Right man? I am so fucking done with critics. Mad Max? Shit, it's perfect far as critics are concerned (love the movie by the way, but it is not the perfect movie that they made it out to be). But something like say The Accountant, a solid 8/10, gets the rotten tomatoes treatment.
Rotten Tomatoes is useless as hell honestly. If I'm excited for a movie, I will watch the movie and have my own opinion. Because 100 to 300 critics in total did or did not like the movie means nothing. Just because you're a critic doesn't mean that you're good. We live in a world where more critics liked Ghostbusters (2016) than The Accountant so who fucking cares at this point.
Bruce Wayne pretty sure that The Road Warrior (Mad Max 2) has 100% on rotten tomatoes meaning every critic accounted for (no pun intended) at least "liked the movie". So I think you should go by the "average rating" section below the aggregated score that The Accountant has on RT. However, even that won't decide whether you'll enjoy the movie itself. Your own opinion will (duh)
Dwayne Wade #GOAT #FatherPrime #Flash I think either Live by Night or The Batman will be Ben Affleck's masterpiece, he's undoubtably one of the best directors working today and I can not wait to see what he does next.
One sweet bit: the sound design in the gunfights. Actually having sniper bullets impact and then a thunderous sonic boom following behind makes for a unique experience I want to see more of.

As a person with Autism it's cool seeing more characters like this in film. But the only bad thing that I see results from this is so many "normal" people begin to think ALL autistic people are like Benedict Cumberbatch's Sherlock or in this case The Accountant. That we're all savants, we're all good with numbers, when autism in actuality is different for each and every individual. Granted some performances do feel like they are like me, in habits and reaction, but then I notice that Hollywood mostly sticks to the trend of portraying all Autistics as unfeeling savants.
The Flying Lion well in their defense portraying a autistic person who has virtually no concept of reality or even just a regular guy with autism wouldn't be nearly as exciting.
Coolman Hahn Yeah but then I get so many people that meet me who wonder "why aren't you as good with numbers as sherlock" and I have to explain how being Autistic doesn't make me Einstein. But not being considered a social idiot is a nice side affect too.
This stems from the mainstream thinking that autist children are special in a good way. People often glorify autism or Aspergers and go as far as flaunting self-diagnosed conditions like some badges of honor, or worse - use them to justify their social shortcomings. So Hollywood gives them what they want.
minciNashu It'd be nice if film just portrayed autism as autism. Not like every autistic person is a super genius, they do exist but suddenly every autistic person get's that badge slapped on them when it's not us.
This is one of my favorite films of the year. I usually completely agree with you, but not on this one. I felt like it was a great ride that felt shorter than it was. I also felt like JK Simmons' story about the accountant was well warranted, and it really helped to show things from his point of view, and also how he is actually connected to the story.
I loved JK Simmons in this, I just wish we had more of him and less of the girl that he had tag along, we had a lot of moments of her alone or with some other person and rather that stuff was JK Simmon's scenes.
Chris Stuckmann gave this movie an A- and Jeremy gave it a "no alcohol needed", Rotten Tomatoes has a score of 52% and IMDB score is 7.9!! Wow talk about mixed opinions!!
Maybe I don't notice exposition much? I didn't mind Simmon's character explaining what went on with Christian Wolf. He did have that girl investigate "The Accountant" as a test of her determination and ability but nothing more so he had to let her in on what went on.
I thoroughly enjoyed The Accountant, as well. Ben Affleck did a great job playing this character. He was compelling and it was interesting learning about his past and just watching him try to interact/socialize with other people and observing his routines. I didn't really think it was too slow, but I did think the ending was a bit weird and anti-climactic. Also, I don't know if it was just me, but I figured out the twist about halfway thru the movie. Overall, though, yes... very enjoyable movie.
The movie was about THE Accountant. It was about the character. It is about getting to know this person from several angles. It is much more than just a huge dude killing everybody with unlimited bullets. Probably too deep for most critics.
Brandon Layne he's wearing his Star Wars shirt, the same one he used for the Rogue One trailer 3 review. I'm pretty sure he just did both videos in one day that's all
The Accountant is easily one of my top 10 favorite movies ever it's one of the most positive and realistic portrayals of autism (sensory issues and the results of hyperfocus) as a person on the spectrum definitely identify with some of the day to day things Affleck's character has to deal with
Somebody's upset cause I don't like their favorite movie. like I have an **gasp**, opinion. Also, don't be like that. Just because I like anime doesn't mean I'm a weeb. You're just acting like a jerk.
+The Trash Man What I'm saying is, don't get so easily offended on a person's opinion. Also, I don't _hate_ Batman V. Superman, I just had so many gripes with it, and I was just trying to make a joke. Oh, and between you and me, I'd much rather watch BvS over Ghostbusters 2016 and Nine Lives. So, yeah.
I've heard a lot of people who have been reviewing The Accountant make the complaint that at times it feels slightly disjointed. What none of them have yet to pick up on is that disjointedness is how our (people witb Autism) brains work. I didn't feel any of that disjointedness because, having Asperger's myself, my thought processes have that same slight disjointedness. This movie did that on purpous :D

