  • Don’t let the size fool you! Tag along to get the lowdown on this tiny but powerful MCU. Will discuss some features of the XIAO ESP32C3 (there are 5 flavours of the XIAO!) and demo wifi capability between an ESP32 and this unit via ESP-NOW.

Good Video!! We've been using the SAMD21 version of the Xiao for years. My son uses them in his Star Wars cosplay costumes. He 3D printed a Boba Fett helmet with a working Range Finder. We used the Xiao to control the servo that actuates the Range Finder arm and also the blinking lights on the Range Finder. I helped him with the programming. He uses Circuit Python with the Xiao.
Initially we chose the Xiao due to impressive amount of a I/O pins, the performance, the ease of programming, and USB C connectivity. We'll need to give the ESP32 version of the Xiao a try. For wearables, props, cos play, LED lights, etc. the Xiao is a great microcontroller.
By the way, I believe the reason why it's called Xiao is because it means "little" or "small" in Mandarin. At least, that's what I'm told.

I've been testing this xiao esp32c3 but it is strange that sometimes it looses connection with the pc when trying to flash\upload the code, and then it only be able to work after doing a special combo reset on the board. Don't have this kind of behaviour with the esp32 dev board.

can we use 7.4v to power the Xiao esp32c3 ? i want to run some ws2812b led strip using it

No. 5V max. Also, LED strips should be powered by a separate power supply as most micro controllers can only handle about 50mA max. You can get away powering a few pixels to test, but get a buck converter to do it right, and don’t forget to connect grounds.

Disappointed with the Xiao ESP32-C3's battery performance. The device operates in a voltage range of 4.2V-3.4V, which seems to limit battery usage efficiency. It's frustrating to see shorter usage times due to this. Hope they consider widening the voltage range to make the most of the battery's capacity without harming its longevity
