- It's always fun plowing snow after a big storm but there are a lot of hazards to watch for. It is a full time job watching out for people clearing their driveways. It keeps me on my toes! Slow and easy wins the race when it comes to safety! Enjoy the Dashcam View!

Best part is when he plows some snow.
You must have liked the whole video! Thanks for watching!
JimHowDigs good job buddy. looks like years of experience. be safe brother
Only thing I didn't like is when he plowed my wife!! :(
I watch a lot of re-plowing and driveway plugging.
I like when he passed the guy with the snowblower.
my dad plows for our town and I rode with him thru a couple storms it gets real hairy out there , so hats off to all the snowplow drivers out there
Thank you!
Jason Mac yeah man, the worst is when you go out in a bad storm and can't see shit or even where the road is lol
Jason Mac code four
Was called angry John I still don’t know why
lol you can tell its Canada everyone waves when you bury them back in their driveways.... ;) great video
Thanks Michael! Friendly people around here, one lady even gave me homemade cookies on the way by.
Haha I have a love hate relationship with my plow guy, I swear he sits down the road waiting for me to clear the driveway. hehe
yep lol
Very Funny !
At first I thought it was going to be a boring video.
I ended up watching the whole thing!
This is one of those satisfying videos.
School kids hate you lol...but im 24 and I've learned to appreciate you
I hear they hate me because they have to go to school instead of getting a snow day. Ain't that right beaker15 Tyler ? lol
The school bus drivers wave, the kids throw us the finger..... I laugh everytime
@@tacobeef The kids that throw the finger, their parents throw the shovels.
Im 14 and i love plow trucks cause that means here in CT its time to go drifting in the road
i "hate" you guys too , destroying my snowy drift roads 😂
jokes aside , thanks for this work to keep streets safe !
It's nice to see people waving to you instead of flipping you the bird. Your work goes mostly unappreciated. You guys are awesome! Thank you, and thanks for the ride-along.
My mother plowed snow up here in northern Maine for many years. Like many people I see in your video, it's quite common to wave to the plow guy. :) Stay warm, keep 'er between the ditches & you'll be alright. lol Thanks for sharing! I love your video's.
I enjoyed this way more than I probably should have...
it would be cool if you a had a camera faced backwards in the rear, to see the progress :) greetings from sweden :)
I have lots of videos with various angles. Check out this one! ruclips.net/video/woHKVj4KS6Y/видео.html
Thanks for watching!
JimHowDigsDirt Tanks
JimHowDigsDirt thanks
Det hade vart nice
Greetings from Volvoraggarn
xD
I enjoyed the experience, thanks! Who knew what it is like for you guys. Well done!
Thank you for coming along for the ride!
I love these videos, there so calm and relaxing and peaceful to watch. I love snow plow trucks. Thank you for taking the time to record this and thank you for plowing the roads for all of us. 😊👍✌️
i miss snow like that Missouri don't get much anymore though a few inches and people don't know what to do .
It's the middle of January now and there's hardly any snow on the ground here. It was like this two years ago then we got hit hard in Feb. and March. It would be nice to get a couple good storms to play in before winter is over.
Wow brings back memories when i use to live in michigan born& raised there.winters can be brutal! I reside in florida now.good times!☺
BEAUTIFUL SCENERY! Thank you for sharing this with us all Jim! :)
If I was a trucker I'd probably hook up a 2-tone steam train whistle to my air and have a chuckle with every bystander :)
That's a sweet sounding rig!
Ha as a firefighter I lover your renaming of your profession! Good on Ya!
...
i always appreciate people who choose to park their vehicle in the street while they clear their driveway rather than moving it to one side or the other or to the end for the time being. (shakes head) oh well, thanx for the ride along buddy
Listening to those chains whipping really takes me back to my childhood taking the bus in the winter time. Nowadays they cover the roads in salt here in Norway.
Never get tired of that windshield scenery , been plowing for padot for 25 years, nice job.
the sound of chain on the payment........like it.
I'm a truck driver and have a massive amount of respect for all the salt shakers out there. Big thanks.
Thanks brother!
