The poor reviews are surprising. I really liked its narrative variety. The accurate depiction of autism, the action scenes, and surprisingly good humour made the film worth the price of admission.
I just finished watching "The Accountant". I really enjoyed it. It felt VERY mature. I'm not sure why it has such a low score on "Rotten Tomatoes". I don't think this movie was marketed as your average-Joe's action movie, and it wasn't. Chris Stuckman hit the nail on the head with his entire review. This movie should be at least in the 80%-range on RT. I'd give it an "A" as well!
I think it's just the controversial topic of autism. You have to be very careful with how you portray something like that. The movie is for people mature enough to understand that having autism doesn't turn you into a superhero. This guy's was just Ina unique situation and it showed how his autism paled to certain strengths kind of. The movie is still meant to entertain. So making him a badass makes perfect sense
I liked it but the ending was really predictable. I picked out who all the characters were as they were introduced. Still a great movie but I think a lot of things were obvious.
Well I would not consider something I sat and watch and came out enjoying it a bad movie its obviously not as good compared to 123 but its still pretty good.
The fact that he has to say the movie is unconventional in that it doesn't hold your hand and tell you everything shows just how frustrating modern filmmaking and audiences have become.
I can only hope people give batman v superman another chance in the same light that people should see this. i love the ultimate cut and I really think that a lot of people might change their mind with that cut
the movie is likely very shit because of what bill dubuque is, a fucking hack writer who can't write to save his life in that industry. he should be fired on the spot or retire.
I do. But it only factors in to what Im going to watch. Im not going to waste 2 hours of my life on a shit movie. Especially when theres so much better stuff out there. Rotten Tomatoes isnt "Gods word" but I love it.
wichita blackhat ive seen the judge and it's one of the worst written movies i've ever seen. it was filled with uninteresting and dull dialogue with very little development or plot whatsoever. it was also very messy. the only thing that saved that movie were strong performances from duvall and downey. this hack also wrote the headhunter's calling, which has a 0% on RT with a 3.2/10 average. This guy is starting to become a red flag for shit writing. He's possibly the next Skip Woods.
Well that wouldn't really make sense because critics loved Gone Baby Gone, The Town, Argo, Gone Girl, and many of them, despite not liking BvS, even admired his work as Batman. I think the main reason critics are on the fence with this movie is largely due to the autism aspect. Plus it got a 50 percent on RT. That doesn't mean it's universally disliked by the critics. It just means that critics were divided. Half of them liked it. Half of them didn't.
I've watched this movie (The Accountant) no less than 6 times, and enjoy it even more the more I watch it. I'm so glad to hear that a sequel is in the making!!!
I loved this movie! My little brother has autism and it definitely reminded me so much of him watching this movie, of how organized he can be, that he’s great with math, and his memory is always on point. I recommend it for everyone to watch, its worth your time
I give The Accountant an A+. I loved enough to see it over 20 times. I didn't see it at the theater. I purchased the DVD. The most important man in my life has Asperger's and the similarities between the two are heartbreaking yet thrilling. (my sweetie is not an assassin but he is a math savant). What made me angry is the first time I watched it I put the subtitles on the screen, because of hearing loss, and they gave away the identity if the badass being his brother. This is the first time I've experienced subtitles prematurely revealed plot twists. The Accountant is one of my most favorite films ever. I wanted to see him have a new truck delivered to the people on the farm. 🥰🥰🥰
1. Straight-up action movies tend to do worse in the critic space since they focus heavily on scenes and choreography instead of story and dialogue. This one is no exception. 2. I'm pretty sure a lot of writers are sensing that Affleck is now an acceptable target because of BvS, and this is a chance for them to stretch their bad movie writing one last time before awards season kicks in. 3. Some might have hoped for a deep dive into how autism is managed, and may have expected something like Good Will Hunting or Rainman, which this movie is not. In my opinion, this was a great action movie that had a very sweet heart to it at its core. For me, the message the film was trying to pass--that people with autism-spectrum are no less capable of great things than you or I--stuck its landing very gracefully. The portrayal of autism by all the actors was some of the best that I have seen, and overall the acting was fantastic. If you like Jason Statham or Jet Li movies, or want to see an uplifting movie about neurodiversity, check this out.
