The song is great, but Skylar Grey's voice is angelic.
Dre lost his son and got a little lost himself. This was Em’s way of pulling him up out of it. The video is much much stronger than this live.
Also, you’ve gotta love their relationship. Em could have used him to get ahead and then forgotten Dre’s name but that will never ever happen. Em has his back for eternity.

Oh man I think you missed a really good opportunity by not watching the music video to this song. The backstory to this song is also very important. This was after Dr.. Dre's son died and he was very depressed. A lot of his so-called friends were not around except for Em.

This song needs to be watched with the official video to get the full context. It's about everything Dre went through and lost... Easy E, Tupac, NWA, his fair weather friends, his son, his marriage and then his car accident. He was giving up and no one was there for him except Eminem. Dre was f*cking up but Em stayed like a true friend does. It's so very deep and you really need to watch the official video to get the full context. It's pretty intense
Technically this is a Dr.Dre song on the "detox" album. The second verse is speaking about the supposed album on how eminem thinks it amazing but to dre its not up to dre's standards on how the album should be.

I love this song! Em's emotion is so raw here, you can tell he truly loves Dre and it is returned. Everyone needs a friendship like this. Like you said, don't forget about Dre. He is arguably the most influential person in hip hop. He was instrumental in NWA, which changed the entire rap scene, bringing gangster rap to prominence. He was largely influential in the careers of Tupac, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and through Eminem 50 Cent; some of the biggest names, not only in rap, but music in general.
When Dre talks about Fairweather friends, I think of Snoop Dog.

This song is so powerful. the video is really amazing as well, you should check it out. Dre was in a very dark place after losing his son and was talking about walking away from Aftermath for good, and Em talked him out of it. I think this is Dre's hardest verse hands down (even if he didn't write it), and he's talking about people like Xzibit and Ice Cube that were really close with them, and then disappeared once they found their own fame. Literally everyone on Aftermath told Dre he was making a mistake by signing eminem, and Dre ignored them and did it anyway. Best decision of his life in my opinion.