I do enjoy watching you guys plow snow it been in the. 80 and 90 here cools me off.
snow plow perators should have the same status on the road as emergency vehicles! They need to plow the way for the emergency vehicles to get their jobs done!
Luke Evans lol, you are not very intelligent
This is a very satisfying video! Im glad you aren't one of those jerks that just plows and doesn't care about people blowing their driveways and stuff. LISTENING TO THE SHIFTING WAS VERY SATISFYING ASWELL AHHA
This so reminds me of my old home in Jamtland, Sweden. Nostalgia.
this gives a new perspective on what plow drivers have to watch out for
LOVE it plowed snow for Cortland County for 15 years. That looked about right. I was mostly night shift.
It can be a lot of fun at times.
Idk why it's so satisfying to see snow getting plowed lol i guess its nice to know these guys are probably saving lifes from the idiots using half bald summer tires going 45+
Haley ?!?!? hi
Haley ?!?!? think they call it snow blind where the white of the snow messes with your eyes
+Jake Watson jake?
Anthony J 'murica
Snow&pickup,that's kingdom of heaven !
Life is good my friend! Thanks for watching!
Still one of the best plowing videos out there.
Thanks Donald! Hope to get some new ones soon!
I would love to listen to nothing but an hour of one of these trucks taking that first pass on a road. It's something about the truck working hard.
First let me say THANK YOU!, most days I'm confined to bed and you made me feel like I was along for the ride. Second I never considered the obstacles and pedestrians and such you guys have to deal with in conjunction to an already at times tough job. I deeply appreciated your video, thank you.
Thank you spudrubble! I am grateful to be able to share this video and give people an operator perspective of some of the hazards encountered while doing our job. I'm glad you came along for the ride! Take care my friend!
Love the videos thanks for posting them please do more!!
Hi Jim thanks for the ride , its safe riding with you...Good job...
JimHowDigsDirt: I drove plow and sander for years, highway and township roads and it sure is a thankless job with long hours. But I miss every second of it. Thanks for keeping our roads clear, and putting up with the crazies. Stay safe brother.
Excellent video. Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
I love the people who plow the roads. I'll be getting up for work at 4am and then they come clearing the roads for me lol.
Some how I love watching stuff like this
You should watch more...of my videos, lol.
I Plow for nbdot. Love the sorry when you fill the driveways, I do the same thing
This reminds me of the famous tug hill in New York. Nice sounding truck.
Many years ago the Dept of Highways in my area would send out someone and wait for everyone in the area to get their drive ways cleaned out then send out the plows to block them. They thought is was a big joke to plug every ones driveway just after they had it cleaned out.So one night the supervisor was at work and a group of my neighbors gave him payback. 2 guys that had dump trucks completely filled his drive with many loads of snow.It wasn't so funny then. Payback is a bitch.
What goes around comes around, lol.
The local snowblower salesman probably lives in the biggest house in town.
Maan, that is one thing I do not miss from being up north...
Don't think my back could take another year of shoveling snow..
Glad I'm back south of the Mason/Dixon line again..
i'm a snow fighter myself for the state of NY,those are the looks i get when i'm out doing my job, some may see it as just running up and down pissing people off but the reality is they want you out there until its down to black top, we are not allowed to record ourselves snowplowing otherwise i would post some videos.
Too bad you aren't allowed recording yourself plowing snow! I bet you see all kinds of crazy shit down there. I would think they would allow you to have a dashcam for your own protection in case you are ever involved in an accident! I always have my dashcam on when plowing snow.
You sir, have restored my faith in...Canadians???? Plus what a great office you have.
Thank you! I love my office and yes I am a proud Canadian, ehh!
My dad is on the brine tanker that goes from sydney to port hawkesbury . A couple of years ago we hauled to antagonish when the plow shed went burnt
You really gave that toe some slack. I found that turtle wax paste wax does a good job at lubricating the slide. I was limited in what i was allowed to use at state DOT. Great video. I wish it illustrated how much that wing impacts the ride when you hit snowbanks that people leave behind. My snow fighter days have ended. Stay safe.
