I’d love to see a proper mod based around the Hoi4 map, like adding a focus tree where the rat American communist republic gets a monarchy and claims Britain again or something
I once got a vassal that took over Norway, Iceland and parts of Denmark all on her own...Fortunately it was that gravelkind inheritance thing and damn that woman had a lot of kids. Good thing she quickly died of stress after gathering around a dozen counties before I got a revolution...and accepted the right kinds of marriages for my character's many kids.
Well I went from Count of Lüneburg in 1066, seized the Duchy of Saxony (at that point in Lower Saxony which is actually north of where modern Saxony is) by 1075 and by 1089 I was King of Norway (Pope gave me an invasion CB). A crusade for Egypt happened and I put my daughter on the throne, one of my son's daughters became duke of Kujawy, and my first character died a peaceful death in 1115, succeeded by his first son. The 2nd character crusaded for Anatolia, putting his son on the throne, one of his cousins got lucky at the age of 10 and gained the Kingdom of France. The previous characters daughter died in the dungeons of the Polish King after a revolt. My 2nd character romanced the King of Castille's Daughters, I married the Queen of Egypt, the Castilian King got excommunicated, and the daughter I romanced became queen of Castille so I murdered her and my son became king of Castille, two other sons became duke of Portucale and King of Aragon, and a daughter became Queen of Navarre. My second character died in 1151, succeeded by his son who died 17 days later, succeeded by his son who crusaded for the Maghreb and later Estonia, became Kaiser of the HRE, and died in 1191, succeeded by his son, the king of Frisia and now King of Pomerania and Norway, Duke of Saxony and Brandenburg, and count of countless counties (not really only 7). I'm currently in 1204. (PS Mongols showed up in the 1120s and split only in 1170 to the Mongol Empire, Turan, and Tibet, which Tibet was re-inherited by Turan, who's Khan later died and the Khan of the Mongol Empire inherited both, who then died and his son held on to Turan and the Mongol Empire. Tibet then proceeded to Explode.
@@rebelgaming1.5.14 Eh. Vanilla CK2 is extremely easy even as a count, but if you are _aiming_ to not blob you should at least go count, even if that too is easy. There are some mods that make the game a bit tougher, and you can set game rules, one that is almost immediatly necessary is the one that makes it so you can't have more than like 3 provinces if u have good stewardship which if u know the game you usually do but 1 if not, and the one giving less vassal limit which actually forces you to make strong vassals. This actually also benefits the AI too so that the big AI starting countries like Seljuks dont always do well every game unless player is in region and it also helps your eyes so they dont do too much bordergore as a result. For that you should also combine it with the rule that makes land go free if u dont got a limited naval or land connection. Not a problem for the player as its not really harder to need connections, and also if you arent a sick bastard u usually dont just take random land everywhere because u want ur empire to look like the HRE anyways, but it limits the AI from doing that so it makes the map something you can look at without wanting to gouge your eyes out... for the most part... Get the mod one for that and set it to the setting which is land connection or 2 sea province away from land connection so England can keep Normandy, the one they added is awful and barely works. Not limited diplomacy reach even if it makes game sort of harder because it Fs up AI crusader states because they cant reach europe diplomatically for marriages and alliances with it. Sunset Invasion on random for memes unless you are historical RPing, but not random for mongols and turkic, because unlike aztecs that usually means they dont really fire ever for some reason. So I usually just make them historical, Mongols are good for like a midpoint to look forward to anyways. Those are starts, unless I missed something, but even then you usually need some house rules. Here's some I use that make the game more fun: I usually prevent myself from being able to invite good courtiers and claimants unless I am related to them directly or by law through my wife, make it so I can only give provinces that aren't in the culture group of my culture to leaders that are of that culture, like Bulgarian leaders in Bulgaria as Byzantine Empire. I don't prioritize "content" courtiers for land, even if thats objectively something you should do because opinion boost and faction reasons. Also not to abuse plots (usually I tell myself I can't even do them at all unless I got like 15 intrigue or something). When marrying I have to marry a woman of childbearing age and cant kill or divorce her unless I feel it makes sense RP wise in rare cases, especially if I have gavelkind. This is kind of necessary even if u dont want to do any other house rule if you want any stakes at all because the obvious