    Not a chance.
    What we saw at Citcon, where it was said that most of it should make it into Star Citizen Verse this year, has to make it into Verse by the end of the year. However, we have all had the experience that some things have been postponed in every patch.
    In addition, we are still missing a lot of things that have not even been mentioned yet, such as ship armour, subtargeting, orga functions, a deeper reputation system, Banus, Tevarin and also extraterrestrial creatures.
    When dynamic server meshing is up and running at some point, there will also be all the stories with blades, NPC missions and also NPCs to hire as gunners, miners, etc.
    With every point I list here, I can think of three more points that are still missing.
    So no, Star Citizen Release is still too far away. The development journey here will take even longer and I have no problem with that because I can understand why it will take even longer.
    But to say here that SC 1.0 could come in the next 2 years is something that splits the community again and 2 years later there's a lot of moaning because the game hasn't been released yet.

    • @CrusstySculpture
      @CrusstySculpture 4 месяца назад +8

      I get what you're saying, but the difference between what we were told at this CitCon compared to previous events is evidence. We've now seen plenty of these systems working, even in a lab setting. That's different to all other times where grand promises have been made.
      We always should take info with a grain of salt, but we can give CIG more credit now since we've got evidence of what they're going to deliver.
      Cautious optimism, always.

    • @MindBurntDE
      @MindBurntDE 4 месяца назад +6

      @@CrusstySculpture Yes, most of what we saw at CitCon will be done by the end of 2024. That's true... and yet there are still many other things that have nothing to do with Squadron 42 but are needed for Star Citizen. The NPC gameplay alone, where you can hire NPCs, will take some time until the system has been integrated for all gameplays such as NPC gunners, miners, salvagers, etc.
      Just the lack of modularity with so many ships like the Carrack, Caterpillar, Retaliator where we are still missing the other variant and so on.
      On the subject of modularity, I also immediately think of the Endeavour, where the different modules bring different gameplays with them, such as the farming module.
      Honestly, the more I write, the more I can think of points that are still missing and that is not feasible in 1-2 years. That's why I think this rumour of a 2025 Star Citizen release is impossible, especially as Squadron 42 has to be released before then!
      Yes, CitCon has pushed my optimism, but I'm not exaggerating with my wishes, I'm staying realistic.

Assuming they can get Pyro out and working within the next year, I think 2 full years for those goals is quite achievable. We don't know if other companies a) even see a need for it big enough to put a boatload of devs on it and b) how far along they'd be and c) if it's even a comparable solution (server meshing can both be done with static sized instances and dynamically sized ones. The latter is what SC needs, but it's also a lot more challenging than the already challenging server meshing is to begin with).

There are a a Few technologies that have to be invented to get to Dynamic Server Meshing - or 'equivalent tech'. CIG has the patents and invented all of the 'X' in those research papers that had to be figured out to achieve it.
      Thats why it only existed on paper for so long.. The large corporations, industry or tech institutes were not going to spend - time and money, when you cant even come up with an estimate of how long or how much it will cost - or if its even possible to solve the missing technology solutions that have to be invented first, before you can even think about Dynamically meshing servers on demand@@asmosisyup2557

    A partially instanced main questline narrative experience is music to my ears. The use of instancing for enabling greater content scope and accessibility outside of the "open environment" is also very good music to my ears. This will enable them to build far more environments and for them to be far more granular and specifically designed for that particular instanced content, without having to always prioritize the open environment flow over all other considerations. They're already pretty good at crafting level design for an open environment, and we've seen from SQ42 they're *excellent* at crafting narrative, linear level design content. I am extremely enthused for the integration of that SQ42-quality level design into SC, beneath the "open environment" skin.

    If you think about it, for a game of this scope, it's not far off from AAA companies like R* and Bethesda especially when you consider the jump off point. The company was just a startup in 2012. Had the growing pains of a startup til 2016. Finally found its footing and had multiple studios by 2018. Now, over 10 years later, may release in 1.0 which is basically Beta for SC lol.

      Took a look at the Star map, and I see Vega and Oberon as extremely unlikely unless there’s more than five systems coming, or if Odin is not a thing. Remember that any system added will need to connect directly to an existing system. See Stanton to Pyro, Pyro to Nyx, and Nyx to Odin. None of those connect directly to Vega. The closest is Nyx, and even that requires Brennen. So if your assumption is accurate, that not possible. More likely is that we get Brennen instead of Odin.
      They could also pull a switcheroo and move from Stanton to Magnus or even Terra, but I find that less likely. If I was CIG, I would want to cover as much variety as possible, and by extension, get as far away from Stanton as possible.