I think it's mostly good, but there were some parts that were pretty laughably bad. I suspect that's the reason for the negative and mixed reviews. Ben Affleck's acting was great, though.
It IS really good.. REALLY good..... I really don't want to say too much and spoil anything, but I have not gushed this much about a movie in a long time. Can't imagine why any reviewer wouldn't like it, extremely well written, well acted.. drama, comedy, action.. requires some thinking.. yet not hard to follow. Just very well put together and written.
I laughed at certain parts, but I think we were supposed to.. maybe the reason it got some bad reviews is because they viewed it as making fun of autistic people..? But I din't take it as that at all...Mostly the scenes between BA and AK. Which were also so very touching and you could feel what both their characters were feeling.
Thanks for your positive review. This is my favorite movie. Ever. I've watched it countless times. My husband and I are both Aspies, so I can relate. There are only 2 things I would change: He would have insisted she remove the donuts from the table, and I wanted to see a new truck delivered to the farmer and his wife because you know he would have done that.
Oscar Maidana That's so weird. I have memories of him reviewing the film. In fact, he's probably the reason why I got into the film in the first place. Now I'm not sure if I just made it up all in my head, or if he deleted his review?
Oscar Maidana I'm not sure he did a actual review, but he it was #4 or #5 on his top-10 list the year it came out. He has stated elsewhere he really likes it as well.
This is one of my favorite movies now. So many of my interests in one movie.....You did a better job rating this then jeremy did chris. I go to you for a more cerberal aproach and jeremy for the common mans view.
Fullmetal Pissed off RT isn't a reviews website. All it does is take everyone's reviews and tells what percentage of them are positive. So that's what's confusing... how can this movie be an A- from Chris and only 21% of all reviews are positive? Hoping it's just because other critics didn't understand it or didn't pay enough attention
Fullmetal Pissed off yeah, if Jahns and the Schmoes (Kristian Harloff and Mark Ellis) like it, I know for sure that I will like it. I tend to agree with Stuckmann more than anybody and I'm a huge Affleck fan, so I'm still confident that it's a solid film
Right when you said autism Chris, I immediately wanted you to review Barry Levinson's 1988 Best Picture winner Rain Man. Tom Cruise deserved an Oscar nomination and Dustin Hoffman fucking floored me.
We saw this movie last night, and I have to say that I was really blown away by it. Thinking more on it, it's probably one of my favorite movies of this year not only for its craft, acting, plot, pacing, etc, but also because it was an incredibly original movie... something that we don't get too often. Sure, we can all say that we've seen the "unassuming guy who's secretly a bad-ass" movie before, but the way this was presented was entirely original and something I've never seen before. Plus it really makes me want to see more of this world. I do kind of want this to be a franchise like the Bourne movies (not quite that many tho), I'd like to see another story with these characters now that we have them all fully fleshed out.
Whoa, that is a 180 turn from what the RottenTomatoes are giving it so far (24%). It's a shame cuz I wanted this movie to be good. But then again Chris' judgment is something I take seriously, so I think I will give this movie a try after all.
I wouldn't call it garbage. I actually enjoyed it quite a lot. It could've been disappointing for some but I wouldn't call it a bad movie as a whole. It did everything that the avengers did and more.
Ashwin Vijayaraghavan and that's the problem why it's such a shit movie. IT DID EVERYTHING the first movie did. that is unoriginal as shit and just a downgraded rehash of what was already established. it brought nothing new to the table.
UnbelievabIeMontages I actually really liked Age of Ultron. See, this is why there are movies where I can't rightly side with anyone until I see it for myself.
I am glad to say that I loved this movie as well Chris, I thought the combination of the action scenes with the comedy reliefs were done perfectly and I didn't feel that the tone was changing too drastically from scene to scene, I thought it was flowing well. Definitely agree with you on the performances of Ben Affleck and his young counterpart as autistic people.
