This is the first of many moments to come that solidify the fact that there's something ominous, something truly malevolent hiding behind the facade of joy and laughter the game has brought up to this point.

This scene gets a lot more interesting if you look back on it after a True Pacifist run. It ends with the reveal that Sans was talking about the Echo Flowers this whole time and not Flowey as you thought, but...in the end of the Pacifist story, it's more or less confirmed that Papyrus had been talking to Flowey. In fact, it's the whole reason he was able to ambush you.
It's probably not coincidence that Sans was able to tell you such a similar story, about his brother talking to a flower. No, I think the truth is a lot more unsettling.
I think that Sans was trying to be very, very discreet in warning us about Flowey. He has some history with them, bad blood, and he knew that you knew who he was really talking about. If he was really talking about Echo Flowers, why not say that from the beginning, instead of tacking them onto the end?
And more importantly, what does he expect the player to do with this information? In the actual game, you really...can't. Flowey does an excellent job of staying away from you and Papyrus stays very quiet about his friendship with a flower. Sans would probably be in a better position to take care of Flowey - he may well have tried, but he stopped - but he chooses to pass the torch on to you.
As we later find out, he clearly doesn't even trust you...and yet Sans still chooses to give Frisk what was essentially a coded message. It's a shot in the dark. Some would even say, a last resort.
What this tells me is that Flowey has not just been stalking you. He's like a panopticon, able to potentially see and hear anything, anywhere, to the point where a conversation held about him cannot even mention his name. Maybe this was a technique developed over time, until eventually any attempt to stop him was snuffed out before it even began...unless it was very, very quiet.
After all, it's rude to talk about someone while they're listening.

This theme is stuck in my head, every since I played this game back in 2016.
It constantly reminds me how the one who is in control here is not the main character, it's not the first fallen human.
It's you. You alone and nobody else.
It's surprising how many fans of this franchise don't think they're responsible for their actions and it's just that ' voice ' (i.e the first fallen human), making them do it.
Even Deltarune has the same problem.
Hopefully everybody understands this.
Honestly i like how deltarune kinda tackles this problem. This time we see that we are in Control, but there is still a way for Kris to rebel against the soul. It's like the game yells at you "all you do is your fault only"

This song...is very forboding. This is how it feels to be out on a night where there are stars in the sky, water rushing by, as you contemplate what's going on.
I know its been six years haha, but when I listen to this, I feel more like this would be the kind of music to play when your out in the dark of night, getting rid of trash or quickly getting the mail you forgot to do earlier, and you can just feel your being watched, you don’t know where from, but something is just, there looking at you, it could be anything. After all, thats what a premonition would be wouldn’t it?
Guys, people keep talking about how Sans asked if you've ever heard of a talking flower, and they're like, "OMG, YES, FLOWEY," but then Sans mentions the Echo Flowers and they're like, "FUUUU-" Now my personal experience was different. When Sans asked me if I've ever heard of a talking flower, I was like, "Yes, I just learned about the Echo Flowers right before I came to Grillby's with you. Why is the music so serious? Dude, you were like, ten feet away from me when I learned about the Echo Flowers. What's so freaking important about those flowers?" So, uh, I guess that means Sans and I were on the same page?
Or he was teasing you to see Frisk's reaction, check if they knew about... something else.
I feel like Sans does know about Flowey, but since he doesn't entirely trust Frisk yet, he avoids showing how much he knows, so he makes a trick question. Ask you if you've heard of a "talking flower", see your reaction, and then use the Echo Flowers as a escape goat. I mean, through the rest of the game, it seems like Sans is keeping an eye on Frisk.
That invitation to dinner, him appearing in many different places... it's like he's investigating you before he assumes the role of the judge.

