The main reason we wear uniforms here is so your not discriminated against socio-economically. Otherwise, some kids will come to school with labels, and some will have no shoes or holes in their clothes. It's so everyone can presumably be on an even level in regard to appearance. Oh, and it's also to identify the school if any waggers are roaming the street causing mischief.
Plus, it's tradition
Plus they can last for the entire time you are at that school. Still use my same uniform for 4 years and still going strong, its because its good quality
Well said.
Your guessing
But I noticed the boys there wear high socks, which is strange, and they actually stay up all day, even if they run. Their is no way you can run and keep those socks up, but they do, and I've seen it at Auckland Grammer
Don't get me wrong we do hate wearing uniform but it's a sign of equity nobody is above anybody else
big facts, we all hated wearing it but it did help us.
was such a change going from sommerville intermediate ( East Tamaki )
to south auckland
from button up shirts, garters, strict shoe rules and strict collar rules
to kids with whatever hair and nail colour what ever socks, piercings, cuture tattoos, as simple as "black shoes", polo shirts.
i get its still strict to americans but what a relief compared to what i was used to
Most schools wear uniform in NZ, it's rare to find a school that doesn't.
In South Africa it's also the same. Every school in South Africa wears uniforms.
Fairfield College. At least back in 2006, lol.
Wellington high school is one that doesn’t. It’s only for emo kids tho
@@13thDeviouz Lmaooo RIP to anyone still attending THAT school 😂😂😂
All schools that are in the commonwealth wear school uniforms
I like that we wear uniforms, your not judged by your appearance, your not bullied if you can't afford nice clothes or shoes plus you save money... also makes the school look respectable and not like a community college like America..
I do like how much you react to NZ and poly's though 😊
Amen to that.
I just always got wholey socks 😂 but loved our uniform it unified us
I speak Māori. The line during the haka that caught your attention "kia tūturu whakamaua kia tina" - it's basically saying 'are we bound together?' or 'are we united?', it's a bit like a call to arms to his team mates. It's a line that goes way back hundreds of years.
uce how do where do I learn to speak this im a half cast know a bit of samoan but jak all maori and I'm nga puhi
@@brethereneluck301 bro there’s heaps of resources online , punch it in on google will give you the basics at least which I’d a start 💯
No hea koe? Tamaki Makaurau? or nahh?
@@brethereneluck301 yoooooooooo fellow Ngapuhi!!
“ is that sign language” 😂😂😂💀 you got me good bro
😂😂😂
I love wearing a uniform! So good. No judgement on each others clothing.
No stress over what the heck to wear each day.
I was at this game, I went to AGS. It’s good to see some of my mates faces after a few years of not seeing since we were in high school.
Uniforms for unity. I attended school on South Pacific island that does the same. We look out for each other when we see our uniforms. Everyone is equal in uniforms.
College in the US is University. College in the UK, Australia and New Zealand and other countries in the commonwealth... College is another name for High School
The second school (Kings College) is one of the schools Millionaires send there kids to, 30k a year just for school fee’s. It’s also mostly a white and Asian dominated school hence why the haka isn’t as powerful. The video isn’t old. College in NZ is like your high schools so the kids in the video age range is between 13-18yrs old.
Yoooo thank you for reacting to this, i love my culture so much and it warms my heart when people from other countries react to the haka. Thank you my bro 💜
The hats are dux hats. After a certain amount of games a player has played for the 1st grade team, they will be presented with this hat to symbolise there commitment
Love seeing our fairskinned brothers giving their all
Twano..... The uniform is solidarity, everyone in same kit, like military. Some of the good rugby schools are male only, the school is a unit , a whole force, this is why rivalry exists between the schools in sport, kind of like college ball
NEW ZEALAND CULTURE IS BEAUTIFUL AS FUCK & THE HAKA IS SO POWERFUL & BEAUTIFUL & MAKES YOU CRY HOW BEAUTIFUL IT IS AT THE SAME TIME & HOW IT MAKES YOU FEEL INSIDE 😭🥺❤ & HEY FROM AUSTRALIA DARWIN 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
You're correct, people who do kapa haka are mostly made up of Māori people and they practice all of the time. The rest of us only know our school haka and we don't even know them great as u could kind of tell. So yeah Kapa Haka performers would destroy all of us in a haka battle
Emmmm hmm too true 👍
Yes sir, these are the reactions I love to see. Not that dating Polynesian girls bullshieeet. No hate though Twano. Also if nobody else has told you already, your sign in the background is backwards to us.....maybe you can flip it backwards so it appears forwards on our perspective. Look forward to more reactions.