Just finished the movie! Loved it! Ben Affleck did an amazing job portraying his character. The pacing of this film was captivating and the character development was interesting
I loved this movie, one of my favorites by far. A def bluray buy form e. Ben Affleck is easily becoming my favorite actor in hollywood. Also I got a lil teary-eyed upon one of the reveals at the end of the film, a pleasant surprise, wondering what became of that character. Great job movie, you're one of the few to make me emotional of multiple reasons!
Yeah, having Autism has been very difficult for me in my life. I get overwhelmed very easily and I occasionally have meltdowns. While I'm not a badass like Batfleck in this movie, I do have the ability to draw very well. I'm currently working my way into the comic book industry and it's been a journey. I hope that I can show people what people with Autism are capable of.
Though it may appear he is hurting himself by using a stout stick to iron down his shinbone, it is actually a conditioning technique particularly used by Muay Thai fighters to harden and desensitize their shins for devastating kicks and blocks. I am so glad the movie did not try to shoehorn a romance between Ben Alleck's and Anna Kendrick's characters.
DewTheDrew And who cares what your bias ass thinks, you probably haven't even seen Ghostbusters nor gave it a real chance, truth is, critics are less bias than general audiences/fans, and know what the fuck they're talking about when it comes to movies, go listen to racist, biased, sexist morons on IMDB
Rotten Tomatoes didn't give it bad reviews, it just collected reviews from several critics, most of which thought the film wasn't good, and aggregated them. It's that simple. Trust whoever you want to trust, but at least know about the website you're criticizing.
they dont give movies reviews. they have a whole bunch of reviewers and have them grade the movie and then they combine the scores to make a percentage
I just went and saw it yesterday and my friends and i were all blown away. We thought it was an amazing movie. I'm considering going to see it a second time.
An intense and sophisticated action-drama that shatters your sunday evening blues with incisive screenplay and sublime cinematography. Ben Affleck steals the show with his exceptional portrayal of an autistic accountant. The story thrillingly moves a tad slowly, towards a turbulent finale. Excellent performances by supporting actors keep you immersed, making the movie worth watching. The Accountant, a different one-man army!
You were so right! This movie was freaking awesome! Character development, editing, action sequences, the non comedic humour and the twist at the end was great! Great review man!
Great review. I was really starting to look forward to seeing this movie after seeing the trailers about 50 times. Seeing your review has sealed my choice to see it. Thanks for no spoilers. Also I just saw the trailer for the power rangers movie and it looks so far pretty damn amazing. A hell of a lot better than the tv show.
This film made me realise that I'm autistic. I went for a diagnostic, and it's been confirmed that I have a mild form of autism which to me is awesome because I have a piece of my identity that I never had before I think it's cool that you used to work with autistic people its takes a really good person to do that job of taking on us autistic people so thank you for supporting us ❤
I LOVED this film! I would definitely call it more of a quiet character study with some action in it rather than a conventional action thriller. I totally agree with you, Chris. I loved the way it took its time to flesh out its characters through the flashback. This is one of my favorite films of the year so far. A- from me as well.
This is the first review that I have read on The Accountant. I was going to see it irregardless of reviews because I was so intrigued by the trailer, but this review confirms my opinion. Thanks C.S.
I love Harry Potter so I pray it is good...but it really looks like another Hobbit or Star Wars, a prequel that milks a well-known title with childish gags and animation
DEFxRECON I know, lol. But all of there movies that were supposed to be big hits have not done well at all. And The Nice Guys was a box office bomb, regardless of critical praise.
When Ben Affleck and Matt Damon wrote 'Good Will Hunting' it was originally about a genius/spy/assassin who had a therapist. It was on the advice of a senior script writer, who suggested that they change the focus of the movie. So they did. They got rid of all the action and made 'Good Will Hunting'. So I think you're right. This movie is a rehash of the one they originally wanted to do.
D0nutLord How can an accumulation of critic's opinions be completely wrong? I mean, it would be if the critics lied or RT lied about their score. Or unless you mean their consensus is usually wrong. Which makes no sense at all.
Giant Squid It very well could be wrong. As far as I can see, movie that deviates from the norm of its genre usually gets fairly low rating. It's quite unfortunate that people nowadays just can't seem to form their own opinions without Rotten Tomatoes and critics.
