I just fished a lopro wildcat at Gville Allred ramp that Ben fished also. It was surreal looking around before takeoff with Ben,Gman ,Cory Johnston and I'm sure i missed some other Pros ,there was several wrapped boats. It was best three and i felt ok with 14+lbs ,thought it would take 16lbs or so. Those HAMMERS rolled in and hurt my feelings bad. I was so starstruck i can't remember who it was but 20.01lbs won it with 8lbs11ozs taking big fish. But getting my ass kicked by a truly great group of guys was a blast. Talked to Ben and he was genuine down to earth dude but talking with Cole was the real treat.
That top water bite is what we all want to see, keep crushing it Ben… I’ve been smacking them on the frog like crazy and my biggest this year is a 3 pounder. But fishing from shore with no electronics is a whole different ball game in NY
i fish long island new york from shore and caught atleast 10 bass over 5 pounds already this seasons awesome

2024 bass cat caracal can do over 80 in perfect conditions, but all of them are doing low 70s
High 60's low 70s are a standard. But trust me anything over 50 on the water looks fast and it's gonna feel just like a real car wreck hitting the water at 70 plus mph..

What to do when fish jump? I fished a lake in San Diego for 25 years that barbless only (Barrett Lake) ...100 fish days are not uncommon so I got to fuck around with them a lot to see how they'd stick or not. Here's my take: keep pressure by raising the rod STRAIGHT up high as they jump so you feel the weight of the fish (never to the side), but be careful to NOT let sudden slack happen when they hit the water ...I'd always try to "finesse" them back into the water, feeling the weight with the rod bent. I lost very few. Hope that helps ....tight lines!
