      Brits have their reservations about Americans mainly about their politics. This of course makes one wonder why these politicians got there in the first place.
      There is a feeling of "We are the centre of the world"
      It seems there are less floating voters amongst the population and when someone like Sarah Palin almost gets to become the vice president, the rest of Europe shakes their heads in disbelief. Your love for guns, clinging to the 2nd Amendment and the influence of the NRA doesn't help either.Most friends (almost all of them) in NJ and Santa Cruz agree with me. Some States I prefer more than others...as I do in Europe.

      +Kristen225 well yes most Americans from the south are relaxed, like in Alabama (where I live) they are relaxed because they do not understand the necessary intelligence to communicate in this generation so they have made their own way of living and segregated their beliefs into a more simple way of doing things. Which makes me feel foreign, even though I was born and raised here (it feels like your surrounded by incompetent human beings).

      WHAT???!!!! Where did you get that load of crap? What a moronic statement to make based on your tiny, ignorant world. Try traveling to other rural areas around the country and you'll see the same thing. It has NOTHING to do with no intelligence or not being able to communicate with this generation. I know many, MANY small town people who have not one bit of segregation in their beliefs and many city people who only want to be with those of their "own kind". Don't talk about others being uneducated and insult a whole culture just because you believe where you live is that way.

      Not even close to what I was saying. Worth noting is that Lee built on the already established US military's ARPANET, which could be considered the "first" large scale computer network. And the Brits are great, but let's face it, most things we use in today's modern society were invented in by Americans.

      *Ah America, where they invented computers, the world wide web, radio, television, telephone, trains, jets...oh shit sorry that was Britain.*
      You think Britain invented all of that? Alexander Graham Bell may have been Scottish-born, but he invented the telephone in the US (Boston, if I'm not mistaken). The US government also invented what became known as the Internet. Not to mention planes, which jets derived from.

If you want to see vast differences in culture, history, change of scenery and in many other respects, in truly different countries within close proximity to one-another, then you won't go far wrong in travelling through Europe.

    • @nickh.5301

      +anghinetti Every state has their own state flag that is also flown, and their is a big diversity of culture in California that includes so many different languages. However, you are right their are so many states that are not diverse and pretty similar. I found others to be so boring and I agree European areas are more diverse with a longer unique history.

    • @actfree6897
      @actfree6897 9 лет назад

      Ryann Palermo It's not an exaggeration, American citizens place mediocrely in the mediocre sections of testing and grades. For our civilized country, that's absolutely pathetic.
      "Stupid Americans have a tendency to also be proud, arrogant, and obnoxiously patriotic (though why this is remains a mystery)"
      This is purely speculative, but I can guess as to why. Perhaps they don't understand the many things with our politics along with being taught that we're the greatest by far has indoctrinated them to be so hardcore. And when they're surrounded by more idiots, this belief only amplifies exponentially. But I digress.
      Back to the main topic, most of our kids are stupid. Keep in mind I'm a "kid" as well. Though I hate using fallacious points, this needs to be said. I have encountered first hand many potentially bright children who are taught to remember instead of being taught to figure it out by themselves. This is partially anecdotal, but mainly from excessive study on said topic.
      It may be a stereotype, but it's the truth. There is not a single valid argument one can bring up to refute a thing I have said. And I still believe that we should make the school curriculum more rigorous. I'm sure we would fall even farther behind. This problem needs to be addressed in the future, but with our future generation, all I see are problems.

    • @BranMan10

      In Rugby, most tackles aren't likely to so much as even injure a player. In American Football, most hits have a high chance of KILLING a player. American Football players are a lot more powerful than Rugby players and the American Football players build up more momentum when tackling. So if they played without pads there would be more deaths and lawsuits. And the term "Soccer" originated in England.

      jazzyjeth I don't know but I heard so many Europeans complaining about how American are fake because they're way too friendly and bubbly when they meet new person. Turns out after they know them for a while, they're just not a person they thought, like they use mask 24/7 just to impress other people. Also, they think American relationship (friend/partnership) are really superficial and they always avoid 'sensitive' issues like race, religion, and politics. They talk more about superficial things, like celebrity gossip or just 'what are you doing tonight?' even to a total stranger. This signify the fakeness (that's what they said), because it seems that American actually don't really care about what other people going to do, but still they ask what they're going to do. I mean, they just do it, not because of curiosity but because of pure politeness and it's dull and shallow for European. Also, those European guys complain about how American only text/call each other once in a while, like they don't have any intimacy at all. I don't know though if these things are true or not. Maybe some Americans or Europeans here could give me some insights :).

