      I believe I might have fine hair! I went 2 weeks without washing it and it actually feels super healthy and nice. Everyone's hair is different though. Before doing so, I used a hair mask. Idk if that affected anything and aided in the healthy texture.

      To make your hair less oily add a table spoon of salt, if you want to have thicker hair add powered gelatin, if you want to make your hair more healthy add vitamin E capsules to your shampoo. If you want hair growth make a flax seed gel mask. Use cornstarch and a powder brush or put some in a salt shaker as natural dry shampoo to extended washes. It won’t show if you brush through it. Sleep with a loose hairstyle like a bum or braid in a silk scarf of with a silk pillow case. To reduced breakage brush before you wash. When you brush your hair start from the bottom and work up. Once every six’s weeks use a different shampoo or plane dawn dish soap. Shampoos build up over time.

      I have fine hair and I’ve just got into not washing it every day.
      My hair up to last month was an absolute grease ball and would immediately get greasy next day after washing, sometimes greasy same day.
      I first changed to a professional shampoo- and it was a moisturising shampoo not one that strips the oils. Shampoo twice. Conditioner for mid to ends
      That gave me an extra day or two without washing and no dry shampoo needed. Still wasn’t wanting to wash so often.
      So I use dry shampoo and I used to hate it, but I feel like I was using it wrong for my hair type.
      For fine hair I would say putting a little of dry shampoo in your clean hair before it even has a chance to get super oily worked for me.
      What didn’t work for me was using the dry shampoo when it was already too late.
      I don’t over touch my scalp and don’t over brush as you’re just pulling all the oils everywhere and dragging dry shampoo into your ends making it dry.
      Using a barrel brush to blow dry roots of hair after a wash also gives a good root lift which keeps hair off the scalp longer, which helps with us oily peeps.
      This has worked for me I’m on day five no shampoo. I work out too I just re apply dry shampoo if needed.
      For the record I have extremely fine hair and I know the struggle. I think some people’s genetics will never allow them to go more than two or three days max without shampooing. I felt that was going to be me but I’m figuring it out

      Put dry shampoo in the day you wash and everyday after that. It prevents oil from coming to the surface. It works so much better than trying to use dry shampoo on hair that is already visibly oily. I use the Acure Dry Shampoo powder that you can find on Amazon and that leaves your hair feeling soft and natural without any texture or grit.

    I typically wash my hair everyday because I have such an oily scalp. I’m on day five right now training it and brushing out the oil and letting my dry shampoo sit for 2-5 minutes before messaging it in and rebrushing helps so much!! I never understood how to use dry shampoo properly until now and am so excited to wash my hair tomorrow and go six or seven days without washing. The pandemic pushed me to just do it because my hair seriously doesn’t need to be clean right now and there are more important things to do than waste my time washing my hair. I’m really excited to save money and now find a non toxic dry shampoo. Thanks for the tips B! Maybe I’ll be a 10+ day gal soon!

    The thing is, greasiness isn't the only reason we wash our hair every couple of days. There's also the buildup of dust and air pollution that we need to clean off because hair does react to them (eg humidity, wind, etc.) and may even absorb them, which can get pretty disgusting in all honesty.

    I always flip my head over when rinsing and it really gets the grease and extra soap out from underneath and this helps a lot! I can go like 3 to 4 days but I work out 5 to 6 days a week and my hair literally gets soaked in sweat each time. Also it’s pulled back in a tight pony tail and yes I’ve tried all the hair ties and they all leave creases. Unfortunately my hair just stinks obviously with all that sweat. I don’t want to dump like fragrance loaded products on it to make it smell better so I end up having to wash more often then I would like. BUT I am going to try that brush. Thanks girl your hair is beautiful. 💜

      Yes, the curly girl method! Someone with curly hair shouldn’t be washing every day or even with sulfates at all. Also never, ever brush your hair dry. Curly hair needs to be wet in order to be brushed. When you do brush it use either a wide tooth comb or a wet brush. Wetting it isn’t washing it.