His father was on the military, and after much bullying suffered, he took his son for training, and he learned it super fast, like some autistic kids often do. There is an autistic kid in my neighbor, he's 14 and he's really good at playing music instruments, i think he plays like almost 10 different ones..
Affleck was in some pretty bad movies in the early 2000's. He is a good actor, just made some poor movie choices back then. Dogma is one of my favorite movies he's in.
Ehh, when you're a struggling, up and coming actor you kind of have to take what you can get. Much like how you most likely won't get the job of your dreams right out of college. Gotta bust a few tables before you can buy the restaurant.
WalkUpSlowlyDownSmash He was in better movies in the 90's than he was in the early 2000's. He was already a pretty established actor by the time Daredevil came out.
Oh definitely. When I saw the movie "The Change-Up" with Reynolds and Jason Bateman, it really popped into my mind that these two guys are really good actors.
Fuck that shit. I'm only trusting a few people now. Jeremy and Chris Stuckmann especially. A bunch of good or bad critics on Rotten Tomatoes means nothing to me.
I'd genuinely like to see a movie about an autistic person who isn't especially good at numbers, or anything in particular. Yes, there are autistic people like that, but it's getting to be a condescending cliche, like how in old films how all black people had "rhythm" and were good dancers.
I'm not sure how you're defining savant, but the classic definition is someone who is otherwise severely mentally disabled: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2677584/ And not pretty, professional Ben Affleck. Ah, well. More Hollywood B.S. -- big surprise.
For those who are wondering what autism even is, I'll try to explain it a bit. But it's pretty damn complicated to explain. Especially since I was diagnosed with it at the age of 3 since I was unable to talk, didn't look at anyone, would push away when my parents tried to hug me, etc. Classic symptoms. I became "high functioning" rapidly and was reading and talking fluently at age 4. But anyway, in short, it's a mixture of the following symptoms: - Difficulty learning social skills and social rules. (Females with the condition are more likely than males to learn elaborate mimicry, but that's essentially copying social behaviors without actually understanding them) This is why so many autistics are annoying to others. They genuinely don't know how not to be... but they can learn over time, slowly, what they did wrong. Eventually, they can learn, piece by piece, the social rules for specific situations - but then fail socially at a totally different social situation. - Abnormally sensitive senses (sense of taste, touch, sight - e.g. sensitivity to light - etc.). This tends to result in things like picky food tastes (abnormally sensitive sense of taste does that to you), being easily distracted by noise (sense of hearing too sensitive), etc. In EXTREME cases, it can result in an autistic whose senses are so intense that they're in agony all the time - such individuals are often "low functioning". - Limited interests and intense obsessions with whatever it is they get interested in. However, not all autistics have this. It is part of why autistics have a reputation for being hardcore nerds; not all autistics are nerds, and not all hardcore nerds are autistic, though. - Lopsided intelligence/abilities. In other words, better than most people at some things, worse than most people at other things. It often results in a person who's assumed to be stupid because they fail at basic tasks like tying shoes, or is assumed to be skilled at life because they're very academically gifted. The skills are uneven, and even many intelligent autistics with high IQs oftentimes can't get or keep jobs, and may be unable to care for themselves in some extreme cases. There's more, plenty more, but these are the most important symptoms. What makes an autistic "low functioning"? Having these symptoms to an extreme degree. Like "repeat TV jingles you memorized while ignoring people all day long, and only eat two particular foods", as just one example. When someone is "high functioning", they have these symptoms to a lower degree. Instead of having your house carpet feel like sandpaper, you might instead hate wearing undershirts like I do. Instead of being completely unable to learn social rules at all, you might learn them but at a slower rate than most people... like me. I hope this helps explain it.
This video is 7 years old at the time of writing. I always check out Jeremy’s reviews but I just saw this movie for the first time yesterday. crazy to see the consistency in his videos and crazy to see how young he looks! (not that he looks old now)
