O'Malley Oats, I had no idea WTF it was and it ended... poorly. The second one was just a couple of days ago, wandering around Gravestown outside a quest I had just finished. Deliberately triggering that button was a lot less stressful than trying to avoid it on horde night.
I've been playing on a custom map that is all city, all wasteland for about 6 months and I've seen them in the wild 4 or 5 times. Before that, never saw them. First time it happened it scared the hell out of me.
Game was rude to me and my friend the other day. A zombie bear appeared on day 2 at a house construction poi. Luckily, it was in a pit, so it was like shooting fish in a barrel... if those fish weighed a ton and could tolerate 20-30 shotgun shells to the head and over 100 stone arrows.
By changing some settings you can make it so all Zombies will running or walk. You can also make all zombies have the same feral sense. My favorite mode set up is, Insane mode, all zombies run during day & night. And the feral setting is always on high. Tho my blood moons do last 7 days. (Ps5)
I hate vultures but LOVE there design. Not only does it make sense a dead eating bird would zombify but they only attack you when you take damage or enter their poi and they circle above you. I just got done looting a shotgun messiah and look up to see this vulture just circling and thought the game added crows or something only to have it dive bomb me after taking a few hit. This game is a gem
For those who might want to avoid, or want to see a Demo zombie earlier on than usual, one ALWAYS spawns on the upper roof of the Favales Academy PoI. Gave me a real scare on day 5 when i was checking out the roof, luckily you can jump down and he will probably fall over, making it easy to blow him up
I've been a long time console player and only moderately recent convert to the pc version (albeit on a gaming laptop). To my knowledge vultures only attack if a player is missing at least 10% of their maximum health. Also something I have noticed about normal zombies is that I THINK construction workers do more damage to blocks and on higher difficulties the zombies wearing hoodies have noticably more health especialy early on when you only have basic weapons.
@@rembrandtshadows Screamers spawn to investigate excessive player activity and noise. explosions, gunfire, mining, chopping trees, and crafting all contribute to them spawning.
Animal tracker works on dire wolves, i moved to the waste land and only just noticed it. Regular vultures that are found in the wild only attack if you have lost any health.
I love the irradiated zombies. Super creepy, and its better they're just in POIs because I think their job is to just blow up blocks around them to let the zombies in. Works good in certain ones. They could use a little more work around that idea I think.
Nice guide, thank you. Demo zombies. I did get a random encounter(1) on a custom map recently. One of the (very) fews times I encountered one in a non-horde setting. It might have happened once or twice otherwise and ive forgotten. But like you say, definitely rare, but it can occur. I doubt I will see that again for a while, unless 21 changes spawn mechanics in some way.
This is anecdotal, but it seems like Z. Dogs don't get slowed down or stopped by barb wire or spike traps. Could be they just move so fast that it doesn't seem like it or the mod I'm using that lets me pick up traps messed it up, but I play on an all wasteland, all city map and the way they ignore traps is absolutely brutal early game.
Definitely sounds like your mods are messing with it. I play unmodded 7DtD and the Zombie Dogs do get stuck on barbed wire and spike traps. It's almost mandatory you have about a dozen spike traps ready to go in your hotbar during the first two weeks in the game to stop Zombies and Zombie Dogs from bum-rushing you before you manage to find yourself some automatic firearms.
i would only add for vultures that they seem to have very high chance for bleeding effect in alpha 21, almost always when you get hit by this enemy you bleed. That make them dangerous on any difficulty even on easiest. If you dont have any bandages you can bleed for high dmg
AskPrebuilt: when playing 7days how you normally do, do you stick to one design for a horde base or do you switch it up? can you show examples of your horde base?
I just want to remind everyone when he says Heat he doesnt mean temperature. A "heat map" is used to show how much activity is in an area. If you dont know what a heat map is, look it up. This mechanic will make more sense if you do. like he said, shooting guns, having work stations active and light sources all generate "heat" aka activity. (not heat as in hot)
I don't remember which video talks about this but to add onto your thing Campfires add 5 heat per hour when on and the heat meter is roughly 100 before a screamer almost definitely will spawn And fun fact mining while "sneaking" raises your heat less than when you mine normally
I am pretty sure they've changed the heat mechanics in v 1.0. I have only a single forge running consistently at my base. A single forge isn't enough to push the heat threshold over 100% for the chunk. I don't use firearms so it's my ONLY heat generator. Every other day or so, 2 screamers will drop by. A forge should, at most, generate 30% max heat. Meaning, I should be able to have 3 of them running full time without crossing that 100% threshold. However, a single one seems to be sufficient to call in screamers. I wonder if heat generation needs to be revisited for Version 1.0
I'm guessing that the mutant zombies work better as support for other zombies. You might get hit as a beginner when fighting medium sized hoardes by their spit, like Enter the Gungeon has enemies that shoot 2 projectiles 45 degrees off each side of the player, making them worthless until they're with a group
Noticed something interesting with regards to demo zombies. I think A21 has changed them somehow to be invulnerable to head shots. I've tried SMG's, Sniper Rifles and arrows and shooting them in the head seems to have no effect. As soon as I go for a leg, they start staggering and taking damage. Anyone else see something like this?