@HeroAlmighty I actually just watched the scene. Sans does say that Papyrus told him that a flower appears and tells him diffrent things. But the thing is where it seems diffrent from Flowey is when he vaguely discribes what the "talking flower" says.
Sans says "flattery... advice...encouragment...predictions."
Flowey would rather threathen papy or something like that, but not give him advice or encourage him...
And Echo flowers don't appear out of nowhere, atleast we didn't see it in the game.
They always were already there, and don't wander around waterfall. So, I'm wondering, what or who is this flower? o.o
Because it means that either Echo flowers can and will just appear and vanish around Waterfall...
Or there is another talking flower, one who is somehow good.
@@lilithlabelle1783 In the Genocide route, Flowey talks about how interesting Papyrus is, even saying that it took a long time to become bored of him.
Flowey also talks about how dangerous Sans is. How he's cost him multiple resets.
Finally, in the final part of the Pacifist route, Papyrus says that a talking flower told him to gather everyone.
Personally, I don't think Flowey would threaten Papyrus. He would say exactly what he needs to, gauging his reactions. Also, Papyrus was sort of his ace in the hole in case things went wrong.
What about gaster though as the samw theme still plays when u encounter gasters door

It feels like he knows everything, just like flowey. But, unlike flowey, he don't tell you that the same way... I mean, in the human hears, it must be sounding normal. But in the players ears, it's different.

He's talking to the human. But, it looks like he's talking about YOU. The player. His eyes turned black, that's obvious he's talking about you.
I think he knows that there is a "player" by asking questions like the one with a yellow flower. I'm not sure about it, but i'm trying to figure it out.

From what I could find, the word “premonition” means something along the lines of “having a feeling something bad will happen”. You could easily interpret this as the whole “bad time” thing sans has going on, since, to most players, the scene in Grillby’s where he subtly warns you about Flowey is the only room in the game where this plays. However, the somewhat obscure room_water_redacted is the only other scene where this plays. Remember that meaning premonition had? Remember how the figure in the room is a strange, black and white sprite? Remember how he speaks in windings, and even has the dialogue sound from Entry 17?
We don’t know what it is, but something is deeply wrong with that room and the figure hidden in the middle of it.
First time I heard this, it sent one hell of a chill up my spine.

Today at school, I saw a girl and her ex having eye contact at the same time but they were looking at each others like they never knew each other. They had a 4 year relationship. This music instantly came to my mind.

to me this track is filled with heartache
it's the sort of track that would play when you find out that someone wants to commit suicide
or someone is so sad that you can't even tell a real smile from a fake anymore
the sort of thing that would play when someone betrayed you, but their reason wasn't bad.
They didn't want to hurt you, but they couldn't go on hurting themself either.
It also feels like the kind of song where you hear someone opening up, from their heavy regrets to their deepest traumas. You listen to the vile things they have lived through.
It’s sad but also reassuring, for once, cause from their perspective, it’s probably offloading a lot of emotional baggage that they have been burdened to carry on their own, finally finding someone who can listen and know their stories and provide them with the empathy they need, to show that there are people who want the best for you, no matter what.
I wonder how much Sans knows about Flowey? I wonder even if he does? Echo flowers according to their name only say the last thing said to them over and over. If that is the case how can one give Papyrus encouragement I would think the encouragement word would have been lost. The point is, it has to be flowey. Who else could it be encouraging Papyrus. Sans, he knows something is up. There is a lot more to this story then we see and told.

This song is really eerie, it feels like a Last cry,a last resort from Sans to warn you about flowey. Since Sans was discreet about the warning, its scary to think flowey was probably listening.
I like how this plays when Sans tells you about Flowey, and if you listen closely it's the same notes used for the intro of Your Best Nightmare

This is the eerie sensation you can get sometimes, however to me I genuinely feel this song protrays an otherworldly, rustic, creepy build up of something extremely disturbing and the feeling of "wait there is something out there coming for me"
It will only be matter of time, so thus you descend downwards toward the *Thing* that lies at the end of the metallic walls and hallways that make you feel extremely disturbed yet welcomed.

I've been thinking about [NAME_NOT_FOUND], and I think that Mystery Man is not the actual [NAME_NOT_FOUND], but a sort of weird, cracked and melted version, kind of like the amalgams.
Also, I think what really happens to [NAME_NOT_FOUND] wasn't that he fell into the core, but might've found the void himself, tried to explore it, then got trapped there. Although this wouldn't explain why Mystery Man is all cracked....

