    CZECHIA (read "checkia"). Call our country Czechia, please. Our country has more than 1200 years old history and only very small part of it is
    the history of republican system. Czechia is a geographical name, which is independent on time and state-political changes in the country, thus, it can
    be used for our country both in historical and contemporary context. Not necessary to use that clumsy political name (Czech Republic) of contemporary state formation, which leads to undesirable shift of meaning (Charles IV was really not king of the Czech Republic :-D ) #Czechia

      Charles IV was really not king of Czechia but The Kingdom of Bohemia.

      funny thing, the Czech are the only nation in Europe neglecting their historical name, in case of Germany, France, Poland you would write it naturally, even if those countries did not exist in today terms. And this is the biggest advantage of geographic name, that it describes the country in its whole historical continuity, which the political name can not do, as its transient by definition.

      And Moravia and Silesia? It's not Your Czechia.

    • @sulista-consulting
      @sulista-consulting 8 лет назад +4

      Czechia is Bohemia, Moravia, and Czech Silesia together

      Tak za prvé, slovo Czechia mi zní samo o sobě obzvlášť odporně a za druhé, většině anglicky hovořícím lidem (zejména Američanům známým svým "nadprůměrným" všeobecným přehledem) se místo České republiky jako první vybaví podivné místo zvané Čečna.