Daddy chill
@@uce-3538 lmfao
school vs school haka is the most intense
As the College school Truancy officer I'm happy they have uniforms so they easy to spot if they roaming around the streets hahaha
Lol
We just wanted to go to the dairy for a drink n lollies
I'd rather wear a uniform than pajamas lmao in NZ you'd get called a stink ass and told to have a shower if you wore pajamas to school lmaoooo🤣🤣🤣💀💀💀
The whole point of uniforms is everyone is equal. It teaches you consistency, pride, and discipline. This in turn guides you towards striving to be the best you can be as a student and leads you towards employment at the end of your education. Simply put.
@9.26😂😂 is that sign language 🤣👌🏽
Bro you are the second reaction video asking about the crown, the one school's name is KING's college, really not so hard to figure it out🤣
7:21 fun fact there are actually no swear words in the maori language.
Sadly😒
Reeeaalllyyyyy ?? 🤔🤔
Correct.
Tekeeeeee
@@yallahhabibi6757 😆😆😆😆
School colors & pride means more than fashion 🙂
We all wear our school emblem collars with pride. Its a culture.
Uniforms also help us form a bond of brother or sisterhood
It’s sort of like college in America but we go from high schools like this to university without this sort of culture. This culture is mostly a highschool experience in nz and Australia
Kia ora bro. Love your reactions. Those are New Zealand school uniforms. It's very British down here with many traditions. The advantage with uniforms is it's cheaper on parents lol and rugby is a massive part of NZ culture.
we be getting detention for our long ass socks not being all the way up🤣
I used to catch the ferry from Devonport to Auckland to go to high school every day. A long running sport on the ferry was the girls were upstairs and the boys downstairs. This was in the fifties and steam ferries. The sport on the ferries was to try and flick the school cap off the head of a pupil from a different school and into the harbour. I always carried a spare school cap in my case but never needed it. Also never managed to lick anyone’s cap off. Oh the good old days of the old Seddon Teck.
in haka the women have different movements than the men. they don't do all of the bending down that the guys do so they have slightly altered hand and upper body movements to mirror them
Um yes they do😂 The females he watched weren’t Māori that’s all, they were yt 😅
An also a lot of non Māori & some Māori females in NZ schools are embarrassed to do the haka that’s why they stand there looking clueless
Everyone be talking about the uniforms...
So that you know, there are separate Hakas for women and men (also for different occasions). Traditionally women would stand behind the men to show support, but would often be carrying something called 'poi' which is a spinning weapon, hence the very small hand movements, that is what you would use to manipulate the stringed weapon. They're not giving it a half go... it's the same as when one of the boys lifts their hand like they're holding a spear., it's the same movements, just without the weapon. Also a lot of the time the women will bulge their eyeballs hard out which is why some of the "faces" that you see happen, there's meaning to it all. Cool video tho man, much love from our way
It helps against peer pressure , I went a school where kids all rich and no uniform and it was hard sometimes because I didn't have all the labels. High school I had a uniform abd it's great you don't worry about what you wear you just get up and go
“What girls doin… is that sign language” 🤣🤣
If those kids got to wear what they wanted to school everyday.... there would be no way in hell they would be performing as a united group like they are here or in any of the other school boy hakas that I have seen. It's wonderful.
