  • At the orchard, I found a large bumble been that had got itself into trouble in a water container. I rescued it, and (caution, spoiler alert) it flew away strongly. This was mainly about testing out my new Canon EOS 200 DSLR camera, but also as I care about bees.

*Greetings from Nebraska. I was looking for the Opinel fillet knife and found your video from 10 years ago. I clicked away and thought "He seems really kind" and I had to come back to make sure you were alive and well. I'm glad I was not disappointed.*

I'm very glad you posted. Maybe next year you will post more. I followed everything you posted, and this fall I ordered some apples, inspired by you. Thank you very much for what you are doing !!!

What a delightful video. And, may I say, I’m glad I’ve found your channel. You sound like a delightful man. I’m suffering with a tumour in my head which means I can’t go out very much any more, so I’ve tried to bring the outside in to me through RUclips.

Sometimes RUclips directs you towards a random video that the algorithm has chosen that day and it starts a whole new adventure. These channels are a real privilege, there are some seriously talented people out there. I hope that you are able to benefit from successful treatment and go on to make a good recovery. I wish you all the best. Vox.

watched the whole video Stephen and when he/she took to the skies it made my day!, i have tried countless times with bees who seem to have little/no energy even placing sugar water on a paper towel but no luck, great to see that and thank you for the upload!

Great to see an upload! I hope that you had a lovely Christmas and I wish you a very happy new year! Living in the Rhondda, I have often found numbers of bumble bees on the ground in a poorly condition, even our heavy summer downpours can catch them out. The times that I have had tupperware boxes and takeaway cartons of bees in the house. I used to put them on kitchen towel to dry out, then add flowers dipped in water (or syrup if in late Autumn) and keep them in overnight. The success rate was high. They are such dear little creatures, I love them. They seem to make a home in the less obvious nooks and crannies. Another treasure saved! Well done and thank you.

It is nice to see it flying but I hope you will stay. It is a pleasure to see your videos.

I did the same except it was a mason bee from my front yard food forest. She too made it! I had the same wonderful feeling the moment I knew she was ok.

Thanks. It’s been a very strange year. We will try to make some videos for our friends. Nothing much new to say about advice on apple growing but if folks enjoy just seeing the orchard, we can do that. Right now it’s pruning and hedge work.

@@stephenhayesuk Yes please, anything from the orchard would be a true treat, especially in these trying times.

Glad it made it. Looks like autofocus wasnt on when you panned to the trees. Alot of your videos are of good content but of poor resolution going back to the 480p (or less) days. Hopefully full hd or even 4k will give you motivation to re-film some bits next year.