Honestly, this is my favorite track in the whole game. Sure His Theme and Undertale and a ton of other boss themes have heart pumping or soft tunes, but these chords just... they just blow me away with all the implied emotions. WHY U DO DIS, TOBY?
Music really has a way to make you feel. This track is the most listened piece of music I’ve listened to this year.. Some nights I lay in bed and think about how many people I’ve know that have died. I think about how my future loved ones will feel when I’m gone.. I remember sometime this year one of my aunts died, and when I was coming home from the funeral I played this on repeat.. I don’t know what’s with this song, but it doesn’t creep me out or make me sad.. it just, makes me think about my life and death..

listening to this music at night makes me think of an abandoned school. a red evening light casts a long strip across the dirty floors through the broken windows. the lockers had been left wide open like someone had been there previously, as well as the pictures of the school's graduates-- noted that some of the smiling faces had been scratched out-- and although the exterior is suffocated in long overgrow, the inside seems relatively... untouched. its like the occupants disappeared one day, leaving behind belongings that sit idly in the classrooms; shoes, backpacks, notebooks. flipping through the notebooks reveal that they don't have normal writing in them. scribbles, scriptures of a faceless creature, a language that is incomprehensible, something that hints... that, maybe this place was hidden away for a reason. perhaps, its time to leave.
I really like this piece of music, because it gives an emotion no other song in the world gives. It's premonition. I know something bad will happen and I know I can't do anything about it, but I also can't stop thinking about it.
It's last days of summer to me, and I know school will start in few days. I can't relax normally, I keep thinking about it. And this song not only describes this feeling the best, it's the only song ever that describes it.

Inspired scenario: you wake up shaking, in the middle of the night. You can't remember what dream you were having, but it was no nightmare. It didn't cause this. You try to look around, but can't seem to. You are struck with fear. You pray. It wears off as you feel a comforting presence around you. You don't know what it was, but you didn't let it stop you. You feel almost embraced by the atmosphere. Certainly, something is off, you've never felt this...safe. You get out of bed groggily, slip on your slippers, pull your hair out of your mouth and back in a messy bun, put on your glasses, housecoat, and gloves, and walk into the kitchen. You stretch and yawn. Everything seems normal. You are starting to head back to your room to sleep again when you notice something. The atmosphere, it feels, strange. Very strange, and you can't describe it as anything but...empty. Lonely; forlorn, almost. You feel a little nauseous and get a cup of water. It's really cold. You start to feel a heavy sense of guilt, and your nausea worsens. You have a series of sudden impulses, coming and going, like shattering hail in a blizzard. Dizziness... You feel like you could pass out, and dial a friend's number to be safe.
"Yeah? It's 4am, you know that, right?"
"I don't feel good. I feel terrible, actually, like I could pass out, I can barely breathe..."
"Oh my gosh, why didn't you call the squad, then?"
"Ugghh, I don't know..." Your legs ache, a piercing pain, indescribable, rushes through your brain.

"C'mon, silly, you're not dying, no way, you're always so healthy and work out like every other day! No way. I'm gonna come get you, I'm only like 5 minutes away, and take you to the ER, ok?"