Dude, this just High School rugby. Just each team doing their school haka at each other.
2nd groups formation is a teachers trick. They group up close so when everyones is yelling you cant hear your voice. And because of that you try harder to hear yourself.
“What are the girls doing?, Are the girls doing sign language” had me dying🤣🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You come a long from your first haka reaction to now bruh, once you laughed at the reactions pf the.pukana and now your amped and want to play rugby. You the man bro! Kia tau te rangimarie
9:28 is that sign language 🤣🔥
in Australia we where uniforms so that disadvantaged kids won't be discriminated against for being poor, i think if America had our system the kids would benefit from it
in nz college is tecqneclly like a life or death situation its like wear the school uniform or get kicked out lmao
The girls aren't doing sigh language, the acts that they're doing is all apart of the haka, it's also tradition that boys are in the front and girls are in the back. And this kind of haka is meant for respect but also intimidation. Trust me it's ALOT louder in person.
The private school Kings College vs the public school Auckland Boys Grammar…
The hats the boys wore represent how many games they've played as a first fifteen player in their case its 15 games
It's the way you wear that uniform my bro,let your inner self show your individuality.
We wear uniform but some schools don’t. If you go to a school with uniform, theirs mufti day. Usually at my school it’s for a fundraiser which happens like 5 times a year.
Uniforms are given to us at school here for a few reasons, to know which school we attend so we get caught if we bunk/wag school, second so that some students don't feel shame coming to school in clothing thats not as flashy or up to date as those with rich parents etc so everyone can feel equal and also because we represent the school we ought to dress in a way that brings a respectful and reputable image to the school.
So basically Kings college and Auckland Grammer are the 2 top schools in Nz and kings college is a boys and girls school while Auckland Grammer is a all boys school no girls, but I really like your reactions! Keep up the good work and stay safe!! 💯
During the 2nd world war a platoon of moari soldier's called the Moari Battalion would perform the Haka before thete enemies to honour the battle they were encountering upon the enemy. Showing no fear at all which chilled the enemy in which some enemy would drop there weapons and run. Thou some would fall from the fire of shots at them they completr the haka before battle.
I love watch these guy's & gal's They for their Country ..Thank's so much
Great vid.
Also I loved uniforms. They where the best aside from some of the stupid rules we had to follow (for example if you’re a junior boy, your socks had to be all the way up, not scrunched down). Or if you’re a girl, your skirt can’t be too high (we all wore them high anyways lmao) The first time I had to start going to uni without uniform I hated it bc now I suddenly had to pick different outfits everyday after wearing uniforms since I was like 5
Noone is better than the other Noone wants to steel your shoes clothes cause they aint wearing labels Noone gets jealous. Uniforms instil a sense of pride
Dahahaha fukya bro 🤣🤣💀 " is that sign language" lol
You earn a cap after starting in 6 traditional games like this one. There are 4 traditional games per year so they are tough to earn
Harry Potter hats? That was hilarious!
20 people in one of the top kapa haka groups would destroy both of these schools. But that is expected because kapa haka are the serious haka people
The female Haka incorporates the same words but the actions are less exaggerated because the females are not expected to fight. Kings College in this particular game were the home side and Auckland Grammar were the visitors.
You should react to the Wesley College Haka and Chant I think you’d enjoy it 💯
Tipene all day haha 😊
The haka is taught at a very young age from kindergarten thru to college. Some kids join Kapa Haka groups so they can be apart of a group where they can extend their knowledge of the Maori culture. What you are seeing is the rivalry between the two schools. A lot of our top rugby players thru out our history has come from these schools and the young men you see playing, will one day be an All Black. The girls in some tribes do not do the haka so in support they stand behind their men and perform as their support group.
Teachin u to b ready for business the most important time of day. Business hours.