lxchness I feel the same way. However, the movie handled it really well. There's a point where you think she's going to be in it for too long and then she just wasn't.
Her face. Her voice. That super low forehead. Just the way she acts. Annoying. But lxchness, you should watch this movie. Anna Kendrick doesn't appear in this movie for very long.
I love that little wave he gave to that old couple on that farm after doing his business with those rude gentlemen on the farm. For those of you who've seen the movie, you should know what I'm talking about.
Cedric Koh In my opinion, the movie was fun to watch, except the elongated plot and slow pace. Other than that, the acting, writing, main plot, etc. were good. It was just that I thought the plot was kinda hard to follow.
Cedric Koh Actually, critics do rate movies on how much fun they had in a bunch of movies. If not, they wouldn't be giving movies like The Avengers and Deadpool high scores because let's be real, the main reason we all liked Deadpool because of how fun it was, not because of the story.
Another important thing in my opinion is their take on autism. My little brother is autistic so to see a movie that illustrates some characteristics of having a family member on the spectrum was amazing.
The gunplay , wording and usage was top notch in attention to detail in tactics and sound This is a very overlooked part of choreography as the use of weapons properly is very immersing , where if an actor is fighting or using a weapon obviously wrong or the FX are way off it totally breaks the immersion for a movie goer with experience in those fields I applaud Ben Affleck in his weapons usage and fighting choreography as well as the team behind the details of the movie , very pleasing to watch
Finally just got to watch this and I actually found myself quite enjoying it. I think my only negative is that there are a few subplots that really don't go anywhere. It also is a bit slow which I didn't mind but I wish there was atleast one more action scene
I have Autism aka Aspergeres Syndrome and I like be this movie. It makes me feel like I am a normal human being and I have no issues and I used to think I'm not normal like everyone else but I am. I just have more struggles than regular people.
The dude wrote Good Will Hunting and got kicked out of a casino for counting cards. He seems to hate interviews and interacting with people. Something tells me that this role was not a huge leap for him.
I was kinda scared when I looked into the comments, I was expecting a lot of insensitive Autism jokes, but there really isn't any (and the ones that are here aren't arrogant or hateful). Cool. Go people.
This movie made me love Ben Affleck as an actor even more because he played in autistic character so well and so accurately and plus the fact that he’s a bad ass makes it more better. I’m autistic and high functioning and he just did it perfectly this is one of Ben best movies in my opinion.
The Accountant, In my opinion anyways: It was just a series of events through the lens of the main character. I didn't feel there needed to be a huge plot for the movie for us to get to a climax, in fact you can tell the movie kind of ends on an anti-climax. But I think the movie was purely about the complexities of this one particular character and all the possible things that could take place in his realm. And its actually fucking believable.....Absolutely brilliant. Watch it
I didn't choose this movie because of the poster had him holding a rifle. Good thing I watched it anyways over Train Girl. Usually this type of character he plays as are portrayed as villains. Surprising.
Okay, am I the only one who kind of wants to see a crossover where Chris Wolff meets John Wick? Like, he does John's financial shit or whatever, and they help each other out during an epic final showdown where they take out an army of mobster goons.
it was minimally used and did not find that to be a problem the movie I think is great I think a lot of people think that it's slow because everyone want fast paced action so much of the time. I found that there were no pacing problems and the supposed subplots just pieces of the overall plot that needed no more time than they got. they could of had more attention but it was not necessary
Saw this movie last night here in Hyderabad, India. Loved it! I completely agree with you on the pacing and having too many sub-plots! Fortunately, the movie was entertaining!
They certainly trying to follow too many characters/subplot that even though its clock in at 2 hours still feel under-cooked some parts it. Overall, I enjoy it. Keep up the good work, Ben.
"Autistic Badass Accountant who kills people"
This is probably the most original movie of the year.
Amen.

