Yes, the bottom piece is a basket that you can use with your current platesetter. It's great for lifting it out of the hot Egg while cooking if you need to stir or add to the charcoal. Of course use mitts, too! 🔥
Steve, thanks for the post. Question, I’d like to smoke pork roasts on both the top and bottom grids. Is there room below the bottom grid to put a drip pan to catch juices and also cook more indirectly over a 12 hour period or so? If so, got any suggestion for a pan for the large green egg?
Thanks for watching .... here is the pan that I use when I use one. It is great for holding water or any liquid or just for catching drippings .....amzn.to/2W3oj2R
You can actually buy each part of the full 5 piece kit separately, which is great for birthdays, holidays and surprise gifts for you! :) Im going that route instead of buying the whole kit at once, since I only need a few pieces right now. And I really like that the parts work with all the other accessories I already have.
I’m sure you are aware that bge stole the idea from the ceramic grill store. Give credit where credit is due. Very disappointed in big green egg I’m buying all my accessories from ceramic grill store
BGE didn't "steal" Ceramic Grill Store's idea, the eggspander is custom designed to work with existing hardware that people may already have, no need to buy "oval" stones and grates just to fit the expansion kit that you use. BGE was just late to the game being able to design their own official version, dont accuse them of stealing product designs. It just serves the same purpose, but is a different kit design. BGE used to carry 2 tier and 3 tier grids, but they weren't custom designed for an egg (they fit any grill) and were hard to use in an egg. This is a brand new design to solve a very old problem.
I’ve been trying to figure this thing out for a month now. Your video helped.
Good Deal .... Glad it helped you out in your journey to a lot of good smoking' & grillin' .... Have fun & Enjoy ... Thanks for watching!
Thank you
You're welcome .... Thanks for watching
Nice. Can you use the existing ceramic plate setter with the eggspander?
Yes you can ..... check it out in action on a Reverse Sear ....... ruclips.net/video/vcbzk8KFiQQ/видео.html