    I think the only flaw here is, you need a sleep cap not a shower cap. Shower caps have plastic inside to keep water out and make you sweat. Satin caps breath and dont cause friction on the hair strands. They say they keep you hair from getting to dry on the ends as well. I'd say try a satin cap. 😁✌️

    I saw a RUclips recently where the person in the video mentioned that her hairstylist friend taught her to apply the dry shampoo on the day of the wash and that extends your less greasy hair experience. I’ve only tried it once so far so I can’t say anything about it just yet. But I am definitely enjoying this video so much! I’ve lost track of when I last washed my hair I think it’s been about eight days. I’m hoping to reset the oil production by not washing it

    I don't think that hair training works for people with naturally oily skin. My hair gets greasy about 12 hours after washing - nothing i've ever tried has changed that. I have really oily skin and if I were to stop washing my face for example, it wouldn't make my skin less oily - don't get the logic!

      Actually usually people with really oily skin have had their skin stripped of natural oils and its trying to overcompensate and so ur skin gets oilier. This was me. I changed my face wash to one that was hydrating and not stripping and this has changed how oily my face gets! But my hair still gets oily the next day :/

However, I am wondering, doesn't your scalp smell if you are keeping your hair unwashed for so many days?

  • @denisewoosley1163

    I’m able to go a good 3 weeks without washing. I’m trying to get away from using shampoo completely right now because it’s horrible for it. I never use anything with sulfates & am trying to avoid alcohols but it’s hard!
    The grease people have on their hair has a lot to do with color & over production. People with dark hair tend to have greasier hair. The hair over produces because they are constantly opening the hair follicle & stripping the good oils out & stuffing them with conditioner trying to close the follical back down. Anyone can train their hair to produce less oil, you just have to fight through the grease for awhile. Eventually the scalp will stop over producing because it’s already filled.
    I’ve noticed that the longer I go without shampooing the better. My hair is shinier, holds curl better, less frizzy, less tangled, and never creases when I put my hair up.

    Guys if you can’t go days without washing your hair then don’t! I did this for over a year and it only lead to more problems! If your scalp is oily wash it because it can lead to many issues, including hair thinning and hair loss! If you can go 10 days without washing it, that’s great, but just because some people can do it doesn’t mean you can. Yes there are some benefits to not wetting your hair a lot, specially if it is high porosity, but the health of you scalp comes first, wash your hair based on your scalp, not it’s texture, density and thickness!
    There are other ways to healthy hair, if you want I can list some bellow, but keep in mind I’m not an expert, but I have studied a lot of hair science!
    Ps: I’m not bashing her at all, like I said if you can do it by all means do it!

    what temperature do you use to curl? I also have naturally wavy hair and for the last 10 months I was sticking to Curly Girl Method and curled it only naturally and most of the time diffusing with low temperature. But it doesn't always give me the effect I want and I miss curling iron curls ;) at the same time I don't want to damage my hair. So I was wondering how it works for you?

  • @johannainga4923
    @johannainga4923 3 года назад

    Apparently dry shampoo is bad for the scalp as it clogs your hair follicles in the same way oil does if you let it build up. Don't get me wrong a little oil is great but if you use dry shampoo when it's oily it makes scalp build up and clogs you follicles. The health of your scalp affects the health and growth of your hair so not wanting to use dry shampoo and oil and product build up to clog my hair follicles. How do I extend time between washes without dry shampoo. I already double cleanse on wash day and use a deep cleansing shampoo. I can go three to four days without washing hair after working out. Honestly think using dry shampoo vs washing your hair more often is just as damaging. I think it's about balance as anything you do to your hair damages it anyway.

I use a 1” curling iron and hold the iron in there for a decent amount for each curl. for the first 15 minutes it looks really tight and not good at all. But then it falls out but since it was so tight it falls into beautiful big, loose, curls!

    I know this works for some people but honestly? Sometimes this isn’t ideal. You can actually do more damage because the bacteria on your scalp will build up too much causing dandruff and inflammation which could lead to hair loss. Everyone has a different scalp and for most people daily or every day washing is too much but for some people 4,5,6 plus days is just not ideal.

    • @electrasmelody9637
      @electrasmelody9637 4 года назад

      I mean European (white people hair) is more frail and prone to damages then any other. Natural oils protect your hair, no other "miracle" oils truly work, the only oils that keep ur hair healthy is the ones you produce naturally, hair wasn't designed to washed daily. If someone has dandruff, you use a anti dandruff shampoo and make sure your hair is rinsed extra well l, that's all that's needed to fix it.
