Hey Amri, just to let you know that your videos are really great. Plus I have an HR interview coming up this week and I'm told there will be 15mins test prior to the interview. Please do you mind advising me on what to expect in the test? Thank you.
I do have a question regarding STAR method. I am looking for senior management positions. These interviews can sometimes be scheduled for as long as 90 minutes. Do you think that using this method for each "tell me about a time" question (and there are many) could make the panel feel that my responses are rather long winded? I recently stumbled across your channel and your tips are definitely helpful. No matter where you are in your career, these tips help!
Hi Kenny, absolutely agree - the star method is brilliant but I don't recommend it for every answer, cpompletely agree that it would make your answer too long in some cases. I covered this in my behavioural based interview questions and answers video where I explain why I do not sometimes use the STAR method (in case you would like some examples). - I also have answers to questions like 'Tell me about yourself' with and without the star method to show a comparison. Thank you for checking out my videos, I appreciate the support!
Thank you! Short answer is yes - in my experience of working with jobseekers. But it takes time, effort and patience to pull strong examples from your career and life that you can then use when needed in an interview. Good question though, made me think!
A coffee chat interview is usually very informal - not as structured as a competency-based / behavioral / situation interview where an interviewer might be using a scoring framework to assess your answers. It's also usually in a more casual setting than an office, such as a bar or coffee shop.
Hi, I have a question… in a recent interview for Finance role I was asked about priorities like if I have a month end deadline but I needed to help another department as he had an auditor asking urgent questions… what would I do first as both are urgent. I answered best I could but have not heard from company yet 😢. I wish to know how to answer in future a (priority/. How to handle difficult colleagues questions) please 🙏🏻
When weighing urgent vs important here I would imagine the auditor is the more immediate priority, but I would still recommend communicating with both parties so they're aware of your workload - it may turn out that someone else can cover the auditors query, but without further context I would imagine the auditor might a slightly higher priority in terms of immediacy.
Hi Axel, I recommend taking a complex or time-consuming task you regularly complete already (such as spreadsheets, timesheets, reporting etc) and talk about the learning process you went through. Try to include something you needed to learn by a deadline, such as an event or a date a task was due by. Use the star method to answer as this will help to cover the 'how did you manage' part of the question. I have a video on the star method here if you need it ruclips.net/video/VUePf1m4TvQ/видео.html
@Tafari I Thank you for subscribing, I really appreciate it and wish you luck with your application form. You make an interesting point - if an employer has a certain view point it may affect the interview and your experience, it's called the Halo Effect and I will likely do a video covering this as it can affect an interview but it is possible to neutralize or overcome this. Thank you for the comment.
Hi there, I am preparing for the interview. I applied to security position at international organization and now can't figure out how to answer for competency based questions. I didn't work under pressure and didn't go beyond the employer expectations. What should I do now?
I have a video on Competency based qustions here: ruclips.net/video/vis9SLvnnBo/видео.html Are there specific competency questions you're worried about?
You could use an example of your team working together and why you found it helpful and rewarding, a good exmaple answer is included in my DWP work coach video 1.58, link is here: ruclips.net/video/u0Rgjjm326g/видео.html

I love your eloquence. But can one really conjure up such a response on the fly in an interview?
Thank you!
Short answer is yes - in my experience of working with jobseekers.

Great video. What is the difference with coffee chat interviews?🤩

Pls help me dis question.
When was the last time that you learned something complex in a short time? How did you manage.