Them hats are for year 13 students only equivalent to how yous have seniors so when you get to year 13 in school and play sport you get the cap it’s a big honour
Tape on the head is to protect their ears when they in a scrum 👍
In Maori, the wh is pronounced as a f. Some of these words sound like cuss words but be assured they are not.😊
Don’t want to get that detention for wrong uniform😂
Don't forget they are speaking Māori. The 'wh' is pronounced 'fa'. So they are not cursing. You are hearing Māori words as if they are English. When you overlay your American culture on these things, you often misunderstand what you are seeing. But it's good to see your reactions. When you finally get to NZ, you will understand a lot more. :)
Awesome and Same that just made me want to watch the game as well.
Lol right
We get about 5 or 6 pares of school cloths man😂
surely watch Otahuhu College Haka Waiata competition next bro
your 4real bro, i respect that!
You can definitely hear the yt people in there but yeahp 2nd one came hard fr
trust hear it irl its loud asf and where also pretty tall to
dont mess with rugby people warning you
Thats our culture..hope you enjoyed sir
we have mufti day tho so we can show drip as u guys do but we just bring like random clothes to school
Wearing a school uniform gives you discipline. It's a stepping stone to being an adult and acting like an adult. Americia is one of the very few countries on planet earth that dont
The girls don’t do the haka bc that’s considered tapu(disrespectful) the men do the Haka to intimidate or welcome and the girls stay behind while the men protect them that’s why the girls are doing those little actions.
He said… tuturu whakamaua kia tina … tina!
this is the type of school fresh prince was in on the show
I agree with you that the 2nd group was better.. but they are the homeside and have greater numbers. Traditionally, the girls have slightly softer actions but are just as aggressive as the boys in voice and emotions.
Love your reaction.
Btro the only thing we need is tow things our mana&whaita 😂😂😂❤❤
What’s the word? Errrr I do believe that Bird is the word
Shotz to all the bois at Auckland Grammar (plus my million cousins in there lol nah shot)
We Kanaka Maoli of Hawaii do the same. We call it Ai’ha’a!
it’s a proper response in a haka and normal on the field bro. it don’t matter how many people, it’s how fierce and both were sick haka’s with the diverse range of ethnicities.
Māori girl from New Zealand here 🤍✨
Uniforms Stop The Standovers
🤣😭 @the sign language lmaooo nah cause girls aren't allowed to poke tongues out and do Taiaha etc. Females have their own haka. But yeah mixed school, you won't always get the full 100% like you would the National Haka Comps.
Shout out to Kings college in auckland, chicago Doyle and budda Doyle😈💯
but people would not know that school you go to. there is pride in wearing uniform. specially if you go to a very good school interms of sport. when the public sees you they show you respect and you are just as proud. in South Africa most schools wear uniform. we take pride in our schools.
Yo.2nd group is fire
Even white dudes in NZ get in on it! So cool
Hey bro you should do a reaction video to a New Zealand movie called THE DEAD LANDS it’s based on what us Māori people did back in the late 80s it’s pretty intense
that's the thing we do not have that show off mentality here, our schools are competitive but nope not show offs, plus it keeps the students who are not able to afford flash cloths and things from being bullied and it give some of us pride we represent our school badges in public.
Man I get where your coming from but to have uniform was great for me back in school only because i didn't really have nice clothes we were poor soo picture wearing the same shirt nd shorts like everyone else so you don't feel less of a person jus cos the other kids got richer parents then me anyways I'm not poor now so yeah that's how I feel about uniform. Y'all in the states have too many competition wit material shit but do y'all got heart! Knowing what's real nd what ain't? Let that sit ya digg 😁 great channel btw been following for awhile now
thank you
These are private school with real proper uniforms. Most high schools in nz just have a polo shirt and pants or a skirt. My daughters high school however wear whatever they want.
Grammar isn’t a private school. ✌️
@@mattmarnis my bad.
You should checkout South African school boy rugby
The women have different haha moves, it’s a different performance
Haka*
