Best videos!...I lived near dryden for several years...miss that place a lot.
Dryden is a nice area for sure. Thanks so much for the comment!
Thanks for the trip! I appreciated the interlude at the 10.05+ mark. A nice, artistic intermission.
Thanks so much I always love looking for the little details to film that might make nice transitions, I appreciate you noticing!
Great video. This is the kind of content I like: regular guys outdoors having a good time. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Glad you enjoyed and thanks for commenting!
Always look forward to you taking us along. Thanks a million. Best, Bill
You are most welcome, thanks for watching and commenting I really do appreciate it!
Great video. I grew up in central New York and find myself growing more and more homesick to fish those streams I used to fish. I hoping to plan a trip there next spring.
You should its such a nice area and I virtually never see another fisherman!
Nice going one on one with that little brown. Especially rewarding that you caught him after the first refusals and then changing out the fly.
Haha I felt kinda silly putting all that time and effort into such a little trout but honestly sometimes its still as rewarding
I'm pretty sure I know this stream. I think you've done at least two other videos on the same stream. That pool where you saw the big brown looked very familiar. It's a beautiful spot to fish. I haven't fished it lately because I thought it might be too warm. I lost a nice brown a bit further downstream (but still in the non-stocked section). I also lost a fly reel off a friction reel seat when I got off the trail on the hike back to my car. It's probaby still there somewhere. I didn't care much for the reel, but it had good line on it.
Jon does a very good job of making it difficult to figure out what stream he is fishing.
Yeah I have done a few vids from this stream its fairly close and I always enjoy fishing there a few times a year.
Awesome videos man, any tips for fishing CNY? I live in Oswego and have tried some streams near Syracuse a few times but haven’t had much luck.
The Syracuse area does have some streams. Check out this book for some good locations/advice. a.co/d/6JSu4vY. I have found it to be very helpful and accurat, hope that helps!
That brown was telling your streamer to getoutof his territory
Yup!
😍🔥🤙
Thanks!
Thanks john great video
Thanks so much!
Another great one John
Thanks so much I appreciate it!
I'm sorry because I'm sure you've been asked this question many times. What is your preference? Dropper off a true tag or just hang it off the hook of the upper (dry) fly? Thanks.
I just hang it off the bend in the hook, never tried the tag method
Nice Brookies
Thanks I agree, love the brookies!
Nice video. You do a great job. I lived in the Finger Lakes area as a kid (long time ago) and was not aware of all the wonderful trout streams. Since both browns and brooks spawn in the fall, is there any evidence of hybridization? We call them tiger trout in my neck of the woods.
I have not personally seen one in this area but I have in other areas and its always so cool.
I grew up in the western catskills and still visit often, maybe a stupid question but what area do you consider central, n.y.?
Honestly I struggle with central vs southern tier vs finger lakes vs catskills , etc. For me Central NY is north of southern tier, east of finger lakes and west of catskills haha but sometimes I'm kinda in between and don't what to call it. I have looked at maps and they vary as well. Not a dumb question at all.
where is this stream?
stream looks amazing
I don't mention the location of most streams but this one is generally in Central NY
