So many of you have told me that the Camille Rose Naturals Curl Maker is your favorite gel. So of course I had to pick it up (on sale of course) and try it out for a wash n go. Also I have to mention that this wash n go combo is GLYCERIN FREE so perfect for those of you who despise glycerin. If you want to know my thoughts on the Curl Maker, then check this video out!

To each his own. Different things work for different people. I love this gel. I noticed however that I get a different look depending on what I put under it. The Almond Jai twisting butter under curl maker gives a more weighed down look. I like the moist feel because my hair tends to dry out with other gels. My hair is always moisturized with this gel. I love the definition I get with Wetline gel but it dries out my hair badly.
Hey love! For some reason this gel makes my hair too moisturized but that could be due to the amount that I used. I just need something to balance my out for me lol. Thanks for watching 💕
I didn’t like this gel whatsoever. It’s up there with UFD for me.

I DIDN'T KNOW THEY HAD A TEN DOLLAR SALE OMG and I have used this on and off for years and never even realized it was glycerin free! This, KCCC and Uncle Funky's Daughter Curly Magic are my top 3 gels, I've got to put this one back into rotation. I know what you mean about the gumminess and that DEFINITELY can happen, so you kind of have to find the right balance when adding this gel to your hair and not add TOO much. PLEASE let us know how this pairs with other gels- I've never thought to try that before!

Yes khristian! Get on that mailing list lol. And to get the curl maker you have to be online right when the sale starts. Things sell out fast! But yes I think I used to much but I will play around with and see if I like it. 😊
Your hair looks nice but if I have to layer a gel with a gel, I’d just use the one that works by itself. Too much to try to make it work.

I do wash n gos in the shower no leave in and I emulsify the the gel in my hands first helps with smoothing without using a lot of product. That has helped me a lot. I once hated wash n gos. I’m hooked now.

I love curl maker... One of my favorite product to use for wash & go and you can use extreme gel with it works well... The gummy or stickiness is from using too much.. I still love your results thanks for the video.

Dose the curl maker jelly cause flaking in your hair? I used it for the first time with the curl love moisturizer milk and it’s flake city! However, I also topped my hair off with the mousse def texture foam. I’m so frustrated because I literally need to release my hair now. 😭
@@Barnes247 Never have any flaking issues with Camille Rose products.. Maybe the moose product didn't mix well with it. Rub some of the mousse and the Camille Rose products in your hand and see how they mix together, sometimes It will lump up or start looking thick if they don't mix well. Wetline gel works good with Camille Rose and Uncle funky's products.. Hope you give it another try ☺️🙏
I love big fluffy hair so my favorite combo is the curl love moisture milk + shea moisture (even though they're canceled) curl enhancing smoothie + the curl maker! *chef's kiss* The first time I tried the curl maker, I only used the curl love moisture milk and I had flakes for days!! Looked like a snowstorm whenever my hair moved and hated curl maker. I tried it the second time with the cream and now I love the curl maker!I have 3c/4a, normal porosity, medium strands, and very thick hair.
Hey Gabby! That combo sounds like my hair would never dry 😂. I think I’m too have handed for that. But wow you had flakes? Crazy how products work differently for us lol.

I absolutely LOVE this combo I'm posting a video on it today. You HAVE to use alot of water with the gel in order to not get the sticky residue!!
mlgbunnyx I agree. I apply this in the shower on SOAKING wet hair. Not as gummy and I don’t have to use as much. Just like UFD, you have to figure out how much you need to use to get the desired effect

It’s beautiful! I use uncle funkys topped with wet line. I tried the curl maker once and I got so many flakes I took it straight back! You make me want to try it again with the wet line.

Your hair definitely looks good to me. I really like the defined curls look but I understand that your preferred look is different. I'm still sticking with the UFD curly magic though because that curl maker pricey.
Edit: About the reactivating when wet thing, that's what happens with those types of stylers. Kinky Curly, Uncle Funky's Daughter, etc.. I like it though because it's easy to refresh in between washes.
Thank love 😊. I didn’t have that issue with Kinky curly. I think it’s great when I’m actually refreshing my hair but when I’m working out I don’t like that my hair feels wet and gummy lol.
I like your results girly! I have the curl maker myself. I haven’t tried to use it by itself because the texture kinda reminded me of a custard so I used it and followed up with my gel (Wetline Xtreme) And I agree, I like my wash n gos weighed down as well.

