Effectrode's Phil Taylor has done it again. This is one snazzy sounding compressor, definitely up there with the greatest. Users include Adrian Legg, Steve Rothery and David Gilmour. Visit the Effectrode site to learn much more about the PC-2A's superb technical features.
"The new gold standard in natural, musical and quiet compression -- this little compressor will inspire you to play and create music. The PC-2A is a true vintage studio compressor in a stompbox -- there are no VCA chips, opamps or budget components in the signal path which is 100% analog and built on a hand selected photo-cell, polyester coupling capacitors, precision resistors (with silver/palladium contacts) and NOS (new old stock) tube operating at real amp plate voltages all on a special gold-plated printed circuit board."

This video convinced me to buy it. It's by a thousand miles the best compressor I have ever heard, can't put my guitar down.
Makes you rethink why the LA-2A is so expensive. This is such a sweet pedal. Planning on using this as a vocal insert.
you make me rethink pedals all the time. i love learning the functions
This is the best compressor I've ever used. I want to get the leveling amplifier now.
Did you get the Leveling Amplifier? How does it compare to the PC-2A?
Very Nice. One of the most Musical Sounding and Transparent Compressor pedals - I have ever heard. Fantastic Pedal.
Nice sounds! That amps clean really is amazing!
Seems it has a gorgeous sustain.
I like a one pump kicking in prior to the sustain cycle, meself. I bet I could make one of these do it. I had a Ross, never used it until I knew what I was doing. I think I could make this do the Ross two step, lol! Thanks again!
Sweetheart of the Rodeo!!!
You had me at LA2A
This dip in sound volume when you engage the pedal is it normal?
Brett, I play primarily acoustic finger style but also play electric as well. From an acoustic standpoint, would you recommend the PC-2A over say a Cali76 Stacked Edition, a Bogner Lyndhurst or a Keeley Compressor Pro? All quite good in their own right, just haven't been able to try any of them out in person so I'm wondering what others like yourself might think? Thanks.
Wow..really nice.
What I dislike about compressors like this is the "pta pta" sound or tearing sound for want of a better description of the pick attack when it is engaged. I guess compressors just aren't for me though I do have an EHX Black Finger which is very transparent but rarely use it other than at the end of the pedal chain to reduce unpleasant peaks from other pedals.
Any chance you would compare this to the Walrus Deep Six Compressor? Do some side by sides? This sounds nice, wondering if all the extra knobs and features in the Deep Six are what I want. Love to see a vid if you have time.
Yeah, screw you Brett! j/k, very nice! wow, that tele and PC-2A combination sounds sweet! Nothing like making it jump out with clarity!! Wow! Great review!
I don't like the fading in and out when switching the pedal. Other than that it sounds good to me!
Curious to hear this on vocals
It would be great to A B a Xotic SP compressor to this effectrode.
Any verdict between this and the okko coco?
Go, Bur's just leave it on.
Would you put it up against "The Bulb"?
the best comp pedal so far,it really sounds like the la 2a,im definitely getting this
I would never turn that pedal off.
