I agree with an earlier comment. Put NA pipes on it and check for smoke to rule out engine as the cause. And there's only two rules for turbo oil feed. BB turbo use the restrictor. Journal bearing no restrictor. No need for an OPR and certainly no need for concern about a few psi either side of 40psi. IMO get rid of the OPR and that dodgy oil feed adapter. Install the restrictor fitting straight into the core and new 4AN feed line to suit.
Been through the wringer mate but your persistence will pay off! Once it’s fixed you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing you didn’t throw in the towel! Let Maxx do their thing and keep us updated
Thanks for the support mate ...hopefully it will be sorted soon
All the best for kevo. Hope you get it sorted bro.
Orrr Wow good luck bother, hopefully next year brings you plenty of smiles
V8 and top mount charger with fix your turbo issues
You're welcome glad i could help
Ditch the oil pressure regulator and just run the restrictor. I use pulsar turbos and never had an issue with a built and non built motor. Videos on my channel.
If you crack the exhaust manifold studs you should be able to tell pretty fast if there’s engine issues.
Thanks mate ..will do doing a few other checks firstly..then 💯 exhaust manifold off to check engine...cheers
You’ve got a turbo oil drain restriction and the oil is backing up in your turbo or your crankcase is being pressurized by either faulty PCV valve or you’ve plumbed the catch can wrongly. Turbo seals don’t blow from high oil pressure.
They only wear out over time.
All your turbos should be fine.
Take your oil drain pipe off and blow into it with your mouth and make sure there’s no restriction to the sump.
Pretty sure one of these is your problem
I’ve been building turbo race cars since 1980.
One thing I’ve learnt over the years is that when there’s a problem,
the turbo always get the blame.
Cheers.mate ..will be redoing catch can to bigger lines ..and drain worked fine on stock motor ..but may re do it .
Much love big fella that one really hit home man I’m in exactly same position I’ve put my everything into this car this year 55k down with built zf engine an haltec an I still don’t have a running car , it’s breaks ya heart an can break ya spirit a bit but it dose make us stronger in the end an we will have a whole lot of new appreciation for the car of your dreams 🙏 merry Christmas an happy new year brother bring on 2025 🎉
Thanks mate appreciate it
Me too bruvva’s, hang in there
Barra life man, every Barra owner goes through hell trying to get to their goals. I've spent $100k on mine, and it's turn key 1300hp brilliant, however I too have had to solve endless challenges.
Never give up, you will get there!
Thanks bro ..that's the spirit!
Dude I feel for you. 2024 hasn't been a good year for you or your car. Unfortunately I don't know much about turbocharged engines so I'm unable to offer any advice, that's why I leave it over to the professionals. I'll pray that you'll have a better year next year. Looking forward to seeing updates on the progress. Take care.
Cheers mate ..appreciate the support
I'm hearing ya man. I'm having issues with mine surging and throwing rich/lean codes.
Put a standard aspirated exhaust no turbo and see if it smokes. Block off oil line and water lines
Also check intercooler and plenum chamber for oil
Great vid
Have you considered fitting a 6boost or artec exhaust manifold? Also, an equivalent garret turbo? Change the exhaust to one you know has no oil in it. Check the inside of the exhaust manifold
Hey Kev, check your catch can set up. Make sure that's fine/correct.
Yep it was fine before we built the motor ..same set up
Sorry to hear Kev honestly bud get your engine builder to fix this pull the motor again I haven’t had a single drama with my gen 3 pulsar and pushing healthy 750 with haltech etc keep ya chin up mate or send it to MONSTA torque and it will be perfect ❤
U been evil eye'd my bro..
Its an engine issue, nothing to do with the turbo, was always an engine issue. Max hasn't got a clue
I'm starting to think so ..but plugs and comp test came back mint ..time will tell if the engine needs to come out and be repaired so be it ..live n learn ..cheers 👍
Mate, what size turbo drain are you using? My mate had this exact issue with he’s turbo 80 series, problem solved when he stepped up a few sizes..
It's a 19mm hard line drain...was fine on old motor ....cheers
hey mate, did you use sealant on the drain or just the gasket?
Can we see the oil drain? As it sounds like it could be struggling to drain
Same drain on the hot side ..that worked fine for 9 month before we built the motor ..almost a factory set-up..19mm
@@kevspecfpvgtcofficial3592 yeah I get that man but has it kinked on installation when it was reassembled and put in with the new motor or gotten blocked etc, as what it's doing lines up with struggling to drain.
Also your catch can is border line too small hose and fittings, you're running the street version which is only suited up to 700hp, they can't breath enough for built engines that have larger ring gaps, albeit probably not the problem causing the smoke, but it won't be helping, anyway just thought I'd suggest visually checking the drain, it's a cheap fix if it's that
@@GENE_THE_NEMES1S it's a hard line return like factory ...💯 not kinked or blocked ..
And yeh ..will have to upgrade those catch can breathers ..cheers for your help 🤙🙂
sounds like the turbo is not clocked corectly to drain the oil as needed....or ur vavle steam seals are gone
Both are getting looked at soon ...thanks mate
You have a oil return problem
sounds like rings haven't
seated.
Not sure atm ..but anything is possible
I feel for ya Kev, regardless of what the issue turns out to be it shouldn't be at the expense of your wallet. Your engine builder and tuner should know better. There are probably hundreds of Barra engines Aus wide making Biiiig power without having ur issues. Personally I hope the Bore is not glazed coz that'll be ur worst case scenario in my opinion.
Thanks mate .. the engine builder is being really good ..
And yeh worst case glazed bores ..but will eliminate every thing else first...
Cheers mate
I’d be using dash 3 oil feed line that restricts the flow as well
Yeh i think so mate ...its a good idea
Before I finish watching the whole video Kevin , I never trusted the pulsar turbo’s,
Just saying !…. Did you say it’s the third 🤷♂️
We are just not sure what is causing it ..will find out in the new year 👍
My money is firmly on user error
Plenty of people have used these turbos and pushed them harder than this
Hey mate, I've got a 1000 odd hp Barra myself, have done a 69mm procharge turbo, then borgy 72mm turbo and now a 79mm pulsar 42 and have done every re birth myself. Do you have your catch can plumbed back to the intake? Looks like you could be oiling up the intake and it's going through your whole system and burning off in the cylinders maybe. Pull off your turbo inlet pipe and check for oil, pull off cold side intercooler pipe and see if it's oiled up, pull off the intercooler pipe on the throttle body and see if it's oiled up and if so pull the plugs and see if they're oiled up. If yes to most of that then disconnect the catch can from the inlet and hit the road. Hoping it may just be a heavy breather and the catch can isn't catching what it should🤞
Hey mate ..checked plugs twice ..look mint
And no it the catch can does not recirculate through intake system..
Cheers
