As a former IBM mainframe operator, we ran long-running data jobs that on occasion would abend. Long-running jobs took checkpoint restarts. The data stream would automatically take a checkpoint usually when a new tape was being loaded. As a result, a job that had an abend could be restarted at the last known checkpoint. So all was not lost and there was light at the end of the tunnel.
It was an amazing thing when the last generation suffered from smallpox and then polio. I hope a universal viral vaccine makes makes me among the last generation that had to suffer from all viral infections.
I love this guy

Sounds horrible
What in particular did you think was horrible?
What's horrible about bioscience?
If you think biotech is horrible, you are a naive Luddite who watches too many dumb sci-fi movies.
Why?