Cynical Movement the only critics I trust are Redlettermedia
So, we get The Accountant v John Wick now, right??
Don't forget Jack Reacher 2.
the first Jack reacher is ass
The Accountant tracks John Wick because of all those unreported Gold Coins on his tax return. Wick fights tooth and nail to avoid an audit.
Richard Duryea lol nice
That would be crazy because both the accountant and John Wick basically never miss their shots
Ben Affleck's best performance so far. Can't wait for Live by Night and the Batman.

Same, I found the ending oddly satisfying.

Brandon Paramore I haven't seen it, but it has the same director.

The pacing did bother me. I still enjoyed it very much tho
The movie was very good but the pacing wasnt. Thats not an opinion its a fact. The pacing was too quick at times

I'd genuinely like to see a movie about an autistic person who isn't especially good at numbers, or anything in particular. Yes, there are autistic people like that, but it's getting to be a condescending cliche, like how in old films how all black people had "rhythm" and were good dancers.
There is an autistic kid in my neighbor, he's 14 and he's really good at playing music instruments.
Flora Posteschild watch radio.
Sounds about as entertaining as this film. But cheaper.
I'm not sure how you're defining savant, but the classic definition is someone who is otherwise severely mentally disabled: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2677584/
And not pretty, professional Ben Affleck. Ah, well. More Hollywood B.S. -- big surprise.
As someone WITH autism. I really enjoy that this film shows that even a person with autism can still be a badass and kill people....oh wait 😬
WHERE'S THE STRANGER THINGS REVIEW JEREMY!???
Nawaf_BITW
Lol I've lost all hope for him reviewing it
Nawaf_BITW Fuck off with that shit
Nawaf_BITW right!!!! I love stranger things
Aseril calm down dude.
Nawaf_BITW You're the kid that is posting this shit in CAPS as if you're entitled to it...
But anyway, in short, it's a mixture of the following symptoms:
- Difficulty learning social skills and social rules.
Lootcrate has finally taken Jeremy... the last decent youtuber has fallen!
WyrusETS
This isn't his first Lootcrate promo, he's done it before.
Ok... let me explain. This is a running joke, that lootcrate is "corrupting" and making every single RUclipsr "sellout".
This video is 7 years old at the time of writing. I always check out Jeremy’s reviews but I just saw this movie for the first time yesterday. crazy to see the consistency in his videos and crazy to see how young he looks! (not that he looks old now)
unfortunately I stay away from anything with anna kendrick. there's something so inherently annoying about her.
lxchness agreed
lxchness I feel the same way. However, the movie handled it really well. There's a point where you think she's going to be in it for too long and then she just wasn't.
Don't really understand that, to be honest. She's absolutely lovely to me.
Her face. Her voice. That super low forehead. Just the way she acts. Annoying. But lxchness, you should watch this movie. Anna Kendrick doesn't appear in this movie for very long.
lxchness She's not a big part of the movie. She just pops in a few times.
I love that little wave he gave to that old couple on that farm after doing his business with those rude gentlemen on the farm. For those of you who've seen the movie, you should know what I'm talking about.
I just watched the accountant and it was phenomenal ❤🔥 I like the film 😄
jeremy has one of the best outro in youtube.
This movie was good. Don't why Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 53%. I'd give it a 86%. But, hey, it's just an opinion.
Dishoungh White Critics don't rate movies on how much fun they had but on the cinematography and acting and so on
Cedric Koh In my opinion, the movie was fun to watch, except the elongated plot and slow pace.
I totally agree with u
I liked The Accountant and agree with your review. I would love a sequel.
So the love child of Jason Bourne and Will Hunting?
Yes and it's glorious.
but they're the same person
I love the fact that you wore a blazer over your star wars tshirt to make it seem more professional
Just watched it today and I liked it. I hope they make a second one.
They could totally make a franchise out of this. I hope they do that with John Wick too.
Nathan Winters The equalizer would be a good one also..
Really liked the movie, the first and third act were flawless, the second one dragged on as Jeremy said, still 4.5/5 AWESOME FILM!
This was an awesome movie!
the twist at the end was really shocking and i enjoyed it thoroughly, i wasnt able to predict it until like 5 mins before it reveals itself
The Accountant = shittiest movie title ever.
ThumbdownMan no
Disagree
That or Baby Geniuses
bro you habe a emoji from 2009 for your Logo Wtf also Filty Frank- "Go fuck your self"
Shit man you got fired up real bad
This is the only movie reviewer I'll trust. He's a normal dude not a snob that likes "art pieces". Kudos dude.
thanks for the review, jeremy!!
Another important thing in my opinion is their take on autism. My little brother is autistic so to see a movie that illustrates some characteristics of having a family member on the spectrum was amazing.
Will he ever notice me? :(
I just kept thinking, "Oh my GEEZUS that's Commisioner Gordon, Punisher and Batman all up in each other's business!!"
STRANGER THINGS SHAUN Of The Sheep HELL OR HIGH WATER
gale son lol Shaun of the sheep
gale son Fr Hell or High Water was great
I did Hell or High Water for you.
Saw it tonight. The wife & I both really liked it. I'd give it "Buy on Blu-Ray" rating.
Dab
The gunplay , wording and usage was top notch in attention to detail in tactics and sound
This is a very overlooked part of choreography as the use of weapons properly is very immersing , where if an actor is fighting or using a weapon obviously wrong or the FX are way off it totally breaks the immersion for a movie goer with experience in those fields
I applaud Ben Affleck in his weapons usage and fighting choreography as well as the team behind the details of the movie , very pleasing to watch
Affleck would be a great terminator
for me i enjoyed it, watched it over and over again and learned a few things.. its great
Do Shin Godzilla
The twist at the end of the movie where it tells you who is actually who is fucking insane. Love it
it was a good movie!
great review dude. Def want to see this. doesn't come out till November in Australia.
this should have gotten Awesometacular.....
Finally just got to watch this and I actually found myself quite enjoying it. I think my only negative is that there are a few subplots that really don't go anywhere. It also is a bit slow which I didn't mind but I wish there was atleast one more action scene
no way
I have Autism aka Aspergeres Syndrome and I like be this movie. It makes me feel like I am a normal human being and I have no issues and I used to think I'm not normal like everyone else but I am. I just have more struggles than regular people.
I loved this movie :D
Movie was great, slow moments are interesting enough to hold it together. Well worth the cinema ticket
Have you ever been trolled?