strategy of just divorcing/killing your wife after u get 1 son and then not remarry or just marry a barren old hag after that + seduce and make bastards that u can legitimize if ur heir dies really trivializes the entire game. It's even worse if u can take concubines, just dismiss them when u get a son and u can even give concubines TO your son and then take them when he gets a son and dismiss them. It's so stupid, u basically get primogeniture from start, even as an unreformed pagan and/or tribal while also being able to hold like infinity provinces, have bonus to vassal opinion from succession law + no succession problems with claimants. It makes gavelkind good when its supposed to be a debuff, and Paradox literally never fixed/balanced it, it's even worse in CK3 IIRC. I usually tell myself I have to give excess land, even if good, to my landless sons without gavelkind which nothing in vanilla motivates you to do aside from a minor prestige penalty. I also prioritize them with duchies and limit just making them vassals of my non-dynastic vassals too. Part of the fun is they get claims and are hard to please when u have succession and thats invalidated if they aren't your direct vassals because they can't make factions if they are under one of your dukes. I do that with kinsmen as well if I play as a muslim because if you don't at all like you naturally won't it's even more OP as muslim because you get the benefits of their buffs in succsession and being able to have 4 wives while no decadence or risk of it which is supposed to be the balancing on those things. Why? Because many events for it is based on owning land, and even if your landless relatives become decadent of whom there will be less of because not being land owners means they dont marry themselves and make more sons, you wont have any problem because if they are landless you can easily just takfir them and imprison without the risk of them revolting and if that fails they dont contribute to decadence in exile. So playing as muslim is extremely OP if you don't arbitrarely do things that is bad for you, because Paradox are just.... Urgh I also limit myself in not just marrying wives that have good genetic traits, and as certain religions or cultures I tell myself that I can't marry lowborns or too below my status (as king, either princesses of other kings or dukes daughters) because in real life that was kind of the problem with nobles, they didnt marry lowborns and their genes became habsburg. A fun game from that as Karlings for example is saying you can *ONLY* marry family members, lol. I do usually allow myself to marry my stronger vassals daughters for pacts, but if I feel its OP I usually stop doing it to some degree. However with limited demesne and my military debuffs with no mercs and retinues it's kind of necessary if u got a big empire unless u wanna fight revolts forever which is boring cus most of ur levy are vassals ones with that rule and AI mostly looks at ur personal and hired levy + other stuff like opinion if to make and fire factions or not. Dont hire more than like 2 merc bands during a war, no large ones, or at all if I am large size, don't keep merc bands up forever if I can pay for them through taxes, and don't use the retinue system at all. Most importantly: I can't swear fealty because that option is the most OP and unrealistic nonsense in the entire game. It literally invalidates any threat because you can just swear fealty to a kingdom or an empire and become their strongest vassal and then basically take their entire territory from the inside by civil wars and internal wars. Oh no scary mongols, wait a second, oh right I can just swear fealty to them until they lose their stacks then just go free when they collapse, invalidating them as a looming threat completely literally anywhere on the map. Yawn. You dont even need to switch religions anymore temporarily to your liege so AI dont constantly try to revoke ur territory, though you can just keep the message box up and not reply to it but thats an exploit they haven't fixed still, because you can do the cults now, keep ur religion, even spread it which makes it actually better because u can spread ur real religion to ur lieges strong vassals and destabilize the realm when u order the cult to embrace the religion after u have blobbed under them. AI never hunts apostates lol. I played Ck3 for like 20 hours before I got bored and realized its like a watered down CK2 without mods, so I don't remember if that game has swear fealty but I am pretty sure it does. IDK why Paradox brought this option back, or why they never nerf it, it's so overkill in how OP it is by its function anyways and makes CK the easiest paradox game. I aint saying blobbing isn't fun, or that you are bad, but pretty much everyone is "good" at this game if u dont limit yourself, skill ceiling without limits is very low. its a shame because if more people used some of the house rules I mentioned you quickly realize how wrong you have been playing the game and how fun it is to blob when u handicap urself. Its like 10 times more satisfying. Try it.
