I keep coming back to this video, love the home, it was a shame it burned down I watched the complete series building it before. It would be nice to build this home in Alaska. Heating it is another subject.

You did a good job with the camera. Normally my inner ear will not allow me to watch hand held footage but you pan nice and gently so thank you. What a house! So I'm guessing that there is an air space between the foam and the sheathing that you ventilate? Wondering the R value on the roof with that foam which is I'm assuming some kind of open cell urethane? My father was in the construction business and my brother was a carpenter but that was all many years ago. I find it so fascinating how the industry innovates and constantly improves in quality of materials and methods to build faster. I love to watch TOH and other home remodeling shows, I learn so much. It was always my dream to build a cabin but a series of back injuries and my age have made that just a dream. I have to live vicariously through folks like you! I wonder if you might have time to be a little more technical in telling us what's going on and how things work. I'm pretty sure that most of your viewers would be technically minded and love that kind of information. I just finished the 3 episodes and will continue to watch your channel. I'm hoping to find something on how the logs are prefabricated on your channel, I haven't fully explored the channel yet but thank you for such a nice and entertaining video, may God bless and keep you and your crew and family safe and happy.

What are the black streaks on the logs? If mold, now would be the time for the Clorox spray. A house wash now should eliminate it if it is mold.

Does another contractor complete the inside of the building, then another to finish off the outside area? Would love to see it when it's completed..
Hi Valerie, they are planning on finishing it themselves for the most part.
Looks like the way your roof system is constructed the same as ours was except we used fiberglass because foam had not been mainstreamed yet in the 80s and 90s. (I was a log builder in Ely, MN then).

Awesome work! Can you comment on how the roof is vented? I assume it's vented since there was an air gap between the spray foam and the roof OSB.
Yes we drill 3 inch vent holes and install vents all underneath the eaves. And then vent the ridge cap.
So do you guys not put harnesses for a reason? I only say that it's because my uncle fell off a building and broke his back. I didn't know if there was a reason why you didn't do that on your job sites
We use harnesses on certain occasions when we need them.
Beautiful? Your spray foam leaves what looks like a large gap up to the osb, isn’t that only about 4-6” of spray , what R value do you end up with?
R 38 minimum
Does the cold temperatures affect the spray foam any? Maybe it was my eyes but it didn’t appear to be expanding as much as it does in above freezing temperatures.

We use larch and lodgepole pine primarily

A total cost ready to move in would be somewhere in the neighborhood of $1 million give or take depends on how you finish them out or if you do any work yourself.

Not that I know of. But I think they would hold up very well!

This house might cost about 1 million when it is completely finished. He is doing a lot of the work himself so he will be saving a lot of money. I think there are several bedrooms in the basement and one on the main floor. Thanks for watching!
Can someone explain to me how one can say that this is done, when the outside of the basement area sure doesn't look done to me. The wording on whatever material was used is obvious. Surely it is not going to stay that way. Also. Done to me means ready to move in furniture, etc.. I guess I don't understand this type of construction.
Yes, I should have explained better! Done to us means the completion of our contract. Yes there is a lot more that the homeowner will finish himself! Thanks for watching!

We mostly build with butt and pass corners.

I fly a DJI Mini 2.
It is Justin and Ethan‘s drone so I am not quite sure but I do know it is a DJI mini.