As a guy with aspergers syndrom having gone to school with autists for a large portion of my childhood I would say this is one of the best portrayals of autism I have seen on movies to date, together with Christian Bale in The Big Short. Chris is right that hollywood has a tendency to make it into lush stereotypical characters and I really appreciate that this film didn’t do it too much, although sometimes it was maybe exaggerated a little bit, theres the scene where Kendricks character says the phrase “where fun goes to die” and he responds “why would fun go there to die?” To me that seemed a bit over the top, but all autists are differen’t, theres a lot of truth to the scene in the whole problematique, I just felt like they were spelling it out for the viewer a bit too much, often the inadequacies of autism doesn’t lie in what is said but in what is not said and that is what haunts you as an autist, going mentally crazy because you literally just don’t get people and their way of expressing themselves, their motivations, their body language, you feel like an alien dumped on a foreign planet and I haven’t seen a portrayal of an autist where they actually go behind the funny awkward situations (notice how autism is usually just used as comedic relief in movies) and actually show the pain of not feeling relatable to anyone, I haven’t seen that until just now, thank you Ben Affleck!
What I don't get, is how different your score is from rotten tomatoes. It is rare that you give an A while rotten tomatoes gives an F. But I'll trust your opinion first and go see it anyway
RT doesn't give scores. It's an aggregate site that collect reviews from many critics and determines it's fresh/rotten score depending on whether critics gave the film a 3/5 or over (fresh) or anything below 3/5 (rotten).
It never used to always be that way on this channel. On his older reviews his opinion was as close to what rotten tomatoes said about the film but I guess as he got older he got more opinionated I don't know but I always trust his reviews.
Me and my brother just watched the Accountant last night. That movie was awesome, my only regret was that I wished I had seen that movie in the movies instead of the crap that was Jack Reacher 2. That final scene at the end also floored me as well, it was a nice touch for a call back to a certain character at the beginning. I'm hoping for a sequel were they can finally focus on the present since all the backstory was revealed during the first. I always enjoy your smart reviews!!!! Keep it up guy!!!!!!
What were critics thinking when they gave this movie such terrible reviews, this movie was fantastic. I'm glad we have people like Chris that review movies in an actual competent manner with good points and discussion that backs up all these points they're making instead of just nonsensically trashing good filmmaking
Chris thank you for your services on kids with special needs, every little thing helps. I know my child gets worried and uncomfortable whe "his" lol! bus driver is not driving. kids get attached even when you think there are not they care
As someone who has ASD, and is related to a few others with ASD I can say this is really accurate, and it did my heart good to see it shown in such an accurate and positive way.
I'm just returning to this review to thank you Chris. If I had listened to general critics I'd not have seen the best movie I've seen since I saw The Nice Guys in the cinema.
To be honest, I follow you and think a lot about your reviews. I don't watch or pass on movies based on reviews, as most reviewers don't know what I like. But you come close, hence the sub.I think your review is pretty spot on, my GF who was a special-ed teacher said the same thing about the way the kids and Bens character are in the movie. One of the better movies this year so far. Thanks for your review.
I love your reviews Chris! I can always rely on your reviews to help me to decide if I should watch movies that I'm on the fence on. Your reviews are entertaining and very informative.
Just got out of seeing this movie. Far better than I anticipated, even though I anticipated it being a good flick. I know this guy mentioned John Wick...I did get a John Wick feel from time to time during this movie. Highly recommend this movie.
Green Semicircle I saw it. I mean it has a couple of good jokes and a kinda interesting but mostly stupid plot twist at the end but it was pretty bad. The comic book parts were annoying and didn't fit in. D+ at best
Just finished watching it, and it was great. That scene at the end that "floored" Chris was especially awesome to me as well. Definitely worth checking out. Just an FYI, the strobe lights, heavy metal music, and pressure inducing tactics he used on himself weren't necessarily punishment; they appeared to be sensory bombardment techniques continuously used for desensitization. ~_~
Yes, it reminded me of techniques used EMDR therapy (although not the stick bit lol) that get you to centre and focus and 'get out of your own head' - brilliant 💖
With what Affleck had to work with in his character, he was amazing. Stole the show for me.
