Hi my name is Caira Button and I am a 23 year old who makes videos about tips, tricks, and organization for living in a studio. I love the minimalist, feminine, clean vibe. Hello! What also helps -- on top of your always helpful advice --is an air purifier during the actual cooking time. I got mine from Target for $40. I agree plants are great 24/7, but for me having that extra boost really does help. Thanks again for your "tips, tricks and organizational hacks".

Yes air purifiers would work well too! My apartment never smelled strong enough to justify it but for someone who doesn't have as many windows and stuff that would definitely help!
Cleaning your apartment daily also eliminates smells.

I also use baking soda in my fridge! I recently purchased the baking soda circle thing, it basically just has a suction cup so you can place it inside the fridge walls, nice tips, can totally relate!
Oooh I need one of those! I once spilled a box of baking soda in my fridge and it was such a pain to clean up.
Air purifier with a HEPA and a carbon filter - helps against dust as well.
Also cooking coffee kills odors.
Gotta love the people who cook funky smelling foods when they live in an apartment but once they move into a house, it’s ramen and sandwiches.

Hi, I think the real issue is lack of ventilation. Use a fan. Open a window.
Most modern bathrooms don't have windows. Kitchen smells is really about what you cook. You said you cook a lot of fish...well it will smell.
Any apartment can smell though. It's really about good ventilation.

If you want to remove existing smells that ventilation doesn't seem to get rid of, white vinegar is very helpful. You can warm some of it up in a pan, turn the stove's heat off and then let evaporate a bit and it do its work until its back at room temperature. The place will smell of vinegar for a short bit but that smell doesn't linger very long.

I moved into a studio recently, and this was a worry of mine. I LOOOVE cooking, but my bed, sofa, & closet is RIGHT in front of the cooking area :'> I am unable to open my windows, but it never occured to me to utilize my ceiling fan! Last night, I overbaked some carrot chips, and my place smelled like char for awhile :( but I used the stove vent, baked some carrot bread which combated the smell, & then I lit a candle before going to bed. Thankfully, we have a trash service every evening that takes our trash, which is super helpful in keeping the place smelling fresh (also helps if u get the scented trash bags) !!!

You could get an air purifier! I have never had one but I have heard they can help a lot.
I guess I will have to get an air cleaner. My studios smells like skin most of the time. I only have one small window and I leave it open all the time. I have the ceiling fan and floor fan on all the time but it still smells like skin. I can sweep and mop and the next day it smells like skin again.
I never really cook anymore since living in my studio apartment I think it’s because I have an old style coil hot plate and it’s terrible

Do air purifiers help?
I've actually never used one but just received one, so I will let you know after I try it for a while. I have friends who say they help a lot though!
They do indeed but it's important that they have a HEPA filter in order to really work, not all of them have one. Bonus if they also have an ioniser and charcoal filter included. But careful with the ions, they can make dirt particles sticky if you don't clean the purifier regularly, and they can make metals oxidize if you use that function too often.
