    You can use humidifier or diffuser even with essential oil as long as it’s non perfumed. They helpful on hot weather and keeps the birds cool. Also, I think it takes a bit harder during taming if you let your birds out on their cage. Only let them out when theyre at least settled in.

    In regards to not picking up your birds; I don't know if it's just a budgie thing, but my lovebirds eventually grew enough trust/bond with me that I could pick them up/handle them without causing them any stress or concern. My first lovebird even was able to perform tricks like rolling onto it's back.
    It might depend on the trust (and species) of the bird, but gently holding/handing your bird I think is alright if you've built that trust with them.

    hey Salvador, I have 1 budgie (blue male) and he is very timid, he hates being out of his cage, and doesn't, like to try new foods, (he only eats birdseed) he used to be perfectly fine, out of his cage constantly but one day a visitor started hitting him with a stick, I was wondering if you have any tips on how I can stop him from being so scared? we were thinking of getting him a friend so he would be happier, would that help? if so what size cage do you recommend I get? • @tilapia8863
      @tilapia8863 3 года назад +1

      @@bimbirobotics1050 That's common with birds on a seed diet. They like the seed so much as it is like junkfood to them so they'd rather eat it than healthy pellets and vegetables everyday. But, with some persistence and persuading, you can get them to change their diet to a better one that includes pellets everyday (Tops is a great brand of pellet), chop every day (a mixture of birdsafe vegetables, grains, nuts and some fruits, and herbs-bird safe herbs- can be added too), and seed as a treat food or for training. As for a cage, a flight cage is the best way to go for a budgie as they have lots of energy and need the space to play around whilst you are not interacting with them outside of the cage.
      Natural perches can be hard to find in pet stores, and are quite expensive to get online, but you can also get branches from the wild from bird safe trees (that aren't sprayed with pesticides or other harmful substances for birds) and disinfect them via oven baking (200 degrees Celsius for around an hour), sun baking (which takes a couple to a few weeks I believe) or, my favourite, apple cider vinegar dissolved in warm water to scrub the perch and then let sun-dry (which, if on a hot day, doesn't take long at all). Only thing about the apple cider vinegar method is you have to make sure it is completely dry before use.
      As for the visitor who hit the bird with a stick, I hope they got a good telling off. The bird might take a while to recover from such an event, but just be slow and encouraging with him and eventually he might get over it. But make sure not to rush him either, and if the visitor comes over again make sure to inform them firmly to either not touch your bird or become aware of the budgie's fragileness and show some respect for your animal. This is your bird, you are responsible for making sure other people do not do anything bad to him, and it can be unavoidable at times but I hope nothing like that happens.
      Sorry for the long paragraph lol, the care of birds is a little hard to explain in a few short sentences for me. I hope you have a good day!
      Small edit: Also never force the bird to change from a seed diet to a pelleted and chop diet, it can lead to the bird starving itself as it is not aware that the pellets and vegetable mix is food. Take it slowly and add it to the bird's diet bit by bit. Monitor your bird's eating. Does he seem to still only eat the seed? Has he shown any interest in the pellets/chop? If not, don't worry. It could take a while. Good luck!

    Okay, I have a question, when I clean my cage, I need to take the birds out, but I'm not allowed to let them fly in the house. How am I supposed to get the birds out without grabbing them, or making them hate me? Also, any tips about how to get my budgie on my hand? And to make them stop biting me.

    Is the "no large amount of toys" things because they need space to fly? I just got a disabled bird, who can't fly, is it OK it give him extra toys?

    • @Bird-Nuggets
      @Bird-Nuggets  3 года назад +1

      You can add extra toys but also keep in mind it still needs to jump and move inside the cage easily

    I have a question when should you let your bird out of its cage when its trained to get on your finger or what?

    • @BlackTeishin
      @BlackTeishin 3 года назад

      Generally birds don't need to be trained to go on your finger, you can press on their legs and either say "Step up." to let them know or they will do it naturally.

    Hey, I'm 10 and I'm getting a parakeet for my birthday soon, I have school from 9 to 3 and I'm not sure what to do since my bird would most likely be bored for the 7 hours I'm not active, do you know what I should do?

    • @wolfyrichards
      @wolfyrichards 3 года назад

      You can put the parakeet in a room with a TV or radio, this will entertain them. Make sure to get it a big cage and a generous amount of toys.Get them lots of perches and things.