Good job! I always wanted to live. Somewhere like this! I love snow
AnglingNVirginia it's nova Scotia
AnglingNVirginia not just Nova Scotia pictou county Nova Scotia
I love snow I find it so relaxing to watch especially if it's completely quiet out while it's snowing! Uhh that is just pure bliss!
I agree! Thanks for watching!
I do this everyday for a ski resort in Canada. Tons of satisfaction after a fresh plow and Sand.
Spent a week at pictou lodge last summer. Beautiful area with great people. Merry Christmas from Ottawa
Glad you enjoyed your visit! Please come again!
I live in Syracuse NY and we get an average of 130" a season. In the last few years, our city plow drivers have found a new way to piss everyone off. Not only do they plow the driveway back in but now have figured out if they drive 30mph with a plow it will not only throw the snow on the edge of the road but it flys over onto the sidewalk. so everything you do is for nothing.
We don't plow the driveways in on purpose! That's just where the snow goes when we plow it of the road and can't be avoided. As far as driving fast enough to fill in the sidewalks after they have been plowed... well that's just amature. A good plow operator would slow down and respect the work of others. Thanks for the comment!
Did you know this is the most hated people who snow fighting in norway. Just for one reason. Driving on fresh snow is better than on a just cleared road
Depends how much lol fwd car even with best winters. Your having trouble in anything over 8 inches or so
Being stuck in traffic because of dangerous road conditions and seeing a fleet of snow plows pass by must be what getting saved feels like.
Great Video.
I always wait till after the snow plow goes by, lol
Like the name you gave it, liked the ride along. One question? how do you know where the road/lane is?
MudMotorMania most of the time the trucks have GPS devices to help them
Pretty cool to watch. So many laughs per day do you get out of filling in a freshly plowed drive way? lol I would have way to much fun with that job.
Learn to wait until after the snowplow.
Eastern Explorer RIGHT!!!
Dicky Ball It’s a joke not a dick don’t take it so hard. Grow up.
Eastern Explorer don’t think you would
i don't know why but I like watching these
It's like taking a nice drive in the country without feeling all the bumps!
1:40 ya, I'm just gonna pass this plow truck......
Plowing snow is so much fun, i enjoyed my time in public works. Sucks when your not the first on the road and other vehicles pack it down into ice.
I know that feeling! When I just started back to work this season the roads where hard packed like that.
Hell yea!!! I say, if it's gonna be gloomy and cold af. there might as well be a couple foot of snow on the ground. I wish it snowed this much these days, some years we are lucky to have a couple inches on the ground.
bum4rt
used to work for indot,, nothing like plowing I-65 at 50mph watching that snow fly with dead deer and chunks of blown tires from 18wheelers...kinda miss it bun now the pay
Shawn Couwenhoven i work for Njdot and same thing man lol except i love the pay, $43 an hour and some days you just sit in your truck lol
The Jersey Ninja
How do you get a job like that? Making 86k a year. Do you sign up or do you need experience. I wouldn't mind removing snow from a plow and getting dough
Very considerate plow driver. The guys that work for my County would see you trying to snowblower your driveway, turn around and make pass after pass in front of it until the apron is completely filled in.
I usually just slow down and give a friendly wave! Most people around here just smile and wave back as they know am just doing my job! Thanks for watching!
A couple of questions
Where do you work?
How fast do you travel plowing snow ?
Do you have a wing plow also?
To all drivers who do these, thank you.
thanks to people like you, we don't have to go out with barefoot.
Heh. I can’t tell if you’re running a wing or not. The post cable seems to stay slack the whole time so I’m guessing no wing? Heh. I dunno. We just had our annual “snowplow rodeo and obstacle course” last week and it was a lot of fun for the operators and mechanics (me) alike. Stay safe!
keep 'er between the ditches thanks for keeping the rest of us moving
Be glad when the new videos come on for 2018.
I was going to ask if you were running a side plow, but that pretty narrow road you are plowing.
Winter wonderland!!!!!
Wish I could do that, looks neat.
hey, fantastic video, im from nova scotia as well, and things can get pretty hairy up in cape breton. but i know one thing for certain, ill definitely be getting another plow for my 3/4 ton because im sock and tired of shoveling
Those are some cold bleak moments in the snow. Keep up the good work and stay safe!
