Wildlife! What's going on man! First of all I hate that massive Gar knocked your Rod into the water man! But you guys caught some monster gar! Great episode man I loved it! Keep on getting down!

Hello from Perth, Australia. Love your videos. They got me back into fishing. Good to see you getting back into your gars. I'd been wondering how the experience fishing on a boat with Alex is like. Hopefully, I can visit Houston properly the next time I go there and sneak in a fishing trip with Alex. 🤩🤣
Thanks for the support! It's my dream to visit Australia some day. If you make it over this way, definitely give Alex a call, he can definitely put you on some monster gar.
@@wildlifefishingshow Hope you can make it here soon. I'll definitely be looking forward to the videos you'd make of that trip as well. For fishing, you'd want to visit Queensland, the Northern Territory (watch out for the aggressive crocs there), far north Western Australia and Tasmania (trout fishing).
Saw this vid alreddy 9 times and it keeps me entertaind. Those gar are fantastic fish. I will never understand why people hunt them for food , exspecialy the big ones. Young boys who dreaming to catch a big gar when they grow up ...... make their dreams comme tru and please release the big gar if you catch one.
It's okay to eat them .....in Louisiana they are overpopulated and can practically take over small.lakes and deplete most other species......they do have an excellent taste .
@@charlesljones2454 that's not true at all. Find me one scientific, verified source that shows they are overpopulated and wipe out other fish. Stories from your friends or other fishermen aren't real sources, FYI. The truth is that they are still a very vulnerable species struggling to recover after being intentionally targeted for extinction due to propaganda from the early 20th century. They are a part of a healthy ecosystem, do not wipe out other fish, and need to be protected.
12:36 if I’m not mistaken, that’s the spot downtown you caught you first flathead from a couple years ago, right? It’s kinda cool seeing the usual spots from a different perspective
@@wildlifefishingshow I can imagine dude, there’s so many amazing spots that just aren’t reasonably accessible from the bank. Every inch of the bayou is teaming with life and you could spend your whole lifetime exploring new spots. Side note, what kind of rope and knot do you use for the gar lassos? I hooked into a few gar on the brazos today and was almost grateful they got off because I realized I didn’t have proper landing gear with me 😅
The closest I have to this where I live is fishing for grouper (which are heavily protected), sharks (which I hate catching) or the occasional tuna or mackerel. If it was scaled down a little then I'd be chasing mulloway (very similar to redfish) or mangrove jack (I think they're called mangrove snapper in the US). Makes me want to go wet a line lol! Keep fishing mate. :)
@@wildlifefishingshow they're great fighters and taste really good too! Winter is best for them but all year round they bring the fight to you. My PB was 32.7kg (72lbs) and I held it's mouth level with my nose and its tail dragged on the ground. I'm 6'4". Caught it on 18lb mono. Live bait 3" whiting on an 8' medium action rod. 45 min fight. Was expecting a flathead (Platycephalus fuscus), but plans change. Best season for mulloway (commonly called jewfish/jewies) is coming up shortly.
It's an in-line float with a bead on each side. Above the float is a stopper knot, usually a uni knot of 80lb braid. I can slide the knot up or down the mono leader to change the depth.
@@wildlifefishingshow thanks. You have to do a how to video on that for the people!... Unless you already have then I would humbly ask that you point me to it
Probably plenty of spotted gar and long nose gar. We were just looking for big fish on the sonar and breaching alligator gar so we probably passed up loads of smaller fish.
There's an enormous amount of debris in the water out here so we had to keep close control over them or they would run under or around the trees, pipes, and rocks that filled this area.
I am happy you caught that fish, because I saw fishermen hunting gar with sommekind of bow and they took al the fish they caught. they camme verry close to sunning gar and then they shot them with a fishbow. I hate to see that. Hunt for coock pffftttt
@@wildlifefishingshow I am happy you agreed with me. This is no sport !! I would be verry agree if they shoot a big mirorcarp. I had a great time, Champ!!! Can't wait to do it again and explore some new areas 🏆
That was great to watch - some really good fish bagged! Thanks for the ride along!
Thanks!
Let me know if yall prefer getting straight into the fishing or do you like the old way with the teaser clip, then set up???
Def old way with a teaser clip
A little setup with a teaser, some foreplay. ; D

Alex and Buffalo Bayou Fishing Champs are amazing! Had a great trip with him yesterday!
The best!
Yes
Cool fishing from a boat, no mud involved... That gar banged you around . Cool location, right by the courts and the jailhouse.
Yeah, it was a very different feeling doing all that from a boat, lol
That Gar's attempted Heel Hook was impressive, it didn't quite catch you, but I still scored a take down for the Gar. : D Nice video Thanks!
Another nice monster fish fishing day! 👍
Thanks, it was a fun day!
Amazing fish. That one looks so clean.
This is quite a fishing experience. My arms are tired after that catch 😅
Nice! From the boat this video.
It was a lot of fun
WHOOO WHOOO WHEEE CONGRATULATIONS MY BROTHER

No but he sure got my kneecap
Wow look at that line go!

The funny thing is it happened minutes after we were discussing bull sharks in freshwater

Y'all our fishing near my honey hole for gar and giant catfish
Alligator gar gulp air so your ok with them out of water for a short time
yup..but it took 45 minutes to pop out...an almost catch...and release...
What pound test do you have on that rod?
80lb
Haha you had to wrestle that nasty fish like a wild hog!! 😜
was there any other species of gar in that body of water

East Houston ? By i10??

Buffalo Bayou in Houston Texas