Stole the show?
Wasn't he supposed to be the star of the movie, or did you forget?
*Correction: he owned his own show
The poor reviews are surprising. I really liked its narrative variety. The accurate depiction of autism, the action scenes, and surprisingly good humour made the film worth the price of admission.
Accurate depiction of the life of an accountant too.
It was very unique in a great way.
I truly don't understand the low RT ratings... baffling. l Such a a good, simple, relatable film.
The one year Matt Damon's Bourne has a bad movie, Ben Affleck steps up and is like "Sit down Matty, I got this."
the bourne film wasnt even a bad movie it was still really enjoyable.
There's a difference between a movie being good and you enjoying it.
Lee Cameron Nah it sucked
Well I would not consider something I sat and watch and came out enjoying it a bad movie its obviously not as good compared to 123 but its still pretty good.
King of Wakanda not hearing very good things about this besides Chris
The fact that he has to say the movie is unconventional in that it doesn't hold your hand and tell you everything shows just how frustrating modern filmmaking and audiences have become.
Like with batman v superman.
I can only hope people give batman v superman another chance in the same light that people should see this. i love the ultimate cut and I really think that a lot of people might change their mind with that cut
Ian Levinson I hope you're joking, I really do
given the reaction many people had after watching the Ultimate Cut? I don't think so
Realhero25 He's one of the people that the op was talking about
25% on rotten tomatoes?! Really? I'm so glad I don't even give that a site a second thought
the movie is likely very shit because of what bill dubuque is, a fucking hack writer who can't write to save his life in that industry. he should be fired on the spot or retire.
Z they're not wrong. look who wrote the fucking movie.
I do. But it only factors in to what Im going to watch. Im not going to waste 2 hours of my life on a shit movie. Especially when theres so much better stuff out there. Rotten Tomatoes isnt "Gods word" but I love it.
UnbelievabIeMontages didn't you could time travel to see the movie that isn't out yet..

you're dead on. Watch it last night and man, it's an amazing movie.
Now, its all clear..
Rotten Tomato doesn't hate DC, They hate Ben Affleck..
Well that wouldn't really make sense because critics loved Gone Baby Gone, The Town, Argo, Gone Girl, and many of them, despite not liking BvS, even admired his work as Batman. ItzSilentStorm Bro he's Daredevil
Probably because his stance on Islam and Muslims he got a lot of hate from that interview he did
"he grows up to become Ben Affleck""
LMAO! I LOLed on that one too!
a tragedy
nabhan qures
matthew woodall we got punisher, batman daredevil, j Jonah Jameson commissioner Gordon, damn son
I'll give old Ben credit for one thing, he was able to nail that Spanish Broad (the one with the Big Butt).
"... stars Batman, Commissioner Gordon, Squirrel Girl, and The Punisher."
anna is squirrel girl ??
adli afiq She's expressed interest in playing the part. Nothing official yet.
Homeschool Dropouts I despise squirrel girl.
+Warrior Studios yeah so do
Homeschool Dropouts the only ever time I want to see Squirrel Girl on the big screen is as a floor rug
I've watched this movie (The Accountant) no less than 6 times, and enjoy it even more the more I watch it. I'm so glad to hear that a sequel is in the making!!!
this comment was 6 years ago, good thing it will be released this april 2025
I trust chris' reviews more than I trust rotten tomatoes lately.
I loved this movie! My little brother has autism and it definitely reminded me so much of him watching this movie, of how organized he can be, that he’s great with math, and his memory is always on point. I recommend it for everyone to watch, its worth your time

What's up with all the negative reviews for this movie? It actually looked really good!
Insomniac Reviews don't listen to them. This movie was fantastic

The only thing weird was your comment....
Jim Stewart Cohen ...that was great-lmao!!!!!!
Legend says if you don't like a joke, you can just move on without wasting your time on it
A combination of Good Will Hunting and Jason Bourne>. *SOLD*
I wish I had Anna Kendrick in my life
Birdman she is...