A void, the near absence of time and matter, a container of nothing. And you're trapped in it. Voices swirl and blend. They're all yours. Nonsensical mutterings, they cannot be deciphered. Static, a thick, cluttered noise, it echoes. You can't stand it.
Screams, they exit your mouth and go nowhere and everywhere. You try to think of what could be causing this... Your thoughts are interrupted by a bright light, ripping through the darkness.
"Hey, Brianna. I'm your nurse. I'm just going to take your vitals and make sure you haven't experienced something serious, alright?"
"Uh-huh..."
You look over at your BFF. They return a worried gaze. You look down. You're bleeding, but you can't tell from where, and there's a terrible ringing in your ears. You try to reach out to the nurse, and, as you touch her with your sweaty palm, she jerks back, as if you burnt her.
"My goodness! How can...what??? Touch me again!" You reach over and tap her lightly, forgetting your original purpose. "Ah, your hands are freezing, like, ice... I've never touched hands that cold, hold on. She touches the tip of your finger. Her finger goes pale and begins to turn blue, frost appearing. You feel a sense of relief and have no idea why.
"Oh my gosh! You're...this is... impossible, I must be dreaming, hallucinating." She rushes out of the room.
"Hey, Rae, c'mere." She rushes over. You reach out to her and hold her hand. She gasps, and looks at you in horror. You look at her hand and realize you're freezing her. Her arm is under a thin sheet of ice. You swat at it and it shatters. Relief again. You don't want to hurt people, so you get up and look out the window, and, with a thrust of your hand, freeze it under thick ice and then drive sharp ice needles into it, shattering it. You wince. "I'll replace it, I promise, but I have to get out, now. Rae, take this and tell her it's for the broken window. Tell her I've gone mad. It matters not, because I think I have." You jump from the window, 100 feet above the ground, and... A bridge begins forming under you.
With every step, you grow more confident. The bridge starts to look beautiful, the ice spiraling out from the force of each footstep. You hurry back home.
Eventually, police show up at your house. They demand an answer to the door. They burst in your door and ask why you broke the window. You answer by touching their hands. They each look at you in disbelief and try to cuff you. You run away and leave a trail of ice and snow. It's unintentional. They won't listen to you and try to arrest you. You send out a rush of hailstorm and blizzard in the stress and escape through the thick snow. With each step you're freezing more and more ground. It spreads. You cry and your tears freeze before they hit the ground.
What have you done?
Everyone, everything in sight, is frozen around you.
Frozen in time, unable to move. The sun hidden away underneath clouds darkening with the burden of hail and heavy snow. Lakes frozen from to the top down. Everything was so.... cold, lonely, and quiet. Streetlights were frozen over, and no light except that which escaped through dimming clouds illuminated the dark, frozen world. As the cold plague spread, cities were covered in shadow, busy roads were silenced, and the world covered under an unbreakable sheet of ice and snow. You looked around, and realized your unpleasant awakening had not been an accident.
It was a premonition.
A premonition of all this. Your guilt had been for this. For this empty world you'd created by accident, this icy storm. They'd hate you after this, wouldn't they? You'd either have to convince them well you'd work for them, overpower them, or run away. Life wouldn't be the same. Your curse had only grown over the years, had your anxiety and problems, and now it all spilled out into this.
Pure silence.
Deep inside, you knew that's all you'd wanted. But not forever, and not in this way. You wanted peace, just for a little while at least, not pure silence, perhaps. You only wanted to silence your problems. And, at the moment, it had been people and the world around you.
You looked at the moon. It was full and bright. Among stars, it was unforgettable. The solemn night awakened a forgiveness in your soul. You didn't want to be alone anymore.
And, for just the rest of the hour, you sat there on a frozen planet and realized how unbearable life would be without people.

If anyone here reads this I have a theory. As we all know, Gaster was the former royal scientist of the underground. We also know that he died...? Somehow. Anyways, my prediction is that he was watching Chara when she fell down in the underground. It shows that In Entry Number 17 also known as room_gaster, he was conducting some sort of experiment. This may not have been the experiment that killed him though. Now moving on to the followers. We can obviously tell that each follower said that gaster did in fact die when conducting one of his experiments. Maybe all the followers are parts of him and he is trying to get us to do something for him. Like if he’s in the void, to get him out. The first follower (the one that speaks in rhymes) also states that he was shattered across time and space. When he says in entry number 17 that “What do you two think?” A lot of people are agreeing that it’s either papyrus and sans or sans and alphys. Now going towards REDACTED and mystery man. REDACTED does have evidence of being gaster as he is the only Npc in game who is proven to speak in Wingdings. (The language that gaster supposedly speaks) Mystery man is another NPC that when you click he straight up disappears. I have a prediction that these are parts of gaster. Redacted is the part of gaster that speaks and has his personality, and mystery man is the physical part of gaster. Lastly, the sound test room. It is pretty clear and has been stated that when you click gasters theme, you can’t click any Other song. I have come to a conclusion that gaster is a huge mystery and is omnipresent and always there watching you and we can’t fully know what his true power is.