In every run i played on alpha 20, world spawned vultures only attacked me when i was injured. I remenber bein inmediately attacked in alpha19 when i was on a vehicle but not a single time in this alpha.
my trio just finished the Day 49 Bloodmoon on Nomad difficulty, and got our first ever Demolishers in it (around 5 of them spawned in total), but we've been seeing Irradiated zombies since around Day 21.
Those mutated ones are way more dangerous now than said here, on regular difficulty one of these almost killed me in 2 hits with a full set of lv3 nerd armor (heavy) it was only 1 and I was at 138 hp
Great video buddy . It literally answered every question I had about all zombies ... "They are dogs / they run fast" ... I could picture you giving some the "bitch face" as someone asks you how fast the dogs run as you roll your eyes saying to yourself " I wish a zombie dog would attack this guy" haha.
About the vultures I'm playing a21 right now the b324 I think version. I ended up going to the desert, and I was perfectly good health and then the minute I took damage in the desert I have four vultures spawn and attack me very noticeable so I think there is something there with the vultures I just don't know what and they came from out of nowhere too
I notice when vultures "stalk" you by circling you they aren't actually aggro'd onto you but it would probably give everyone seeing it the first time the impression that it does. And that may actually be why it seems like it attacks when you are weak, when you engage in combat with another zombie while the vulture is lurking overhead, something like gunfire or some other quirk with the stealth system causes them to get aggro'd onto you while you are in the heat of battle - probably still a rumour but I've had it happen to me on 2 occasions that made the thought occur to me because it was just way too coincidental that it decided to strike after you get hit/crit by another zombie.
@@stevdor6146 Firing my pipe machine gun "warning shots" at vulture and doesn't bat an eye, walk over trash and everybody loses their mind Jk but of course in all likelihood it could just be remembering all the times a vulture attack has been most inconvenient, which would be when you're trying to fight other things.
What if you dig a long tunnel to fit a motorcycle through and make it long enough to drive through during the entirety of horde night? Would the vultures be able to swarm you?

However, a single one seems to be sufficient to call in screamers. I wonder if heat generation needs to be revisited for Version 1.0
I'm guessing that the mutant zombies work better as support for other zombies. You might get hit as a beginner when fighting medium sized hoardes by their spit, like Enter the Gungeon has enemies that shoot 2 projectiles 45 degrees off each side of the player, making them worthless until they're with a group
Now that console got it's new version I was surprised to see all the new differences like the fact that the bees are just gone
“Vultures are the only flying enemy in the game”
Console players remember the bigass bees that would spawn in cities. Hated those things.
Today I learned just how intimidating the biker zombies really are.
The autoshotty takes off their head on insane ( I was specced into shotty if that helps) 1-2 shots and their heads pop off
In every run i played on alpha 20, world spawned vultures only attacked me when i was injured. I remenber bein inmediately attacked in alpha19 when i was on a vehicle but not a single time in this alpha.
just did day 14 horde last night, my group about 4 of us got about 7 demos and most types of irradiated zombies, normal game settings as well
my trio just finished the Day 49 Bloodmoon on Nomad difficulty, and got our first ever Demolishers in it (around 5 of them spawned in total), but we've been seeing Irradiated zombies since around Day 21.
ASKPREBUILT: You think you could just stream and show us all these types of zombies?
what about radiated boars? those are HUGE!
Would love an updated version of this for the 1.0 release.
Those mutated ones are way more dangerous now than said here, on regular difficulty one of these almost killed me in 2 hits with a full set of lv3 nerd armor (heavy) it was only 1 and I was at 138 hp
Very informative video thanks!
3:03 Yes, *We all agree on this* 💀
IzP: thanks for another great video.
Do zombies have an avoidance program when you aim at them? Sometimes it seems like they do.
thank you for a detailed guide.
I ended up going to the desert, and I was perfectly good health and then the minute I took damage in the desert I have four vultures spawn and attack me very noticeable so I think there is something there with the vultures I just don't know what and they came from out of nowhere too
Thanks, was very helpful.
