John may need to put a patent on his box, he did a great job on it. He is coming along on his power tool skills too. Great to see you guys working together on your projects. Thanks for sharing.
Man just watching you and you son work on things reminds me of me and my pop take your time you’ll blink and he’ll be graduated college time sure dose fly
Hey there I like your shows you do here keep them up and I hope you make some new ones and I like your shows and teaching you how to do real quick I'm glad I have you on here remind name is David my last name is Florence I'm glad I have to hear this hope I want to know how foot tractors and I hope you put me one of your video I'm trying to learn from you how to put them
The box was a good idea, most people who would do this with out one would be having fun guessing about the bolts and which p-rod goes where! Of course there a lot who would think of a good way to separate everything that cost lots but hey!
I just watched a video where he used Oven Cleaner to break down the caked on grease, etc. Let it marinate for a while, then pressure wash off or the sonic cleaner tub. Does a decent job.
Thanks for the video I am going to attempt to do this with the engine still on a John Deere gator soon. Any regrets with the cheap gaskets or anything you would of done different.
You must have the patents of Job to teavh John , your son , what you do for a living. It is wonderfull to see in this day and age. Most fathers wouldnt. You can keep teaching us to👍
You should put a large plastic bag in the ultra sonic, to keep it clean, similar to putting a jar of water with the parts inside keeps the ultra sonic clean , while still cleaning everything, I hate having to clean after every use! A large thin trash bag would work, but require water on both sides say 1/4-- 1/3 to in the tank then the plastic bag, then finish filling, not over filling!
Hey, I have a question about the deck engagement cable on a craftsman 42" mower. Cable works, but doesn't disengage. Cable stays put when releasing the lever.
hello, I am putting together a briggs&stratton 21B807 engine and I have a problem because there is an arrow on the piston. How to point it up towards the magnet wheel??
Little John is very mechanically inclined, it's great to see father & son project. The oil somebody put in the engine is mystic or mechanic in a can it smells like burnt walnuts, That briggs is a throw away engine. That's what the man from Briggs told me 30 years ago, the have plastic cam shafts they are designed to wear out after the warranty is out now if you have a cast iron block I will rebuild those all day and have them bored out by a pro I will give you a year warranty on those.
Vanguards are all steel inside except for the oil pump gear, and I’ve never heard of any failure on these not caused by beating the snot out of it. Definitely not in the “new junk” category IMHO.
I want to build a large high powered ultra sonic, about 50gallon, and about 20-30 x more power ful, maybe dual tanks have a second 20-30 gallon tank to fit inside with parts to be cleaned, also including a heater and pump, capable heating past 200° F, and circulate through filters, around 1/2- to 1.5 gpm filtering in a 2gallon filter of stainless mesh and scrub pads, very coarse, with the uptown to nearly. Completely filter the water, a fine filter similar to a furnace air filter , stacked multiple times, flow about 2 gph,
howdy i seen you had videos of mtd belt installation a while back just wondering if you know the drive belt size the one from the drive shaft of the engine to the centrifugal clutch in the middle mine is a mtd 18.5 46 inch cut it recently snapped towing a grizzly 600 up a hill and i dont know the size if you do it would be a great help
My last one lasted 3 years and is in tons of videos. Its a blatant copy of the one Craftsman use to make in the 90's. But I actually like this one better because it is thinner.
Pull the Carb and soak it in something like used tranny fluid. You need something that will eat into the build up but not ruin the rubber and plastic. PB blaster or something like it will work but yet again soaking and let it eat in.
@@redneckcomputergeek Unfornately after soaking the carb for a week and trying to unseized the throttle shaft, the carb is pretty much junk. It had a mouse nest in there for who knows how long, and it probably a good idea to just get a replacement carb anyway. Any aftermarket carbs you'd recommend? New original is 200-300 bucks.
Why did you not pull out the Valves ? And Quick Value Lap? Just Saying LOL , You all ready had it apart and would only take 15min per head. I also Know what you are saying about the cheap China Value Seals , They are not worth using!! as they always fall RIGHT apart after no time. the problem you have you think was because of the carbon , Who knows how bad it was behind the Exhaust Value. Sure the ultrasonic cleaner would have broken up a little and everything will be fine.
Good questions: Off camera I forced open and checked each valve and seat. Only the P-1 had any major build up and rubbed out easy with a green scrubber. I left things like that out cause the average rip it down get it done builder would never bother. In a future video I might do an old fashion toothpaste grind job just to show it works. Ultra sonic wise I tried to get a before and after clip on the exhaust port but my camera just would not focus on it. The cleaner took out 2/3 or more of the carbon in there. Given some run time the rest should burn out.
@@redneckcomputergeek ya definitely good enough for what it is 🔧🔧 I like seeing your boy turning wrenches how I was with my dad that young working on lawnmowers and chainsaws
love your videos but for yours and your son's future sake please wear PPE - especially earplugs. Hearing damage is irreversible and tinnitus is a bitch - ask me how I know.
I like the video but I don’t get it… why would you have your kid stick his bare hand in the yuck instead of using the wire basket like he suggested? That stuff looked nasty 🤮
John is gonna be a master engine tear down kid here pretty soon. Glad to see him getting in there and getting his hands dirty.

Great vid. Doing this exact job right now myself
Thank You’ll for information and video
Really enjoy watching you fix them up and improve them

I've got basically the same engine and im having a REALLY strange issue with the engine, is there anywhere that I can PM you somewhere?
Having problem with mine as well...cranks without plugs but not so much with them in. Valves seem right so I dunno.
"Ok i dont know, you figure it out" lmaoooo, this is good parenting.

Mr Redneck, any tips on freeing a stuck throttle/butterfly on a carb? (23 hp Kawasaki)

Kind of Wish I had Kids who are interested in small engine stuff
BUT NOPE! When i am working on stuff they always run away LOL!
John is if he thinks it is for the racing side of things LOL
Looks like it's burning oil from worn rings/bore. Probably still will too
I was thinking about the same. As it is the engine will just be for testing repowers so not to worried about it.