I just realized that this song has the almost exact feeling from Glade from Omori. Especially the pattern in the beginning.
The song actually resembles the first few notes of Your Best Nightmare (Flowey's boss fight) but yeah the Omori song is also very similar
I absolutely love both songs. Omori's feels suspenseful, and Undertale's feels ominous and mysterious. They are, in all means, terrifying.
This feels like the scariest song in the game. It feels somewhat like the cave of the past from Earthbound, with huge rocks looming over the vast, empty void

Years later and I wanna give my thoughts about Sans asking you about a “talking flower” he says he was talking about the Echo Flower but we can all assume he is used to lying, I think he was actually talking about Flowey but he still can’t trust us, so he just finishes by talking about the echo flower so then we assume that was what he was talking about the entire time.

I made a freaking dream with this music!
I was with a person who looked like Frisk but with longer hair and as a teenager/high schooler, and doctor W.G Gaster was a little far from us in the room, doing some paper work.
When the sort of older Frisk went to leave, I grabbed their wrist. They turned around with a questioning look, and then this music started. I opened my mouth and asked them "Hey, can I talk with you for a moment?"
They nodded, seeming unsure.
Then I told them quietly, so that Gaster could not hear.
"Did you ever dreamt about a person with short hair, and a green shirt with a single yellow stripe on it? Someone who looked our age?"
Their eyes widened, and they whispered a barely audible answer, something like a "How did you know?" Or "Maybe…"
I said more quietly "I did several times, lately…And weirdly, I feel like you know or have something with it too…"
They said nothing, but a sharp jerk and a small gasp escaped. Then, they nodded slowly and said "yes". We looked at eachother and silence, then they suddenly took back their wrist and left the room. When I turned around after watching longer than I should, I turned around to see Gaster staring weirdly at me.
God it was creepy…
Anyway, sorry for this sort of rant and long ass comment.
It's weird for me to hear about a dream that's consistent because if I had this dream it would probably end with Knuckles the Echidna doing the Charleston as Gaster absorbs me as I sing Poison by Bell Biv Divoe

Well actually, the beginning chords of this song match up with the intro of "your best nightmare", just slowed down. these chords are actually a bit faster than the ones in the intro of your best nightmare so.. it's as if the game is doing foreshadowing at this point about flowey

One of the most underrated songs in the game
this gives multiple feelings. A group of survivors coming to terms with the reality of a bad situation they are in, with no hope of being rescued. A group of characters notice they're being followed. you are alone somewhere but you know you are being watched. or even scarier, you go to a room of someone you thought was nice or cheery, and you find out they're a horrible person, like a serial killer or something similar, and they are plotting on hurting or killing you. or you find out about a friends suicidal tendencies and they have a planned date to die. idk, just some ideas.
When I hear this, I picture myself in a warm cabin up in the mountains up north, with a chimney lit, sitting on a couch by the window, just looking outside at the sky at night...

With this song, I can feel the shadows cutting deeper through my soul, a weird feeling that says me that I´m not alone despite there´s no one at home (or...I guess).

I figured it out. 5 years late, but I think I know why this track sounds so ominous; bear with me this might be lengthy. So I think it's safe to assume people naturally fear the unknown, right? That kind of ambiguity that sends a chill down your spine. When you're listening to the track, you notice how there's no real direction to the chords, almost as if it's pacing back and forth? With how simple it is, if you looped this track forever, you'd get lost on which chord you started on and which you'll end on, creating ambiguity. I could be overthinking it, but it makes sense to me. Either way, still impressed with this masterpiece of a soundtrack.
When I first heard this, a spill went up my spine and as we know you had just seen a dark figure about to attack you, it was just creepy. Undertale has switched from funni skeleton to some creepy stuff.
