lots to do in the game at the moment but nearly none if it works,
    1. Cargo sometimes doesnt spawn ( takes credits and doesnt give you anything )
    2. Some ships wont power on leaving you stuck in the drivers seat with no choice but to altf4 the game and reclaim the ship
    3. Characters stuck holding items in hand leaving you to have to hold back space and die
    4. ships not spawning in hangers
    5. heart rate bugging out sitting at 190bpm constantly so not being able to run, slowly losing health and dying
    6. larger ships not being able to dock and undock then getting the ship inpounded becuase your in the way because you cant undock
    7. elevators bugging in ships causing you to be stuck under them
    8. clipping through ships and stations causing you to be yeeted into space and dying
    9. falling through your ship while in QT forcing you to just sit in the chair the whole trip
    10. hanger doors not oppening but looking like they are open so you drive your ship straight into the door and it explodes
    11. being stuck in a seat forcing you to have to alt f4 the game and reclaim the ship
    12. stuck in ship beds with only option given to log off, so having to have someone come and blow the ship up just so you can get out
and these are only the bugs ive seen the few hours ive played since the last patch

Agreed. They keep trying to tell us that it's in alpha and to expect bugs (which is ok I guess), but they're marketing and advertising the game as if it's live with more ship sales, suit, ship, and weapon cosmetics, and worrying so much about concurrent player counts. They need to focus more on stability and bugs, which will prevent the player base from logging off and waiting for the next patch to see if anything got fixed.

Replication layer separation has already done A LOT of heavy lifting from what the servers were prior to its release, server meshing will undoubtedly expound upon that with multiplicative effects. After both are out they can focus on optimization and refining of them. The fact that its stated the next major update after 4.0 will be the potential 1.0 is beyond insanity, but well see. A lot of the core tech is already in, things are looking great, it needs a lot of polishing but itll get there.

it is, once its fully implemented AND optimized, basically CIG needs to balance our experience vs server costs, if its not optimized it means more servers will need to be spooled up essentially for no reason, so they need to balance and optimise this, though many factors to eg how many players can play together and interact in a area is also client side limited, eg what can your GPU handle, so other optimisations are needed engine side as well to get the full benefit out of the server meshing, so the bulk of the benefits wont be seen for probably another 2-3 years.

Advertising the game isn’t a problem, its a great way to draw players in and generate revenue. The problem is How CIG is advertising the game as finished, stable, working features with awesome missions (and sliding which isn’t even in the game yet?tf?XD) that are complete able and consistent. The fact CIG are stuffing new ships down throats instead of fixing major issues is very enlightening. A major issue seems to be their testers and the Evo Cati (early testers who can directly report bugs in new features) are so invested in the game and gaming, if their willing to spend that much money on ships and packages, no doubt their running the game on fucking NASA computers, the average player with a simple starter pack and a ryzen 5 with 16-31 gigs of ddr3/4 and a 2060/80 often gets awful performance, i myself have never seen upwards of 40FPS even in space. Almost seems like CIG dont recognise how bad performance and bugs are because they haven’t experienced them much themselves, or as frequently as the general citizen.

SC started crowdfunding TWELVE years ago, and was launched into "playability" a few years after, having NINE straight years of a product not just in full production, but actually released to the public and taking their money, also effectively having thousands of free testers, and is still not even in a 1.0 state. The biggest annoyance with ground vehicles like the Nursa is that you have to go to a mining facility to spawn one, and then drive it into your ship. It takes so much time to gear up for an FPS mission that it's almost not realistic to do with friends on a week night, but it's more like preparing for a raid in WoW or something. And larger "raid" type gameplay is fine, and it's okay if that is a weekend-only event, but simple FPS missions should not take so long. We need to be able to spawn vehicles in normal hangars inside of our ship and be done with it.