Too bad you are a washed up piece of shit actor. You better get on Birdman 4 if you want that piece of candy ass.
Birdman I'll give you her number.....
SYKE! You get nothing. She's mine.
Birdman why? She's ugly
Beauty is very subjective.
I LOVE THIS MOVIE. I think the tone is perfect start to finish. A+ 💯
Thanks for your positive review.
With the puzzle pieces theme, I find the unconventional narrative very fitting.
Good to hear how much you liked it, got worried with the rotten tomatoes score.
RT is not an entity. RT is a culmination of critics. In fact, I bet Chris' review is on there.
yo fullmetal dude rotten tomatoes doesn't review shit. it's an accumulation of many reviews from different critics.
Fullmetal Pissed off pretty moronic statement if you ask me. it's their opinion. have you watched the accountant yet?
It was an extremely well done movie. Fullmetal is right, the ones who don't like it are obviously not paying attention.
dan95c I would never understand why do people look at Rotten Tomatoes. IMDb is better their ratings are more accurate
"Good Will Hunting and Jason Bourne, thrown into one." My thoughts exactly! 😄
Chris says it's good? I'll go watch it now.
“Raymond King, were you a good dad?” Hit me really hard
Chris. You never did the review of WARRIOR. Please do it. It would be so nice.
I could have sworn he did. He talks about it a lot.
Hank Pym i never found it
Oscar Maidana That's so weird.
Okay, I've done some research. Chris DID in fact review Warrior. But he deleted his old video review, for some reason.
1:16 the other 'girl' is Cynthia Addai-Robinson and she plays Marybeth Medina, an analyst.
I will not accept any Anna Kendrick slander. She's a bombshell
Shes average at best.
***** fight me
I'm with ya bro she's fuckin banging
She's OK. But please...Rachel McAdams is a bombshell.
***** they can't co-exist?
This is one of my favorite movies now. So many of my interests in one movie.....You did a better job rating this then jeremy did chris. I go to you for a more cerberal aproach and jeremy for the common mans view.
If you like finance, martial arts, guns, The concept of training kids to be badass from a young age, and dead pan humor.....watch it.
yep. I've got some accounting background and it helped me appreciate the film
review Donnie darko or I'll drop a plane engine on you
Terra Emotus have you read his book? He talks about Donnie Darko it's one of his favorite movies of the 2000s.
good to know I still think he should review it
Terra Emotus ok. But buy his book! It's really good and he talks about a lot of recent movies that are his favorites.
King of Wakanda i have , but a review of it is always nice.
What's a fuck ass?
I'm excited for this movie and even more now that your review was positive. But how in the hell does this movie have a 21%?!
sinister kiid RT is irrelevant, no one cares about those old critics anymore
Fullmetal Pissed off RT isn't a reviews website. All it does is take everyone's reviews and tells what percentage of them are positive. sometimes critics get it wrong. 21% doesn't mean it's bad. just means that 21% of the people that reviewed it didn't like it
It's now up to 52%.
Legend says if you come early, Chris will reply.
nice try

Your sex life is fucked.
But then again Chris' judgment is something I take seriously, so I think I will give this movie a try after all.
you can't always trust chris, he gave that garbage age of ultron a B+
UnbelievabIeMontages fuck him for having an opinion right?
Hey I'm glad to see that you didn't see that scene at the end coming, either!
BB Wolf which scene? the one with the dogs?
Very end, can't get too specific I spoilers!
the one with the thing about the person
I am glad to say that I loved this movie as well Chris, I thought the combination of the action scenes with the comedy reliefs were done perfectly and I didn't feel that the tone was changing too drastically from scene to scene, I thought it was flowing well. Definitely agree with you on the performances of Ben Affleck and his young counterpart as autistic people.
Wow, nobody wrote "First".
Rrock Cj first
Rrock Cj you jinxed it
Han shot first.
D0nutLord how? By living on this planet? I wrote the comment long after this should have happened? Where`s the logic? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Rrock Cj U just did
Good to know they finally released Good Will Hunting 2 : hunting season.