      I think it's because it's so big and has a place everyone can love, Englands tiny, it's so small that the weather is pretty much the same all over and there's some nice places by beaches, countrysides and as for cities, Londons a big city if you like that. But everything like that, that we have can be beaten in America because it's so much bigger they just have so much more going on and because it's big if you could choose anywhere there to live you can pick what has the nicest weather, then the type of place you want to live and keep going till it's pretty much perfect.

      sorry, but if the UK was so great, there wouldn't be such a huge number of brits leaving for USA, Australia or NZ. Homes are small and the weather sucks big time. I am not american, but I recognize that the U.S lifestyle is much much better, even though americans are too stubborn to drop their gun habits. Nothing against the UK, I just think you can live better elsewhere. On the positive side, as I said, the british and the rest of the Europeans are lightyears ahead in education than americans. So you are right, there are many americans who would think that England is the only country in the UK.

    These videos are supposed to be fun and carefree and everybody takes everything they hear some person in another country to heart. We all act as if all other countries are the same. The United States is a HUGE country. Being from New York I can say that the people far west in the United States are WAY different from us in the east. Same with the south. Southern people have way different culture than us in the north. Not bad just different.

      TheAmandaAmazing A lot of things said on the internet from every country is ignorant. RUclips is an American website and the USA has over 300 million people so you are just likely to see more comments from them. However, if you glance objectively, people all over the world say so many dumb things online. You mentioned the USA having an educational ranking of 34 (I think it is actually 29) then you mention how it is compared to schools in mud/straw. The USA is just above Portugal actually. Lastly, the USA is the least homogeneous post industrial country, thus having more variations/variables in their educational output. Notice for example that 7 American colleges are in the top 10 best colleges in the world according to various publications. Your comment in itself is ignorant, thus proving the point that people all over the world say stupid things online.

      +English_Rose First of all, I'm not sure where you get your numbers, but they aren't correct. You seriously think that 25% of Americans can't pick out the United States on a map and don't know which testament came first? That is complete garbage. As a matter of fact, I tried to find those statistics, and, not surprisingly, they don't exist. I did find a study done by the National Geographic, in which they gave over 500 Americans a blank map and asked them to find the United States. In that study, 94 % had no problem finding the U.S. The United States is not ranked 34th in education. According to Pearson, who puts out rankings, it is currently ranked 14th. You have to understand those numbers rather than just take them at face value to use as fuel to insult Americans. Rankings are based on more than just testing, but the way that countries test is not the same everywhere. I won't go into all of the differences. You can look them up for yourself. However, the Northeastern states consistently score very highly, even against their international peers, while states with poorer and non-English speaking students consistently have low scores. The bottom line is that your rant is nothing more than biased vitriol. By the way, universities are ranked by far more than how many people graduate. Seriously, Ivy League schools admit less students than a public university, so why would they rank so highly if the basis was graduation numbers? With the internet, it's first use was by the U.S. Department of Defense, who funded the creation of ARPAnet during the Cold War, which used packet switching. It has evolved over the years, with contributors within and outside of the U.S. All your hate-filled rant tells me is that you are perfectly fine regurgitating the stereotypical nonsense that you've gathered from other pretentious American-haters.

Isn't that crazy for a country as advanced and civilized as US to have that extremely high number? Just ban the gun please! I heard a mother killed by her 2 years old kid because her kid accidentally pull the trigger (a 2 years old kid can't think quite logically yet), not to mention all of those school shooting and stuff. Seriously, I'm so confused why don't you ban that gun already just because of that proverb by your founding father "a nation who can't trust its citizen without a gun is not democracy enough" or something like that. Just ban that, there are thousands of proofs that it creates more problem than it solves one.

Shooting is a country sport in the UK, you shoot clay pigeons, discs or targets, like Archery or Fencing, it's a sign of culture and class - owning your own firearm for no reason shows no class whatsoever. 90% of this country is anti-guns, it's one of the things we hate about America actually...if you think you need to own a gun to feel free, I feel sorry for you guys. Yeah, American's big themselves up to try to live up to the hype, or to cover up a flaw. While Brits self deprecate so as not to boast, or to not disappoint.
      The outcome is that Americans appear positive in nature while Brits come across as negative.
      It's a double edged sword though. That positivity of Americans can come across as false and the negativity of Brits is what feeds out humour. But as Ricky Gervais said "I'd rather someone said "have a nice day" and not mean it than someone ignore me and mean it".

      whutzat Interestingly enough, Australians love American accents, especially Southern accents. British people, not so much ... Although, I don't see why they are so afraid of New York accents, considering they're very similar to British accents ...

