Since you mentioned Total War. TTW:W1 and 2 have both developed into brilliant games, especially the 'mortal empires' mode. Each faction is fairly unique and could provide quite a bit of content if the need arises.
Big update on Old World Blues, added Texas, overhauled the Legion, definately worth a replay.
The My Little Pony mod has had a lot of interesting updates. And it could be a fun meme maybe