People complain about the time and money it has taken to make this game. Lets put it into perspective.
    CIG
Total cost so far around 5-600mill and they have raised 700mill
    12 years in development
Had to build a massive company with multiple studios worldwide from scratch
Had to Staff all of it from scratch
Developed the entire engine (Twice) once on Cry and once with Lumberyard and now they are pretty much so custom its a whole new engine
Invent network code that has never existed that will allow MILLIONS of people in 1 server
They are making 2 games not 1, Star Citizen and Squadron 42.
Doing things no game has ever done such as planet size cities, real-time face tracking, No NPC in the entire universe looks the same, procedural generation is off the charts
    GTA 6
    2 billion dollars so far
6 years in development if its released on time
    Pre-existing company
    Pre-existing franchise
    Pre-existing staff
Pre-existing engine (i am sure they have made improvements though)
Star Citizen is the most ambitious game ever attempted and the haters cannot see that this is how the gaming industry becomes better. Pressure from games like CIG force others to up their game, pun intended. CIG is a groundbreaking company and will change the gaming industry forever once the game is finished imo.

3.23 isn't a big patch for the average gamer, this level of QoL features are expected in any AAA game. 4.0 will also be a major milestone only for people closely following SC and most of the features added will likely be buggy and need further refinement judging by the SM tests. Only SQ42 will have the level of polish that can be presented to the masses so CIG will have to make do with whatever they can scrounge up from us until then.

I don't think people understand how absurdly expensive MMO development is compared to other genres, and that they have also been developing a single player campaign alongside this. CIG has acted in very scummy ways before (locking dev news behind paywalls comes to mind) but to say that SC is a scam for the sole purpose of taking money is greatly misinformed. Development has taken this long because they are quite stubborn in not compromising on the vision which requires very complex new tech behind the scenes to function (e.g. dynamic server meshing).

It’s kinda like what world of Warcraft does where they have multiple servers in charge of different game aspects. The big difference is that with dynamic server meshing the servers can pool hardware resources together on the go, it’s not just different servers each separately doing something. So hopefully that means way more performance for players. I think it will also boost the player cap too

One thing I almost forgot about, and many people who look at SC now, or ignored development for a while, wheren't around for, or don't remember, was the 2017-2019 Crytec lawsuits.
For background information, from 2012 at the beginning, CIG signed an argeement to develop SC using the Crytec Engine, so long as the Crytec engine remained supported. In 2016, the studio that created and supported Crytec moved to instead use Unreal Engine, and basically the Crytec engine became abandoned save for a few bugfixes.
CIG, unable to properly continue SC development on the Crytec Engine that was quickly becoming too underpowered to do what they needed, instead started developing on Amazon's Lumberyard Engine.
Crytec's new owners, EPIC Games, proceeded to sue CIG for moving to another Engine. CIG won the lawsuit because they where able to show Crytec was no longer being properly supported. But that took a few years, now everything is being developed in Lumberyard since 2019, and all the fun it brings of developing in a new engine from an old one.

I only had glitchy bugs (fell on the planet, glitch through the ship elevator & walls) when i play during first weeks but after consistently playing this game never had ecounter a bug. I’m always safe. It’s my skill issue who makes me crash and explode my ship everytime.

It's so bad I swore off the game 2 years ago, playability has always been near zero. If they ever actually release the game I'll check it out again, until then I'm just assuming I got scammed by pledging.

I feel like end game they should do another system that's fully aggressive making each planet a (raid) get a group and do a full planet assault. Each
    Planet could be different difficulties
Massive Space fights, Spacestation take over, Anti air, tank warfare.
Full out invasion once a month or something.
    Thoughts?

I almost nose sprayed out my drink when I heard endgame content. You have to have a beginning and middle game first. We're still polishing core mechanics. the existing contracts are serving part of that purpose.

yuuuppp, this is just a push to get more people to buy ships.. they need to f right off and finish the game. Chris roberts doesnt need another 4 car garage.

Cool tech demo. Someone should make a game with all those entirely separate assets and systems that someone ham fisted together for trailers for the last 15 years.

Not yet...we'll see how it goes after 4.0 and meshing has had some time to stabilize as MOST (not all) of the issues you encounter in SC come from the servers, if that is smoothed out or eliminated that's a hell of a lot more playable experience

Bought a starter ship, learned some basics with the short tutorial, went to pick up a package, and was gunned down because I was trespassing and bad at ship combat. I was still in orbit when they deemed me a criminal. The quantum drive wasn’t working great and I was trying to fly around part of the planet.

Another problem CIG has is advertising.

I disagree. Before CIG nails down server tech and releases another star system, this is nowhere near ready for the masses. I will probably invite my friends to try SC after 4.1 or 4.2 , hoping that until then the devs can polish the next big technological jump that is the 4.0 update.
