Thanks for posting this video! I don't think I could have pulled this off without it. I didn't do the motor repair, but rather replaced the entire assembly for my 2007 Sonata (about $75 on Amazon). A couple tips for those looking to do this -- for holding up the window, I used a large C-clamp (with plastic feet) that extended over the top of the window frame. You may also want to consider replacing your inside door handles while doing this -- in both cases (for driver and LR door) the handle frames had cracked. They ranged between $8-$25 on Amazon.
This was a great help, Thanks for walking me through it and the window in the back doors is a pain to get free. But I did not remove the rubber on the wire cables, you can just pull the rubber boot out with the cables and keep them together.
Great video!Wanted you to know that you don’t have to remove the foam from the lock and open control wires or pull them thru the grommet. Just squeeze the large end of the grommets out of the panel and remove as an assembly
well if nothing else, this vdieo showed me i never wanna purchase a hyundai.. my mom just got an 06 sonata and her locks seem to work sometimes.. all 4 of them. i thought it weird that all 4 actuators would be bad, but i guess it's possible. when they don't work, you hear the relay clicking and can tell the actuator is trying to unlock/lock them. let sit for a bit and hit the button again and they'll work sometimes. i wanna say they either all 4 work or all 4 don't work. never a random mix. this also makes me thing not actuator.. unless possibly a relay, but they usually just fail all together. i'll most likely replace the fronts and rebuild the backs. those motors are like $12 on amazon for 2 right now.. can't beat it. vs $50 a piece for oem replacement actuators.
I replaced the passanger door actuator assembly with one I purchased from Amazon for my 2010 Sonata. This is a complicated fiddly job. The factory manual is of little use. I also purchased just the motors. I will play with the old actuator but am glad I bought the new assembly. Whien I tried to disassemble the old unit the 12 year old plastic cracked in several places. To do this job, set asside a day without destractions or time constraints.
Since you are destroying the motor you can be pretty liberal with the heat. I would hold it under a small flame for maybe 20 seconds try pulling, if it doesn't come off repeat until it does
Thanks for the great video! You have demonstrated it perfectly in very detail. I have this issue on the front left door of my car, Sonata NF 2006 and the lock button's on the interior door handle is stuck and the door can't get opened. I don't have intention to replace the lock actuator and am just happy to lock and unlock it manually, How can I just release the lock button to work manually?
Motors with the worm gear are $15 on eBay, one less thing to screw up. Or a whole brand new actuator for $36. I just bought the actuator, but I was prepared to replace just the motor.
I'm running into the same problem with my 2010. The passanger door lock tries to move but insufficient power to move the lock mechanism. It's probably not the motor torque but the worm gear lubricant drying up. When I get time I will pull it apart and lubricate the worm gear with a light silicone lubricant. Thanks for the informative video.
@@jeffallen-fd7kk I was at a bussy time in my life so purchased a replacement assembly from amazon. It's a fiddly job to exchange the assembly so didn't want to do it more than once. Now a year later and the after market unit is still working fine.
Thanks for posting the video, I have stuck at the same location where we need to pull the glass up. My window glass is still attached to the plastic. Unable to pull the glass up without the plastic holder to go up. Any suggestions or trick that we need to do?
Wind it up enough so you can get your entire handprint on the glass then straddle the door while it's open and sandwich the glass between your hands. Then just pull as hard as you can up and wiggle at the same time
I am not quite sure what you mean, if it is stuck in the locked position you can still unlock it manually by pushing the lock button on the interior door handle.
Most likely the master lock switch on either the driver or passenger door is wonky. Try unplugging the switches on both sides and if it stops happening then you know it's the switch.
@@HoweyJR_ master window switch and passenger window switch. I would unplug them first and make sure that's the issue before dropping money on the switches.
@@HoweyJR_ Switch goes to car's computer, when the switch is pressed, it tells the computer to send a signal to actuate the lock. If it is locking and unlocking it's not a problem with the door lock actuator it's a problem with the switch.

Dude thanks so much. I just fixed mine with your vid as a guide!

Great job ❤
Thanks for the video. I purchased an actuator for around 50 bucks. Seems to work well except for it doesn’t align with my door striker latch.

Yes tbh if you have the money just get the entire actuator. Anything in a modern car door is a huge pain.
That was alot of man! Thank you so much! It helped me alot.
Keep it up!
Super helpful . Thank you
Very handy. I have front right and rear left to do.
Thanks for you from Iraq
You’re my man bro!.. btw I have a question.. for how long did you heat it up in order to get the grip off? Thanks in advance!

They were much more expensive when I was looking a few years ago for $36 for sure just replace the actuator
Good gob

my door wont open either side how tf do i get it open so i can take the panel off
Thanks for the video. Do you think is it same for 2013?
Hard to say that was after the redesign. It's probably a similar process but will look different
