What naysayers here need to understand is the longevity proposed in the video always intends "in good health". Maybe Hyman should not have described the subject as SHOCKING.
He recommended a vegan diet, plenty of exercise and loving social connectedness. He also did not want to share more because his other efforts are only for him. He has a genetic cholesterol problem, for example. He said it is not one size fits all.
I want to live a long healthy life but it's sad to see people my generation leave me one by one overtime. Not many humans can live pass 100 years. Yes live long and healthy is nice but it should be a time to leave. Too old mean ugly and weak, no matter, plus loneliness because everyone die before you. I have a grand Aunt who died at 103. She's barely sick all her life, and a happy woman with a fulfilled life. At 103 she asked family to stop feeding her. She lived her last week on water only to cleanse her system. She died peacefully with all beloved ones around her. It's scary to live that long.
I dont think your listening...they are talking about reversal where you can go back to a 35-50 year old..whatever you want..no one is talking about extending a feeble and body...you want to live long enough to intercept these technologies for reversal. If people want to die, cool..you do you! Me, I want to see different worlds and I want to see and know generations of my family. I want to be there for my kids to help them as well
It's a testament to how badly people really understand the issue of aging that they think longevity means living longer as an old person. It's not going to work that way. This will be the restoration of function to a point further back in a typical life.
I interviewed people 14 years ago that were over 120 years old that didn't even look over 100 they didn't even look over 50.. they don't eat what we eat they don't drink what we drink and they exercise everyday most of them run 5 miles a day.
@@Plainsimple67 I uploaded the video over nine times and RUclips deleted it without warning it was no copyright infringement whatsoever because me and two other friends of mine were doing the interview. This was Southern Montana a very small community about 47 people. All were over 120 yrs old and didn't look it by a long shot no health problems and all exercised and ate very healthy
I hope you saw a doctor and got good advise/treatment. There is something interesting that has just come out. It probably should not at this stage replace nornal full blood work, but it is pretty amazing. SYMPHONYAge from TruDiagnostics can show how each organ system is aging in you, and even suggests actions you can take to mitigate the more concerning issues based on your unique physiology. The general advice that is usually given by experts is: Enhance sleep (end daily eating earlier. Less blue and white light near bedtime. Don't neglect hydration. Regular bedtime. Address sleep apnea if present. Somewhat cool location, mid 50s to mid 60s F. Dark room. Try to get 7-9 hours each night. If necessary, low level melatonin...usually 1mg or less, may help). Maintain good body composition (maintaining a healthy body composition is important for reducing risk of metabolic syndrome, joint damage, cancer risk, and many other issues. DEXA to assess, but a body comp scale can track progress day to day. If fat loss is necessary to reach 27% fat for women and 19% for men, then it is important to lose that fat slowly and retain muscle. Resistance training, creatine, and sufficient protein is usually recommended.) Exercise (a small amount of high intensity interval training, maybe 5 min...for mitochondria, 20+ minutes a day of exercise at the limit of nose breathing...for heart, brain, sleep and arteries. Stretching (20-30 second stretches post workout) to reduce risk of injury. 10 minutes of isometric exercise like wall sitting for resting heart rate improvement. These things must be built up to slowly. Start with resistance training well within your abilities, and light walking...if you are starting from scratch. ). Maintain a good diet (easily the most confusing cacophony of conflicting advice. Most reputable experts recommend the Mediterranean diet or vegetarian. Mostly they agree that vegetables with various colors should be present daily, legumes, some berries, some raw nuts/seeds, some leafy greens, some cruciferous vegetables, some healthy oils like olive oil, should also be eaten. Then we get quite a bit of divergence. Healthy whole grains or not. Lean cuts of meat, or not. Fish, or not. Eggs, or not. Dairy, or not. Most say little or no added sugar. No alcohol (some not up-to-date say a little alcohol). Some recommend including foods with lots of polyphenols.) I greatly reduce Advanced Glycation End-products (AGEs) by adjustments to diet cooking techniques. I also take supplements which reduce their formation in the body. I try to reduce neurotoxins, especially lead, cadmium and fluoride, mostly by omitting foods with these. I also avoid Saigon Cinnamon, and anything with real licorice. I prefer avocado oil to extra virgin olive oil, because olive oil has a lot of AGEs. I eat a number of food regularly that make me feel better: artichoke, hibiscus tea, tofu... I ask myself an hour after eating if I feel good. I try to get variety. I experiment with vegetables that my parents never prepared. I eat different seeds and nuts, berries, spices, different edible mushrooms, herbs. I don't eat a variety of cheeses, wines, olive oils etc. I try to eat low AGE cheeses and there are few. All grape products and alcohol are out. I eat meat, eggs, dairy, and fish. I don't eat pork, but I eat beef and lamb. I believe the reason these foods tend to be poor for health is the preparation methods and to some extent saturated fat, which can also be reduced in preparation. There are limits. Too much iron can be bad. Failure to get enough vegetables because of too much meat is a mistake. I am not a Nazi about sugar. In moderation, I am not concerned. I try to reduce processed grain products. Only oats, and wild rice, at the moment (my current experiment). I take several supplements, including antioxidants. If one takes vitamin E, it should be the natural form. I think natural exercise is preferable especially hiking, climbing, rucking, rowing, swimming, crawling, shoveling, carrying things, chopping wood... That said, doing exercise you enjoy is probably best. And at least some of the time something that develops, balance. Avoiding falls is important. Dance is a great choice. The positive upbeat stuff, I think, is an exaggeration. Amygdala breaks down in old age, and you naturally then become more upbeat. However, negative emotions can cause damage like resentment, regret, anger, hate... Watching things that stir up negative emotions, I think, is very unhealthy. Watching kittens, beautiful scenes, decent humor and such is better. I think we want to be on our feet, not counting exercise time, at least 3 hours a day.
ok people...if you really want this stuff to come to fruition. We must make this political and we must pressure our politicians immediately. Make it a priority for your voting preference ...
The greatest question of all that no one is addressing is this. What is turning off the Yamanaka factors in the first place? There is some sort of clock that is turning them off within timeframe X. Without identifying the countdown to demise clock, forcing them on will still be a temporary fix. Obviously Scientists know how to turn them off, but I've never heard or read anyone talking about discovery of the clock coding that stops these gene expressions. There are a host of proteins that are turned on that accelerate aging later on.
Interessting approach. I mean David Sinclair has this model of a Information loss. So every communication ( i guess between cells) can have a loss of information . Which leads to the wrong epigenetic expression. And the Yamanakafaktors restores the backup of the cell, to get original information. If we stop send data, there will be no informationloss but also no life 😢.
Sort of shocked that Hyman reference this bogus idea that older people should eat animal protein. You can just eat the plant-based foods with leucine: soyfoods, pumpkin seeds, seitan, and tempeh, for example, if you want more leucine. Also, the healthy centenarians in the Blue Zones are not overly muscular and they don't work out at gyms. Body builders typically die prematurely, if not very prematurely. Was Hyman overemphasizing muscle?
Love your work Dr Hyman, not sure about this interview I could not get pass 10 minutes listen to your guess, especially when it comes down on animal experimentation and drugs.
How is it click bait when people do live over 100 yo and the science is now showing ways people can reverse their biological age. Breakthroughs don't come from your way of thinking.