Whew Chile I HAAAAATE this gel. It’s crazy because I love everything else Camille rose and my hair thrives with her products.
EXCEPT the curl maker. The first day is bomb, second day my hair is super DRY and it’s just not it sis😩

NJ Eberhart I actually just did my hair and it's now air drying. I did use the wetline and so far it looks really good. 🙌🏾
NJ Eberhart UPDATE....flakes and frizz for days!!! This was the first time trying a jelly like styler vs a cream for a wash n go. I always use a cream styler with wetline and my hair turns out great. I'm looking for my receipt to return the Camille Rose because I don't think this is for low porosity hair.

Your hair looks really good! I like it. I’m currently experimenting with this product right now. I’ve had it for a while and used it wrong last time and didn’t like it. But this time I actually was in the shower and took one section of hair down and soaked one side of my hair with water and slathered the garnier curl treat jelly on the section and rubbed into my hair and squished the product into the roots. I separated the section to ensure the product was in each section and ducking my head under the stream to add more water a feeling for the slip. Once I had enough water in the section I would add more jelly so I could feel the definition. Once out the shower I grabbed the Camille rose curl maker. I tested the two products in my hand and they mixed well. So I took my section that I had clipped away soaked with water and garnier jelly and held my ends of hair under the running faucet and again squished my ends up to my roots to ensure the wetness. And added five pumps of the curl maker to the section. Then I worked it throughout each section, adding more water because water adds weight and length to the hair. Girl these coils are popping. I’m a type 4, low porosity kinky coily, high density. I’m used to using wet line gel and eco and I’m used to the crunch but I wanted to try this gel again. And with the humidity and glycerin products, I usually top off my finished wash and go with a silicone based serum. Whew that was a lot! Great video! 🥰🥰

These products are definitely moisturizing. I used this combo and also added the almond jai twisting butter (for a twistout).
We all know - every product/line/brand doesn't work for every texture/curl/strand.

This is the way I feel like about a lot of gels that are healthier. The moisture is there, the slip is there, the definition is there but the hold is not. And I feel like we’re made to feel bad because we actually want our hair to hold and I feel like thats so normal LOL
Hey Laya! Yeah to me these types of gels I need to layer a stronger gel on top to get the hold I need. Love the moisture but I need something a little more string hold lol. The only clean gel with hold that I love is Jello shot from Ecoslay. Thanks for watching 💕😊

Hey Nisha! Loving your makeup and earrings. I love the results. I have besn natural for 11 years and have never tried a Camille Rose product. I don't do wash and go's so I hardly ever use gel. But I may try a wash n go since I'm not leaving the house in case it comes out looking crazy 😜

It’s so funny how products work differently on people even though the hair texture is similar (my texture is similar to yours). My hair hates Camille rose products. The hair milk dries out my hair and I get residue/flakes with the gel but you didn’t experience that. On the other hand my hair loves UFD but your hair doesn’t...🤷🏽♀️your hair looks really good though and I understand what you mean about it’s not a good wng for you.
We have the same hair! Lol...my hair hates CR curl maker, and I think it's the xanthum gum that causes the flakes. And the moisture milk doesn't moisturize my hair at all. UFD and Kinky curly for the win!
I don't like the curl love either and the curl maker. But its cause my hair doesn't like aloe. I love the coconut water line. You should try the DC, leave in and cream if you haven't. They are my favorite

Kioka Warner-Jackson I agree. Gels like this; UFD, Kinky Curly, are best used on soaking wet hair, preferably in the shower. It’s so easy to use too much when applied outside the shower, which can result in that sticky, gummy feeling. I do find that UFD and Kinky Curly are much more forgiving and easier to work with than Curl Maker.

NJ Eberhart For me, Curl Maker is the most temperamental out of these 3 gels. I got frustrated with getting inconsistent results and pretty much gave up on it.

I thought it was just me. I noticed when I used this gel my hair felt very sticky and gummy. Although this product has no glycerin it seems like this product has some hidden glycerin in it. I also noticed my hair felt really sticky after being out in the humidity and my hair almost felt wet. The curl maker is definitely overrated in my opinion.

