    i highly suggest make a video about nvidia 555.xx drivers, it solves a lot of issues in Linux desktop enviroments.

      I'm thinking the same thing because I already have the setup with Endeavour OS, but I need to see how long it will take me to go through the major fix list, and how to make the comparison visible enough for people to understand. Probably doing it this weekend and see if I can catch the trend.

    This was an awesome overall loook at hyprlands current state. When it comes to day to day use I dont really notice a difference between hyprland, gnome, and kde.

    I wonder why hypr is slower than gnome. I would've thought it would be lighter.

      I was surprised when the numbers were out, but I think hyprland will pass x11 gnome very soon

      GNOME is just the bigger project therefore more optimizations which means more FPS in games since more people try them in GNOME as compared to Hyprland.

    I can't believe Wayland is finally fixed, i'm using it right now, Steam and everything are perfect, better than X11 in some ways. I never thought I would see the day

    Driver 555 fixes all flickering on wayland, I am running hyprland as daily driver and also have KDEplasma installed for gaming with HDR, I have both installed at least until HDR on hyprland, running on arch btw
    Edit: I have no issues switching between hyprland and plasma

      And what about using gamescope?

    • @MumblingHugo
      @MumblingHugo  2 месяца назад

      I'm using the same setup now on endeavour, no flickering found

    • @korigun
      @korigun 2 месяца назад +1

      @@julioau gamescope right now is broken under 555, it crashes when games detect certain inputs, Nvidia made a comment on one of the forums, I don't remember if it was on nvidia page but it was from one of the official Nvidia accounts quote: 'we broke gamescope with an oversight on the 555 build, but it will be fix for 560 stable', so you either deal with wayland flickering 550 driver or deal with no working gamescope for 555 driver, pick your poison

      @@korigun I have an Nvidia GPU that supports 555, but for some reason, Optimus makes everything work all the time, no issues at all and I can verify that it's running things on the Nvidia GPU instead of the Intel one... Though that behaviour makes no sense to me, Optimus should only complicate things further... Anyways, on another note I recently uninstalled the driver and I'm getting 7+ hours of battery life on an i7 7500U and a 42Wh battery, which I find impressive :D

    offtopic but what's the best linux distro for gaming on amd? i tried endeavouros and it had lots of issues for me

    • @MumblingHugo
      @MumblingHugo  2 месяца назад +1

      Gaming for me on AMD GPU was fine when I had one before, but in general my issue with AMD is that it needs additional tinkering for obs studio, I'd probably go with either nobara or PikaOS, as they both have optimization for AMD GPU

    great video I am thinking of going fully Linux gaming with friends is the only thing that holds me back. Even if there is a 5% loss in performance I will switch

      It depends on what games you want to play with your friends, I had no issues playing last epoch recently, Linux was loading new maps faster on my PC compared to theirs on Windows

    It's really interesting. I recently installed Sway on my laptop running OpenSUSE with an Nvidia GPU to see if I'll get a better experience gaming on Wayland. I look like it's a "Yes" compared to my default DE - KDE. But I still experienced glitches while playing games (still an issue on Wayland + Nvidia driver). I hope to see the next driver 555.xx on OpenSUSE soon.
    If possible, can you do benchmarks on Sway vs. Hyprland vs. another DE on Wayland?

      I've been trying 555 on hyprland in endeavor this week, no flickering anymore but some minor issues when switching between hyprland and plasma

    Really didn't expect gnome to win considering how bloated it is. Maybe window managers excell on ram limited systems...

      Me neither, I was surprised when the numbers were out, but I think hyprland will pass x11 gnome very soon
