I have thin and fine hair so I have to wash my hair 3-4 times per week (i have terrible build up if i don't).What I recommend for others with the same type of hair as mine is using a sulfate free shampoo and once a week a shampoo with sulfates or a deep cleaning shampoo to get rid all the build up

I used to wash my hair everyday, smh, I wash it twice a week now and it’s so much better. I’m still not at the point where I find it possible to wash once a week since I exercise 6 days a week. Maybe some day I’ll get to that point 🤷🏻‍♀️

Oh yeah! That’s tricky. I work out around 4 days a week but I don’t work out hard enough to sweat that much😂 but maybe try dry shampoo before working out? I do agree though, if you’re getting super sweaty from working out then you should for sure wash your hair for bacterial/hygienic reasons!

Thanks for sharing. I started washing my hair 1-2 times per week and it has been a life changer. I used to have a lot of hair falling out when I washed every other day or sometimes everyday. Now after about two months my hair feels so much better and I barely have many strands left in the shower after washing. I sometimes will rinse and just condition ends if I need a quick refresher.

I have been looking for tips and tricks on how to make my wash last longer. I have VERY oily hair and after 2 days of washing, sometimes only 1 day, my hair is a greaseball. I have watched every video on things to try, and I watched this WONDERFUL video and tried the dry shampoo trick for right after you wash your hair, before the oil builds up. Let me tell you....GAME CHANGER! Wow, I use to put it in my hair when it was already oily and like you, it took SO much dry shampoo and even then, it was still this weird grease mess almost. I'm on day 3, after putting the dry shampoo on my hair right after washing and blow drying it and it has worked like a dream!! THANK YOU Lainey!!! Love all your videos, but this one helped me so much!

I work out a lot. So while I try to keep washing down to once a week, long, thick hair really can start to smell bad because it sops up so much sweat. I find taking my hair down once I've cooled down and basically blow drying out on a cool or medium setting followed by some dry shampoo helps. I also will just rinse the hair with warm water followed by conditioner if it gets bad.

I used to wash it every second day due to water sports, but once I stopped those I just kept extending the days between washes until after a year or so I was at a week. I've never been one to wash my hair often as it's very curly so it's on the drier side but sometimes it is tempting to wash it more as I have to use more styling products to get nice curls. Hair washing is not bad. You’re adding conditioners and masks and removing buildup. If you have an oily face, you can expect an oily scalp….it’s natural. Allowing sweat and oil to remain will just cause blockage. Do what suits you. Wash once a week or every day. It doesn’t matter as much as you may think

This is definitely for people w long hair and a ton of it. Also, speaking of toxins and things that clog your hair/scalp, what do you think dry shampoo is doing? All the itching that people (myself) are claiming? Hello! I mean..I can maybe withstand dry shampoo a couple times a week but my scalp is usually screaming at me. Not to mention the typical triple washing just to remove all the dry shampoo buildup(compiled w styling products, if you use any), which, leads me to think..what was the point of less washing again?

I’ve always had greasy hair even when I tried the No Poo thing for a while. I change shampoo/conditioner all the time, not much difference. I’ve tried washing it less and it never gets better. What my hair looks like in 12-24 hours is what most other people look like after 4-7 days. My hair is extremely fine and dead straight, and dark brown and I feel like that is all harder to disguise greasy hair. And now it’s falling out 3 months post Covid and showing even greasier. I don’t use styling products. I only brush it when it’s tangled or before washing it. So I’m at a loss.

Do you have extremely hard water? My hair was so greasy from the hard water where I live. I bought a water softener for my shower that was around $200 and it’s so much better.
You have to make sure it’s a real water softener. Filters for chlorine, iron, etc don’t soften water.

What works for your hair won't work for another's one. People on the internet tend to forget that when giving tips.
Saying that washing your hair too much is bad may be true to you but not to me. My hair is extremely fine, 1a pin straight, and super glossy so the sebum slips down each hair strand. When I wash my hair after it gets greasy, and that's every 2 to 3 days, it looks nice, healthy and bouncy. On the contrary, when I tried following these no poo methods my scalp was itchy as hell, I'd get dandruff and overall my hair wasn't in it's best shape.

It takes months if not a year or so for the hair to adjust. So I'm not surprised it didn't work for you when you tried. I used to have to wash my hair every single day cuz it would get greasy looking so fast but over the years I finally was able to train my hair and now I'm able to get away with not washing my hair for 4 days or so. But it definitely took a long time to get to this stage 😫☺️

I don't use much heat or a lot of products because I don't want to damage it but I'm trying the less-washing method to see if that helps it grow.

I wash my hair once a week, once I started noticing how dry my hair was looking from over washing it. And I always wash my wet comb/brush / change my pillow case before it touches my clean hair after my shower. My hair is healthier and my hair colour does last longer too. After I wash my hair, I use a microfiber towel / turbine, then do my face beauty routine, of moisturising etc, applying makeup if early in the day, not before bed, then letting my hair down, put products in, never too much, less is more and wrap my wet hair in a low bun and wrap a microfiber extra large scrunchie twice over my wet bun, leave it for couple of hours then when my hair is dryer to damp I do two French or Dutch braids and rock that until the next day and I get mermaid waves. Another thing, I sleep in Dutch or French braids every night for 3 nights and find my hair doesn't get oily until about day six for me, that preserves the clean scalp for me. I'm glad you did this video, it confirmed for me I was doing the right wash hair routine.