    The one I'm surprised none of them pointed out the plethora of outstanding British (also Scottish and Irish) actors playing American roles so well that people never know they're British, where most American actors just completely obliterate the British accent.
    Actors you may not know were British;
    Hugh Laurie, House.
    Most of the Walking Dead cast.
    Most of the Game of Thrones cast.
    Damian Lewis.
    Many more.

      If you couldn't tell, I'm an American. Also, to discount the quality and great number of British actors implies that you either have no interest in film or just don't know much about it. I apologize if it stings your patriotism, but there aren't many American actors whom can pull off an convincing British accent. You may not concern yourself with portraying a character accurately, although I believe the majority of actors from all countries do in fact "give af" about doing their jobs well. Your wit and rhetoric astonish and amaze.
      Oh, and I'll take that to go.

    • @kennethdenson6635

      British movies are boring asf. British actors transfer over to playing american roles because then they get the big bucks. When you want to make it in show biz you don't go to Europe you go to Hollywood. All those British actors up there big break came from playing Americans. Except for the game of throne cast but hell the people who came up with the production are for the most part American and the people who created game of thrones are in fact I'll let you fill in the blanks. You wouldn't know who the hell those people were if they didn't run across those american roles. So back to my point why tf would I want to play a British role there's not enough money in it. Maybe just maybe that's why we haven't had any emergences of great American actors playing British roles because at the end of the day money talks and BS walks!! And then you act like american actors are some mediocre bunch like what are you saying now your discounting american actors!!?? Shouts out to my boy Harrison Ford, Mark Wahlberg, Samuel Jackson, some of THE highest paid actors in the world just to name a few. N o look they are American born and bread. And no you cant have this to go!! Sit your ass down at this table and finish your meal....

    i get the feeling that one of the main stereotypes of england is that i feel unless you're educated and have been there then you could possibly see it as everyone has the london accent, which is either cockney or quite received pronunciation so how they talk on the bbc and the upper class, same applies to america really where people will picture america sounding as California because it's were all the tv and film from america comes that as a different country is usually peoples first point of observing the culture of another country, yet both the US and UK is littered with very different regional accents and social dialect which are interesting, personally i feel travel broadens the mind so i really advise people doing so if they ever get the opportunity

    Come out east and then ask us here. Go to places like Harvard or MIT, or Boston, Chicago, New York or Saint Louis, or even toward the South in Houston, Athens, Richmond, or New Orleans. California attitudes don't reflect the entire US, It's too large of a country. It's a pet peeve of mine when people mistake Californian culture for the entirety of American culture. Not only that, but these places are actually closer to Britain and Europe, so you might find more formed opinions over here.

      Shanghaiknight2002 Congratulations. You utterly missed the point. Richmond, the capital of Virginia. There's a saying in the US: "There's a Springfield in every state". Not every town has a unique snowflake of a name. Often times when immigrants come over here, they name the town they found after the city they came from. It's why there are 3 Greensburgs. Sadly, not everyone has the sense of slapping a "New" in front of it.
      For example, how about Rochester, New York, or Venice, Florida, or Birmingham, Alabama. Berlin, New Hampshire, Rome, New York, and Paris, Illinois. Warsaw, Indiana.
      You people think we are nuts when we are so specific about which country cities are in, but it's for good reason.

      Kryptonic The second amendment gives us the right to bear arms. The purpose of the amendment is so that the government is afraid of it's citizens, because they have the power to overthrow the government.
      In practice, this will never happen. There are people who are really angry with President Obama and are spouting rhetoric that it is time to reboot the government (meaning revolution). IMO, these people should be jailed or killed. Some Texans are saying that Texas should leave the Union of the United States. Others state leaders have said similar things.

    We do not have inherently worse teeth than Americans. We just don't feel the need to 'fix' our teeth if there isn't anything wrong with them health-wise. Americans are obsessed with having perfect straight, perfectly white teeth, but if our teeth are healthy that's good enough for most of us. All the bad teeth stereotype says is that America as a society is vainer about teeth than Brits.

    • @becki8000
      @becki8000 8 лет назад

      Yeah, I get it, I do. But it is sad that a 9 year old gets teased about teeth! Teeth are naturally crooked after all- It definitely seems like your society cares more about appearance, and from such a young age too! Like you said a dermatologist as another example- but that's something else we don't really do! We just accept that some teenagers get spots, it can be a pain but literally never heard of anyone going to a specialist about it! Ever. There is a culture difference clearly.