Thanks, will do! Sound like you been there and done that?
Wow...You really have watch for the people plowing and snow blowing their driveways. You can tell they have no clue that they could be getting run over by the plow truck. It’s a good thing your so cautious.
Well, from the East coast of Australia, currently in the south of China, I am watching you clear snow late in the night, Why ? I have never seen snow, except in comic books of white christmas. What a beautiful place you are in, right out of a comic book. Curious, Where is this town ? what do people do for a living there ?
Saw the Nova Scotia flag! I'm from New-Brunswick! Winter have jjst began haha nice video!!
Thanks! I don't think we get nearly as much snow here as you do in New Brunswick.
What's your thought when plowing the road just after someone worked to clear his driveway entrance? Lol
charls seal wait till it's done or expect to go out again enough said
charls seal I'm sure its somewhere along the lines of "shit, sorry buddy!"
charls seal I was cringing at the people he drove past that had JUST finished clearing the assload of snow on the end of the drive way. I live in a corner, I know the feeling. Oh well at least the roads are drive able on
Too bad. Keeping the road clear is a lot more important than your driveway.
Yeah - and to be fair it seems he slows down a bit when passing peoples driveways
cool ride along txs for the upload....* thumbs up... !!!
nice of him to slow down and not throw the snow as hard at the people with the snowblowers
Nice, wish this weather would be here more often (Holland).
Did you see the part where he plowed the snow?
uh no....must have went too sleep.
Nope I missed that, How’d it go?
Lol no... when?!? 😂
This has always been my dream job. No joke. Sadly I am stuck to a fucking desk for work. I'm so dumb for not following what I really wanted to do. The only thing that has kept me sane is working a snow cat at one of our ski resorts here in Colorado on the weekends and my days off. It's pure heaven when I am doing that.
You have to follow your dreams!
Where is this? I'm sure it's lovely when the snow melts, but I'm glad I live in Southern California.
Nova Scotia on the east coast of Canada. I would love to be in California for the winter.
That job would freak me out (not knowing where the road is). Thankful for the folks who plow our roads.
Wow. That blades really oscillates
I like snow but dam, lol not this much. Cool video 👍
At 4:28 Jim pushed the snow back to the guy's driveway! 😂 🤣😛 😜 😝👍
Not many commercial plow trucks clearing the driveways. Mostly homeowners with snowblowers.
What an amazing job to do
It can be a lot of fun!
Grew up 5 miles from Lake Ontario in upstate NY, 100 to 300 inches of snow a year. The record was 59 inches in one night.
Wow...that's a lot of snow! It would take weeks to clean up that mess.
safn1949 I still live in it not rare to wake up with close to 3 feet of fresh snow
Hey, I live in the same area as you, I'm from Fulton, sadly.
I would love to experience snow. Looks so cool. It never snows where I live
it’s great
Where are we in the world? I am 60 miles Southwest of DC and we had 2 feet 1/23/16, but I see by his video, this is a week later...So not sure where it is.
My favorite part was you plowing roads already plowed. And the residents started opening up their driveways and you re-plow the roads and re-blocked their driveways.
I feel bad for doing it, but I'm just doing my job! Thanks for watching!
ahhhhhhh can't wait to get some snow and start plowing you guys get trucks equipped about 4hrs from where I am
Cool Video JimHowDigsDirt
Wish we had that much snow here in Chicago, IL and just be as happy if we get some similar weather like we had back in 2011
I figured you guys would get lots of snow along the lake!
JimHowDigsDirt not lately, we’re lucky to get a 1-3 inches of snow.. this season was mainly clear of snow but single digits temperatures
Should see some of the guys here in Sweden plow... Haha, they come full throttle and any asphalt they catch comes with them, you can see the scrapes sometimes.
It happened to me in this video. Luckily I was only crawling along. ruclips.net/video/pBJSLuZqAW0/видео.html
My dad drove plow for the province of NB. you need to be quite a person to drive. you miss allot of family time. Kudo's to you keep up the good work
Thank you Greenshadow84! I do enjoy plowing snow, but you are right when you said you can miss a lot of family time working these long hours for days on end.
