Everything postponed) 2021 Edgar Wright's documentary about them, 'The Sparks Brothers', made movie starved (after the pandemic) people went and watch it, even if they hadn't heard of them before, and became curious, listened and became fans. Later the same year their movie 'Annette' (directed by Leos Carax) premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. It won the 'Best Director' prize, and then a whole bunch of other prizes, 'Best Original Music ' etc. Then, the album after this one, 'The Girl Is Crying In Her Latte' came out in May this year (2023), they began the tour with a couple of spread out gigs in the USA, then toured The USA, and a concert in Canada during late winter and spring. Took a week off, and played around Europe for about two months (TWO nights at the Royal Albert Hall!), and took a short rest again. Did a couple of more gigs in the USA, one night a dream of theirs came true: Hollywood Bowl! A couple of months off, then they went to Japan, doing two concerts in October, finished the tour in Australia, three concerts. One in the famous Sydney Opera House. They finished the tour at November 2 in Brisbane. Remember, these gentlemen made their FIRST recording on January 7, 1967, in a "rent by hour" studio in LA. One of the songs, the EXTREMELY ahead of time song 'Computer Girl', psychedelic, amateurish, and superb, can be found on YT. The first released album named 'Halfnelson' (their name at the time) came in 1971, they were a full band at the time, re-issued a year later as 'Sparks'. Since it sold close to zero they were strongly advised to change their name. Didn't sell any better 😅. 1973 the ball started to roll, they went to England to do a couple of gigs and TV shows. After that only Ron and Russell were offered to come to England and put together an English band, and make a record. They did. May 1974, 'Kimono My House'. MAJOR success! In November they released the follow up, 'Propaganda'. That year they conquered Europe, however their homeland took another couple of years. @@stereomaster5490 The thing is to understand that we can engineer our own state of mind and experience of reality. This means that we remain in control, and we get to choose how we feel. What you described is a valid technique. I can find the place where life is beautiful, but it's my nature that I also see a lot of the darkness. Having the option to switch between optimistic and pessimistic world-views can be useful. I have never suffered clinical depression, though, so that's a whole other thing. But this video is funny to me because it's like "no, no, no, you're doing it all wrong". The negative thoughts aren't the problem. It's how he's managing it. My son can get into a similar catastrophic mind-set. The way out of that is humour showing him how it makes no sense to take things so far, and how to shift to a more positive mental state. Basically, to learn that it's not useful to be in that state, and how to change it.

I'm a Sparks fan, had honestly never heard of Cyriak, but when I saw the video I realized that I have seen artwork (or perhaps cuts from videos, I don't know) which I found really cool. I'm not a little kid in the twenties - thirties, double the latter and you'll be very close. I've been around long enough to not be suprised of what completely insane things humankind can achieve. Covid-19 won't be the last. "We" can do much worse.
