ZONEofTECH you said the stock will be limited, I didn't understand, do you mean they make an unknown amount of iPhone 8 and after they sell it they will stop. or do you mean they will make a limited amount of the phone at the lanuch, and after a while they will make another amount and keep continue like this? Sorry but English isn't my language 😖
ZONEofTECH so there is no Touch ID in the iPhone 8 the finger print scanner is no longer there, apple will use things like Apple Watch to unlock phones and 3D red camera with face recognition to unlock your phone. The only real issue I see is apple may be hurting themselves as people are just getting used to using Apple Pay with their thumb print, how would this work for those who don't have Apple Watch ? Would you need to look at the phone during time of checkout ? How would Apple Pay work with no fingerprint scanner ?
「FuJiKi-XI」 it's probably going to be the same situation that they had with the iPhone 7+. Where you won't be able to get one a launch if you don't pre order. For example, I couldn't get my iPhone 7+ until late January because no carriers had them in stock.
I think he meant that Apple would only be able to make limited amount of stock at the beginning due to the difficulties of making the new iPhone 8. Then more stock will follow.

Chris Fox Yes, agreed. To me it's kind of pointless to have to stick my 📱 to a pad and not be able to use it while charging! It would be nice as an extra feature if it doesn't take space away from other features, but I don't think apple should go out of their way to implement it.
the wireless charging is an option and FaceID would definitely be better if it is faster or just as fast as TouchID and works at the night using a infared camera
They must have some serious balls to remove touch ID for the Face ID because it has to be so perfect, that it can differentiate twins

I won't want an iPhone 8 without Touch ID - you can't rely on face recognition on its own - what about at night for example? I'll hang on to my 6s fir a while yet or, always be a model behind and get the 7s next.

The engage_power sound was music fly my ears even though it was very short. Ik it’s basically irrelevant but if wireless charging makes that noise I’ll be putting it on and off the charging pad a lot.

I had a motorola android phone once that had face unlock, and there was a setting where it required you to blink before unlocking your phone. apple can just implement that feature to make it more secure and prevent people from unlocking your phone with just a picture of you.

I still like the fingerprint reader as backup to facial recognition. He fingerprint reader could be incorporated into the Apple logo on the back. Most all cases are open so the logo shows.

I personally would wait until early 2018 for iPhone 8 since I just bought my 7+ early this year. I would prefer the Touch ID in the display.
I made to the end. I personally a delay to get to Touch ID in the display is ok with me.
PSA: A common misconception is that only the 10.5in iPad Pro has the Promotion 120hz display. They also added this to the 12.9in iPad Pro.

🤔 If Face ID can be more secure and efficient why would I ever want to use the thumb reader again? If Apple gets it right I say ditch the Touch ID it's going to be obsolete.
Radtech 51 no face id is gonna be obsolete when samsung puts the fingerprint under the display. Plus apples face id wont be secure.
Radtech 51 They're supposedly going for actually 3D sensing. So it wouldn't be the generic face ID. Meaning you can't just hold up a picture to the sensor or something. It'll actually be looking for the 3D features of your face. And it's supposed to work in the dark. So I'd say it's actually pretty secure. And if I remember correctly, Touch ID is supposedly going to be on the power button if they can get it and they'll focus on putting it in the display later. If the power button can't happen then they're solely going to focus on the 3D face ID. Depending on how fast it works and how accurate it is, the face ID could be pretty sexy.

Touch ID works in pitch black. It never fails on me and makes things very convenient. That and I don't really like the idea of my camera scanning my face all the time.
I'd wait for the under screen finger print sensor, even if it means waiting an extra couple of months.
I say don't release it until its right. This will be the first time that I've not ordered an iPhone as soon as it is available for preorder. I'm going to wait until spring when I can get 2 for the price of 1 at ATT. Makes more sense for me finances.

Not in a rush for the iPhone 8 and willing to wait until next year, Why because the first batches usually have problems so rather wait for those things to be ironed out but also keeping my options open for other phones and comparison between them before dropping over $1000 bucks on a replacement.
If I survived on using the iPhone 4 for so long I want the best replacement for it no matter Apple or Android and what pisses me off with Apple is they drop features for dumb reason and excuses where others have not and not taking customers for granted so no longer drinking from the cool aid.

What if the new wireless charger acted like a bigger version of Magsafe? Seemless charging. Phone "clicks" onto the charging dock. You pick the phone up again and the charger stays stuck as you pick it up. Turns out, the wireless charger is a portable charger. Then you carry around the charger and phone everywhere just like you do with Airpods and its case. How truly seemless that would be. Just a thought...haha
can apple consider to use the apple logo as the touch id sensor? may be enlarge the apple logo a bit bigger to get better sensitivity. i believe the idea works.

Maybe they could include the Touch ID on the back, tho it may look ugly, and still include Face ID on the front. Maybe too expensive for that

BamBasse You probably aren't. Hearing all the amazing things that they are adding it's sound stupid to drop it. Everyone was fine when iPhone didn't have Touch ID. It's just something they don't want to rush and make crappy. And also I know cases where Touch ID wasn't good. The face and iris scanner sounds more trustworthy.
I didn't buy an iPhone before it had TouchID. So no I won't be buying an iPhone without it. I might stay with Apple for a while and buy the newest iPhone with TouchID (7 or maybe 7s?). But the security/convenience balance of TouchID is simply too important for me. I highly doubt face and iris scanners can rival that balance.
Tbh, I'm not even sure I will buy an iPhone if they move the TouchID to the back. Though if that's the only option, I might just have to live with it, I guess.

ManiacMcMuffin FaceID is the future. Touch ID is a needed feature, but just for this phone, this is a temporary fix.
My guess is an iPhone 7S and an iPhone 8, new color, no touch id, and hopefully no charging port. A fucking good looking glossy phone

Face ID seems more intrusive and less secure. Imagine sleeping in bed and your roommate holds your phone to your face and unlocks it easily while you sleep.

I prefer to wait because I don't want to buy a phone that they just wanna rush to release it
With face id, acknowledging that it cannot be fooled by 2d photos, what if a person makes exact 3D model ( did a 3D print) of a persons face, then can it fool face ID?

I would wait for the perfect iphone 8. What troubles me though is how much usable space would it have for video and games. Would it use up all the screen real estate or leave black bars like on the gs8 when using native 18.5:9 aspect ratio

I highly doubt they can replace Touch ID yet. Reason is simple... Apple Pay. There’s no way the face technology is ready for secure payments yet. It needs to prove itself first.