I now want a crossover between the Accountant and John Wick

Does Hillary even have real supporters?
My turn

The dude wrote Good Will Hunting and got kicked out of a casino for counting cards. He seems to hate interviews and interacting with people. Something tells me that this role was not a huge leap for him.
You're kinda slacking off, Jeremy. Lots of shows you've failed to review.
I see Loot crate finally got their hands on Jermey
I was kinda scared when I looked into the comments, I was expecting a lot of insensitive Autism jokes, but there really isn't any (and the ones that are here aren't arrogant or hateful). Cool. Go people.
Batman and commissioner Gordon and the punisher.
Also the punisher has been with both daredevils.
This was an amazing movie definitely worthy of a Blu Ray rating
This movie made me love Ben Affleck as an actor even more because he played in autistic character so well and so accurately and plus the fact that he’s a bad ass makes it more better. I’m autistic and high functioning and he just did it perfectly this is one of Ben best movies in my opinion.
Not sure if it was intentional or not, but there's a shot of Affleck sizing up a bad guy in a fight that is the same angle as BvS, it was pretty cool
Great movie! Good review.... loved the ending! Wasn't shocked who it was though...
I LOVE this movie. It never got slow at all imo. So good 🥰
I'm mildly autistic so I loved this movie awesome review.
They certainly trying to follow too many characters/subplot that even though its clock in at 2 hours still feel under-cooked some parts it. Overall, I enjoy it. Keep up the good work, Ben.