Does anyone else miss the giant hornets, or am I the only player who's not spheksophobic?
Exactly, did they take out the football zombies too?
@@madmattox4962 Far as I can tell yes
Ask Prebuilt: Would you suggest mods for adding more species of zeds to the game?
I kill any circiling vultures because they will eventually attack you, especially if you ever get wounded.
@@rembrandtshadows Well if you came by vehicle that's absolutely definite when they'll swoop when you go back to it.
@@Blitzcreeper239 mmm they follow and when you take any damage they attack.
@@stevdor6146 Firing my pipe machine gun "warning shots" at vulture and doesn't bat an eye, walk over trash and everybody loses their mind
Jk but of course in all likelihood it could just be remembering all the times a vulture attack has been most inconvenient, which would be when you're trying to fight other things.
Nice Breakdown.
the way they all keep tracking you with there head is creepy lmao
The mutant zombie does have a chance to give off radiation damage. I learned that the hard way
What if you dig a long tunnel to fit a motorcycle through and make it long enough to drive through during the entirety of horde night? Would the vultures be able to swarm you?
7 Days to Mine?
nice breakdown
Thanks for the help
On my second horde night in 1.0 there was a massive zombie wolf, 2 at one time, didn’t see it in this video
Never new before this video that there even WERE irradiated vultures lol
Just ran into a demo on a tier 3 mission to clear a parking garage.
Only day 67
i had a mod that doubled the zombie health and hit to player damage Khaines dangerous cities and i was on survivalist damage and i had a demo show up in my very first fetch job for the trader, not even ten min in, i regretted my choices lol i died 30 times lol was eventually able to wear him down bit by bit with a spear and arrows did i say eventually meant 40 min and about 4 spears and 500 stone arrows
I noticed a demos tend to spawn at gravestone.
Askprebuilt: hi what is the best pc specs for 7dtd? I have a ryzen 5600x with rx 7900 xt 32gb ram and even with a lot of optimization im still not getting good performance
The game is just badly optimized. It will run like crap at points even on my workstation.
Ryzen 9 5900X, 64 Gb RAM, 7900XTX.
@Liminal.Headspace thanks. You saved me a few hundred bucks
@@notgesund You have a really good PC for gaming and even productivity. Honestly, there's no real reason to upgrade anything for gaming for the next few years..
Mine is meant more for work than playing games, I mostly play on my old PC, and there's mostly no real difference in FPS. It's annoying that a 5000 Euro machine doesn't run 7TD that much better.
Al i the only one having a horrible frame rate issue on the series x? Ever horde night after week 2 and waste land building drops my frame rate to 5-10 fps. My brother on the series s stoped playing with me because it was so unplayable, it was even worse for him and it took much less. I feel like no one is talking about this, how are we gonna get it fixed if no one talks about it
found demo guy random on game stage like 100 with 2 friends we were just in a vary small town(the one with the butcher) in the snow
Did I miss the lumberjack zombies? What about footballers, those got removed right?
lumberjacks are just generic heavy zombies. Footballl zombies were removed.
i remember the ps4 version had a zombie type i called patient x they were but naked ran no matter what settings you had and were tanky af
I got ate by Feral Zombies in broad daylight and wondered wth was goin on
I remember, i was playing my first time at 7 days to die, it was like day 10. I wasn’t familiar with the game, i stumbled upon a Bear den building and went to loot it, i entered the second floor, and found 2 zombie bears (i didn’t know there was bears in the game), so I started screaming and got out of the game immediately 😂😂😂
Idk whats with the vultures but unless i have hp missing or an injury they leave me alone in the wild
Dont screamers call in harder zombies based on there type? Like a feral one will call in more ferals etc etc
How do you have a healthbar for mobs?
The spitters look like the suiciders from Dead Island.
I had a exploder zombie spawn in the navazgane snow biome once on xbox
Little detail i think is you cant Headshot proc the Wight Guy and the Vulture i think everyone else can be onseshot with headshot proc
you can 100% one shot a Wight with a headshot. I do it all the time with my Spear and my Crossbow
Does anybody know why there are no regular wights, only the feral ones?
I thought I saw a demo and some soldiers running by but it was some Russians and their APC. Apparently, they were running away so hard, they ran through my game.
I live in the desert and I get attacked by wandering radiated zombies all the time went into a bedroom in aa house and there is 15 zombies in a small bedroom 5 was radioactive
After watching this video I would have to say I'm just very unlucky the acid spitter come in hordes on mine
how do you go third person?