Your hair still looks cute. I don't like Camille Rose products at all. Their moisturizers are too thick and dries out my hair. The curl maker for me flakes horribly. It has xanthum gum, and gels with that ingredient always gives me flakes. Your earrings are so cute, and the side part I love on you.

I love that curl love milk favourite leave in conditioner, I don’t love the gel though it’s too light of a hold.
I prefer a gels that clump my curls like the mane choice Egyptian gel because it has the right amount of hold and definition. The only con is the caste

Maker with another gel for hold and clumping which just doesn’t make sense based on the price. I haven’t tried the gels from her other lines so maybe they would work better.

i love it thoughhhh it looks weightless and soft! i used waaaay less that yours for my hair to stop the clumping. 1 pump for each of my six sections does the trick. here's an idea, how about using a defining cream with it?
I use camille rose aloe whipped butter gel and a dab of ouidad heat and humidity gel with this gel.... bomb results.

I've tried this recently too and I didn't like it either much too soft and poofy not enough hold for me I prefer TGIN bomb gel. It feels forever wet and the gel balls up you aren't alone I had the exact same experience. I'll use it on my daughter's hair lol!

Gosh! You have so much hair! Do you have to wash your hair again to do a new wash n go? Can you refresh it as you need to add moisture? And does glycerin make a difference?
Hey love. I usually don’t have to refresh my wash n go because my normal products that I use last a week (wash day to wash day). Glycerin can make a difference but it all depends on your hair. My hair does ok with glycerin sometimes but not all the time. You just have to experiment and see what works for you.
your makeup looks great! I always think these types of gels should be used without something under them despite what the company says. I never used camille rose but UFD is similar and every time I used something under it my hair felt dirty. Now wearing another gel or a mousse over it is nice.

I am like you. There more agave in this gel (agave is a humectants like glycerin) , I use than has a leave in tried wash n go with this gel but it does clump my hair. Your wash no go looks good but you can tell it's not going to last. Try it with the tropical moringa glaze.
The curlove with wetline is just great too. The curlove is a staple leave in.

NJ.. Believe it or not..my longest lasting wng was with curl maker. I tried it for the 1st time in May 2020 and was surprised by my results. The only thing i had to get used to was all the individual curls and no clumpage. I love clumps, but I did love my results..

I knew you wasnt going to LOVE it. Its not a strong hold and it doesn't have crunch. But it is moisturing. Im type 3 fine strands and I like it. I hate gels lol and a crunch so its cool for me. Maybe try it with another gel. I've seen ppl put wetline on top. If you use a lot in certain places it will feel gooey. If I use it twice like a refresh, my scalp itch and I look like I have lice lol. But it was still cute

I tried UFD curly magic with curl love and I was not a fan. Interesting enough my wash n go kind of came out like your results with this combo.
To me UFD and this curl maker work the same in my hair. Too moisturized and my hair feels gummy. I could be using too much.

Would you use this as a topper on a twist out? I bought this and haven't used it yet. We have the same hair type and texture so I'm sure my results would look the same. I think it's better suited for looser curl patterns.

I completely understand get it, some gels separate my curls and give me that fluffy but tight wash in go look. I definitely prefer crunch and my curls to be weigh down. I would love to see you pair it with a stronger gel, hopefully you like the outcome🤞🏽

I can say this isn’t my favorite gel I tried it last week and I ended up using wet line on top and that kinda helped but it still wasn’t my usual

Yeah I’m not a fan either. I definitely prefer kinky curly if I want a super “natural” gel. It has more hold and lasts in the summer.

Yeah you can't use too much with this gel. The result is supposed to be more of your natural curl pattern so if you love heavy gels like wetline or eco styler you're less likely to like this

This gel reactivates like kinky curly does when I work out then interesting. It helps it last longer though.

Yeah it’s not your best wash and go. It looks frizzy to me. Yeah do that gel
mix with both curl maker and uncle Funky’s daughter with the Wetline gel. Sounds good, sounds good. Curl Maker gave my curls a different look. It’s like I had a different curl pattern and my curls were more shrunken and softer. It wasn’t a favorite for me either, but I love Uncle Funky’s Daughter Curly Magic. Different strokes.

I also don't see a point in layering stylers if one works by itself.
That’s the issue. It does not work by itself in my opinion. To each their own but I will continue to layer mine lol.