If they went with the romance, it would've felt
Chris seems to give good reviews. I wonder why rotten tomatoes have given it bad reviews
True, I usually prefer Chris's reviews anyway
DewTheDrew And who cares what your bias ass thinks, you probably haven't even seen Ghostbusters nor gave it a real chance, truth is, critics are less bias than general audiences/fans, and know what the fuck they're talking about when it comes to movies, go listen to racist, biased, sexist morons on IMDB
"They" (RT) didn't give Ghostbusters a 70%, that's the average from reviews they pull from many other reviewers.
Ben Affleck in this movie is basically Rokuro Okajima (Rock, Black Lagoon), tends to infinity.
good observation
That reminds me...I gotta finish Black Lagoon.
eh?
I just love black lagoon!
OOOH GOOD FOR YOU and HOW WAS IT?! I HOPE IT WAS FUCKING GOOD BECAUSE IT'S USELESS NOW ISN'T IT!
I just went and saw it yesterday and my friends and i were all blown away. We thought it was an amazing movie. I'm considering going to see it a second time.
So Ben affleck is playing batman, with autism.
exactly what I was hoping to hear. Really looking forward to watching it Friday
I have mild Autism so this movie looks fascinating to me. Awesome review.
I went for a diagnostic, and it's been confirmed that I have a mild form of autism which to me is awesome because I have a piece of my identity that I never had before I think it's cool that you used to work with autistic people its takes a really good person to do that job of taking on us autistic people so thank you for supporting us ❤
Spoiler:
Gavin O'Conner really has a thing for estranged brothers, doesn't he? Lol
Peter Fedyk That's exactly what i thought
And daddy issues...
Love how you give great reviews without spoiling the entire story. Thumbs up for you.
I enjoyed watching the movie and I enjoyed your judgement of this film.
I LOVED this film! I would definitely call it more of a quiet character study with some action in it rather than a conventional action thriller. I totally agree with you, Chris. I loved the way it took its time to flesh out its characters through the flashback. This is one of my favorite films of the year so far. A- from me as well.
I can't wait for Live by night...and of course,I can't wait to see Ben Affleck's Batman solo film !
This is the first review that I have read on The Accountant. I was going to see it irregardless of reviews because I was so intrigued by the trailer, but this review confirms my opinion. Thanks C.S.
This has not been a good year for WB at all... Fantastic Beast will hopefully be good...
#preach
I love Harry Potter so I pray it is good...but it really looks like another Hobbit or Star Wars, a prequel that milks a well-known title with childish gags and animation
The Nice Guys......
The Nice Guys was the best movie this year. Just because they're shit at DC movies doesn't mean they're shit at almost everything else.
Yeah I don't think I can see Robin Williams in a movie like that. I'm glad they changed it.
Apparently this film only has a 21% on RT. I know it's not a very reliable source, but hmmm
where is that rating?? It says tomatometer not available for me
www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_accountant_2016
D0nutLord rt is more often than not completely wrong, as a rule don't trust it
D0nutLord How can an accumulation of critic's opinions be completely wrong? I mean, it would be if the critics lied or RT lied about their score.
Or unless you mean their consensus is usually wrong. Which makes no sense at all.
Giant Squid
It very well could be wrong. As far as I can see, movie that deviates from the norm of its genre usually gets fairly low rating. It's quite unfortunate that people nowadays just can't seem to form their own opinions without Rotten Tomatoes and critics.
+MrToastedCrumpet It's still way more trustworthy than IMDb and Metacritic.
I love the fact I knew they were brothers the moment the client described his target as a "freak" and you saw the hitman's reaction.
glad the movie is good. trailers had me hoping it would be
Mike K It is pretty good. Not one of the best of the year, but still a solid and enjoyable film overall.
It's an aggregate site that collect reviews from many critics and determines it's fresh/rotten score depending on whether critics gave the film a 3/5 or over (fresh) or anything below 3/5 (rotten).
bardiamoose I know how rotten tomatoes works. In order for symmetry i said grade instead of score
It never used to always be that way on this channel. On his older reviews his opinion was as close to what rotten tomatoes said about the film but I guess as he got older he got more opinionated I don't know but I always trust his reviews.