    While a 4 year goal for 1.0 release might be more realistic in some ways, I would be more concerned if that was their internal goal. Everything in this leak is things we know they are working on and if everything goes smoothly then two years is probably not that unrelaistic. Challenges will arise though and lots of aspects for features that haven't been thoroughly thought out will need to be adressed.
    As an example, we got vehicle tractor beams, but in practice they aren't fullfilling their role in the envisioned manner and will need some more iteration before 1.0. Same with structural salvage and so on. But basicly everything will continue to be iterated on even after release so what baseline they want for a beta and 1.0 remains to be seen.

I can see the Q1 getting as much of SQ 42 features out so we can help polish and debug them for a SQ 42 release. The rest can be doubled because SC seems to be release new feature and have to have the next patch focus on fixing all of the said bugs on new feature. Once server meshing is in and stable I can see them looking to a 1.0 release but I don’t see that any sooner than 4-5 years out. You want a 1.0 release to be stable and all the current in game features functional. Right now some gameplay loops like the Hull C cargo hauling are completely broken.

    I don't know that it's an unrealistic target date if they stick to the goals they set for a launch back in 2018. At this point the only things left on their list are Server Meshing and Org Tools. Server Meshing is in testing now and the first version should be out later this year. That gives another year for dynamic server meshing. Org tools aren't something that are dependent on other features, so we should be scanning the progress tracker for new cards in the coming months for things related to that.

      I've never played SC, mostly because I'm not interested in being a guinea pig... but I never thought the game was a scam. I believe the people behind it genuinely want to deliver on all of their promises. But I think it's pretty evident that there were a lot of issues with scoping and project management on this game. AAA games do take between 6-10 years to develop these days, so the development time on this game honestly is not unreasonable. 12 years for a game like SC isn't even really outlandish. But what has been unreasonable is that they kept overestimating how quickly they could deliver things. I think if they were just honest from the start with "Yeah, this is ambitious, it's going to take a long time, but you can play it while we make it", everything would have been fine.
      Again, I dont' think it's a scam. Far from it... but the project has had a lot of issues with their project management and PR.

    I thought that S42 would only be released by end of 2025. Which would make sense that by end 2025 they would have the PU at 1.0(release version). But they will still do a lot of development, prob forever ongoing for the PU. Might even release solar systems as big events through the years. Thereby building and fleshing out the verse.

    I would assume they are going to carry on hiring more staff within 2 years. This will also rely on Sq42 coming out this year which would put a few hundred more devs on SC. don't think it's possible but with the manpower, I believe they will knock some crazy massive milestones out of the way and bring a lot more ships into the game. 1.0 does not mean they will stop there though it's just a version number nothing to worry about development will go on as normal.

      Technically when it comes to the goal of a hundred star systems it's still not possible. At 1 system per month thats 10 years and at 1 system per year that's a hundred years. Either way you slice it you're looking at a few decades worth of development in order to finish Star Citizen.

    • @ZaneDragonBorn
      @ZaneDragonBorn 4 месяца назад

      @Nightcore_Paradise 1.0 as stated isn't planned to launch with all 100. Your estimations are also incorrect.
      Keep in mind that SC's systems are not all the same. Some are full of meaningless lifeless rocks you can mine on or terraform, and very few such as terra have cities and life throughout. With planet tech V5 its going to be so fricken easy to generate planets, I am not the least bit concerned. Really, very few systems need the dev team concerned over detail.
      Basically, every system is different, and most of them are baren. CIG has many devs they can allocate to these systems, and they have tools that make them easy to complete. Keep in mind every stat on dev time for a system we have seen in 2023 is meaningless as they don't represent the same pool of resources and time that 2024 sc has and is gaining.

    Chiming in as a follow-up on 3/18/24: the Q1 3.23 patch released to the Evocati yesterday is *indeed* a massive patch with tons of new stuff, much of it clearly coming over from SQ42 like Master Modes, plus engineering gameplay is coming in the testing channel in Arena Commander. Also the Evocati are testing static server meshing & the replication layer with the early results showcasing a greatly increased server cap. It's really extraordinary.
    This first Evo test release version doesn't contain all of the planned features, and there's definitely going to be a 3.23.1 for the upcoming Invictus event... but even if it was *just* these first items to be tested then it would still be one of the largest and most transformative patches in years.
    I'm hoping that LevelCap will revisit this video at the end of 2024 and essentially "react" to it and describe how accurate the leaks were, what didn't get released, and what else came out that *wasn't* in the leaks.
    Anyway, great video as always, thanks!

    Firstly, a two year timeline for anything Star Citizen related is wildly ambitious. While I want to have hope, realistically speaking we all know how notorious CIG is for making a deadline and then missing it by a long shot.
    Second, they absolutely should not add base building until more planets are added. At current, the limited number of planets and moons would make for an awkward time claiming land. For example, say I wanted to illegally set up a very small outpost hidden in a forest. How many other people might have the same idea? With millions of Star Citizen players, land claims would be taken up way quicker than people think.
