James loves his country as well as other genres so hence the particular feel you get with this. People say load and reload are shit but being a fan. All albums are unique and great at the same time
They are like any group that has been around for a long time and their style changes. Load is one of my favorite albums, AJFA being the best. St. Anger is the only one I have issues with and it's the damn snare. Some guys recreated the whole album with snare and it sounds incredible.

I don’t know if you know this or not, but James was looking for a vocalist up until Master of Puppets. He never wanted to be a vocalist, but he ended up being a staple in the metal community for vocals alone.
You should really try to react to some of the earlier Nine Inch Nails stuff like, reptile, wish, mr self destruct etc, since Trent Reznor produced the early Marilyn Manson albums which you seam to like.