Sometimes you gotta think for yourself. Reviews are like guidelines which can be helpful but its all down to your own personal preference.
Tyrant Ted that's true
Me and my brother just watched the Accountant last night. That movie was awesome, my only regret was that I wished I had seen that movie in the movies instead of the crap that was Jack Reacher 2. That final scene at the end also floored me as well, it was a nice touch for a call back to a certain character at the beginning. I'm hoping for a sequel were they can finally focus on the present since all the backstory was revealed during the first. I always enjoy your smart reviews!!!! Keep it up guy!!!!!!
VileMK69 Z I seen it 2 days ago I really liked it
Can you review King Kong (2005)
I'm sure he will leading into Kong Skull Island... :)
kyle langford YEs
kyle langford your name is so close to my brothers
underrated movie
What were critics thinking when they gave this movie such terrible reviews, this movie was fantastic. I'm glad we have people like Chris that review movies in an actual competent manner with good points and discussion that backs up all these points they're making instead of just nonsensically trashing good filmmaking
I love the new Ben Affleck he is one of my favorite actor and director right now
I've been looking forward to this movie for a while now. I'm glad to hear the good review, I'll definitely be watching it this week.
The fact that Rotten Tomato reviewers, actually fucking reviewed the film by comparing it to BvS is fucking insane.
Chris thank you for your services on kids with special needs, every little thing helps. I know my child gets worried and uncomfortable whe "his" lol! bus driver is not driving. kids get attached even when you think there are not they care
Can you make a Best Movies of all time Video?
Quite an intelligent review. Chris capatured a very complex overview of a multi layered an rarely properly interpreted film. Big thumbs up! Well done.
Very well said......YOU Sir have a new subscriber!
As someone who has ASD, and is related to a few others with ASD I can say this is really accurate, and it did my heart good to see it shown in such an accurate and positive way.
Really interested in seeing this, it looks like a great flick
This is one my favourite films and I love the story of the two brothers and the way they link up in the movie.
Looks like rotten tomatoes thought its a DC movie.
Attention is what we lack these days... I am glad that this film exist... thank you for your review :)
I almost got a seizure during the flickering lights scene.
Saw this in the theater - GOOD, HONEST, and pretty ACCURATE review...
Well done, Sir...
"The Accountant", worse movie title ever for an action movie.
tell that to his face, he will leave you with only a pinkie left
I think that's the point.
Ha! it does
It's so simple, its badass.
Honestly, I'd say it's the second worst. The worst also stars Ben Affleck. 2003's "Paycheck" is, IMO, an even worse title for an action movie!
I'm just returning to this review to thank you Chris. If I had listened to general critics I'd not have seen the best movie I've seen since I saw The Nice Guys in the cinema.
Ironically, this movie got even worse reviews than BvS for being "Unconventional".
"This boy grows into Ben Affleck"
Finally watched this movie on the basis of your recommendation and my gosh it blew me away - it tells a story and tells it well
While I was watching this, my cat started licking my phone and he stopped my video.
k
This story should be published as a novel.
So happy to see your new video, Chris!
Legend says, if you comment on one of his videos, chris stuckmann will... never reply.
This is a really good film. I just happened to catch it on cable. I like Ben, so that's why I watched it. This film should be WAY more popular.
Hey Chris are you going to do "Middle School the worst years of my life"?
Green Semicircle I heard it broke box office records over the weekend, blowing away TFA paltry 250 with an 800 million opening, who would've known
Julian Webb lol ive never even heard of it
Green Semicircle I saw it. I mean it has a couple of good jokes and a kinda interesting but mostly stupid plot twist at the end but it was pretty bad. The comic book parts were annoying and didn't fit in. D+ at best
ok
Been looking forward to watching this since the trailer.
I'm a lazy bastard, someone just tell me his overall review.
Good movie. Director took time to flesh out the story and characters. Not necessarily an action film by today's standards. A-
Joe Williams Thx, so I guess rotten tomatoes just have something for ben affleck lmao
What was the scene that floored you guys??
