The best batsman I have seen. With due respects to all other greats.
Opening, small stature, receiving end of world's fastest bowlers, no neutral Umpiring, no bouncer rule nothing. And he scored 34 test centuries.🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
For me he is God of batting.

Sunny, I grew up in South India when you were the best batsman in the World and was a big fan of Pataudi who hardly scored. If I had not spent half my school time arguing that Vishy was a better batsman than you with my friends, I would have done better in life. I look at the stats and what you have achieved and there was no doubt who was the best batsman not only in India but in the world. Today I would vote for you to bat for my life. Would love to meet you if you are in the US and would apologize to you by doing a "sashtanga namaskara" the south Indian way. It is like going for confession as a catholic!!!

Loved this response. I remember all indians arguing with me how someone from their state is better than gavaskar or later sachin and how they were selfish . Anyways i am marathi and we are unique people in mindset from rest of india ..for us india is first and it comes from shivaji maharaj

vvs laxman was never given thee credit he truly deserves. He was a very selfless cricketer unlike dravid and tendulkar who were run machines and could scorea lot of hundreds. But VVS was the biggest match winner in that team.Especially against Australia.VVS borke Gvaskar's record of highest test score by an indian.

VVS great batsman one can never forget 281 versus Australia which changed the face of cricket in India for good. Gavaskar by far the greatest Indian batsmen. Brilliant commentator & analyst best in India.

Sunil Gavaskars 236* and record broken by VVS by scoring 281 and later broken by Sehwag 309, all top scores were facing dangerous pace bowlers. See the line of pace battery these guys faced like Marshall, Garner, Holding, Robert's (By Sunil Gavaskar), Mcgraw, Bret Lee, Gillespie (by VVS), Akhtar, Mohammad Asif, Razak (by Viru).....

Not only that, he opened the innings, not knowing how the pitch behaves and the movement and bounce, playing against the fearsome WI pace battery, when India didn't have any fast bowlers at all. Viv came at 2 down, and so did Sachin. Gavaskar single handedly put India on the cricket map. When India was just 25 years out of Independence Gavaskar elevated every Indian to take pride and not bow down. If Cricket is religion in India, then Gavaskar is the God. The Sachins and Kohlis are equally good, but they stand on Gavaskar's shoulders. He IS the foundation of Indian batting. Oh! by the way, never got hit on the head considering that the opened and no bouncer restrictions during that era. Check with Sachin how many pings he had on his helmet, that too coming 2 down.

How much of admiration and correct utility of Kapildev in batting and bowling for Indian team Gavaskar is talking here? I was a student during these 2 greats playing days. we used to read some articles as if these 2 are rivals and trying to harm each other. May be they had tru professional rivalry to excel and benefi the team and the country. We didn't have the term fake media then.

SUNNY BHAI's 10000 is far ahead than anyone's just because
    1) No big protective gears
    2) No restriction for bouncers
    3) The complete batting was depended on him
    4) No Medical Rehabs & Psyo's
    5) Still India team was an under dog
    6) No better opener on the other end
    7) No video footage of any bowler
    8) Paid very less
    and many ....

50 overs is ok but T20 should be abolished. It makes the game too childish and involves a very narrow aspect of the game of cricket. It's like trying to get a cheap thrill. Also, one is forced into hitting every ball for runs in T20.
