    Here's his awesome video, the view from Seat 5L:
    • United's First 787-9 B...
    As of the flight date, this was the only active 787-9 in the United States, which the pilot announces. Thanks to the amazing flight crew and staff, you supplied us with an awesome experience! It sure was a nice smooth ride up at FL430! United Airlines' Boeing 787-9 seats 252 passengers with a cabin configuration that features 48 flat bed BusinessFirst seats, 88 Economy Plus seats, and 116 Economy Class seats. This aircraft's first flight was on July 11, 2014 & delivered to United on September 16, 2014
    This video is dedicated to my friend, John Stegemoller, who has the unique honor of flying these amazing aircraft.

    General Electric did an amazing job with building their engines. The 747-8i and 787 are so similar, it's crazy. Genx is my favorite by far.

    If you try to notice, the overhead panel is modeled after the 777-200 or 300 it doesn't matter, all the buttons are in the same place it just looks different

    Nice flight, and I'm very impressed by the altitude -- I virtually never spot a commercial airliner flying this high (43,000 feet).
    Thank you for sharing!

      @RyanBomar  9 лет назад

      Thanks so much for checking it out! The crew had filed for 390, which we cruised at for about 14 minutes, but due to more favorable winds or for whatever reason, we bumped on up to 430.

      RyanBomar That's kind of PITA for the pilots because one of us has to have the O2 mask on the entire time at that altitude, so we rarely go up that high. The service ceiling for the 787 is 43100'. That is determined by how quickly we can get from altitude down to 14,000" were lungs tend to work better in the case of a depressurization . The aircraft can fly higher than that but it would not be able to get down to 14,000 in the prescribed time.

    It's always fun to watch these vids and contrast airports. LAX is just so impressive humming with a mulititude of carriers traversing the tarmac, while a backwater airport like IAH looks so deserted.

    Thanks for posting this! This August I get to fly on a 787 (NRT-HEL with Japan Airlines) for the first time this August. It's something I'm quite excited about. It'll definitely be an improvement on the A340's I've gotten used to (not that they're bad planes, but lacking in comfort compared to newer models).

      Thanks so much for watching, bro! When the familiarization flights were occurring, I simply had to jump on it. The low ticket cost, simple same-day return trip and all, every sign pointed straight to 'yes'. I'm so glad I did it, I wasn't sure how much subscribers would appreciate it, as opposed to my classic content, which is usually what's preferred on my channel, but I'm simply blown away by the response.

It's totally non-commercial - just for fun - and I have no idea if it will get any views. But it was fun making it. Very nice video! I think it goes well with the ambient track and I hope I did not offend you. ;) Cheers from Holland! Paul.

      RyanBomar Hey, you make'em, I'll watch'em! Hopefully the C-Series makes it to launch customers in the coming years, its still in testing and certification. Its a beautiful ship, pretty advanced design. I hadn't had the chance to see a full interior, "demonstrator" plane, just experimental ships. The big geared-fan Pratts sound wonderful being throttled, they make a very whale-like howling sound! Flying overhead they are the quietest jet I've ever heard! Theres some really good pics in google images and including the flight deck mock-up and interior.

    Nice video. Flew the 787-8 LHR-DXB-BWN-MEL with RBA and back in July and it was great. Not sure about those windows - nice to be able to see out even at full shade, but when the sun is on them it's like sitting next to a radiator. I think the extra cabin pressure makes a difference though - although I was tired, I didn't have that drained/wrung out feeling I normally have after such a long journey. The mood lighting might make a difference if the cabin crew had a clue what they were doing with it - which they clearly didn't (on this aircraft or any other I've flown inc. A380/777 etc.) It's comical to watch - the sequence starts off Ok, then it's as though they can't be bothered to wait for it to finish, so you get a rainbow of colours in short succession then they go to max dim or max brighness, turning any effort on the part of the designers into a pointless, hilarious waste of money. In this vid the spoilers seem to be partially deployed (23:35)- can anyone knowledgeable why they would be used at this height and speed - beginning of descent?

      It's taken me a while to adapt from the "steam gauge" days of aircraft like the DC-9 & 727, for example...yes...I'm old, haha. Those have always been the 'real' cockpits to me. Although, I must say, aircraft like this have sort of helped shift my view on it a bit. Especially with use of the HUD, which comes in so handy on approaches with horrible weather. This aircraft is the future, and I must say, it's impressive.

    • @Opticillusion160
      @Opticillusion160 9 лет назад

      RyanBomar Only issue with steam gauges is that they were ugly as sin. Granted, it was nice knowing that the displays were always there no matter what. With the high tech displays some things like important EICAS, ND, and FMS information are often hidden unless you hit a soft key to see that display. Guess it makes it less crammed and visually appealing.

      BlakeOneOne82, this was basically a crew familiarization run that occurred when UAL first received their 789's. Due to the cheap ticket price and short route, I had to jump on it. Thanks so much for watching, and I know you'll kick some ass in your career.

    Awesome video! Talk about massive engines! I wonder how comfortable economy class is on this plane?

      Thanks for watching & for the comment! I had a friend in coach, he said that the comfort level wasn't any different than flying on a 767, for example, so they're pretty standard seats. As far as BusinessFirst goes, all I can say is wow! After breakfast and what seems like a dozen...I mean a few Bailey's :) I reclined to the flat-bed position and knocked out until descent. Keep in mind, this is coming from a guy that can't sleep on flights.

    When the engine starts does it vibrate the plane like the 777-300ER's do? Whenever I take EVA air's 777-300ER to and from Los Angeles, my brain gets numb from the powerful GE engines starting.

    10:11 i thought the tail wing of the 737 was the winglet of the 787. I was really confused lol

    God, I love p60.
    As for the 787s, best airliner in the world. Along with the A380s, of course.

      This aircraft is well worth the cost of the ticket, trust me, but as I have said to others, she will be around for many years to enjoy. No rush. When you end up doing your flight, which you totally should in the future, link me to it or send me the pics or video on Facebook.

      RyanBomar That will be many years in the future. My house is the money pit and the wife's travel plans may not accommodate a 787 route. Some day though...
