He needs to further up the pitch at cam. He’s great ball carrier, dribbler and offensive minded player. He doesn’t have the attributes for a box2box/CM/DM.
You must be crazy man. The moment he came in vs Newcastle, they created nothing. He keeps the ball for your midfield - an incredible and rare attribute for a modern 6 and 8. It’s the reason De Jong, Zubimendi are valuable - it’s an incredibly valuable attribute in the modern sport.
@@FountainOfYoot Do you even understand what he meant by a Box to box midfielder?? He lacks the recovery pace to do that which is very evident. He already outlined Mainoo's greatest strengths which will make him a perfect fit for a Central Attacking Midfield role in the long run but definitely not a box to box midfielder.
@@chibuzornelson525 first of all the worlds greatest box to box midfielder is KDB. Do you want to hear about his “recovery pace”? 😂😂 Secondly if your biggest issue with Kobbie is “recovery pace” then we have two different desires for our clubs. I want to have a dominant front foot team. One where Kobbies “recovery pace” isn’t an issue for the most part. Where his positioning allows him to not have to have pace - just like Michael Carrick under Fergie. Best DM we’ve ever had. Our version of Busquets. If I had to pick, I’m picking brains over pace all day and twice on Sundays. As much as I HALF agree that he should be further up the pitch, he’s also not direct. He holds onto the ball. I want my CAMs to be Amad levels of direct, not dribbling too much. Mainoo’s greatest ability is being press resistant. That’s a modern DMs biggest asset if they have that.
@@FountainOfYoot Then it's the desires that differ not the negation of the fact that he's not a box to box midfielder which is a major limitation for our midfield. You can see how effective the likes of Macallister and Szoboslai with Gravenbach taking the DM role this season in the Liverpool squad, also Tonali/Joelinton/Guimarez at Newcastle and the role Maresca is trying to fill Enzo into. Now, that's the major limitation in our team as there's no one playing that box to box role and that's why we keep on struggling in spite of the supposed balance and control Mainoo brings. Box to box midfielders are basically the definition of an end to end position. Their home is central midfield; however, they're required to take responsibility for a variety of tasks, both defensive and offensive. They drop back to help out in defensive situations, intercepting, tackling, and blocking the ball, and as soon they win it, they're expected to progress the ball forwards and mount attacks. Now Mainoo might not have the biggest qualities from the defensive side, but how effective is his offensive game?? In the long-term, he'll definitely improve on those areas. But for now, we're still short of that in our midfield. It's no surprise we always lose the midfield battles in most games.
@ we’ve been struggling because UGARTE was either being used wrong, wasn’t match fit or was injured. He comes back and him with Mainoo makes us dominate the the midfielders you used as an example of how we should be? 😅 Also your last sentence is incredibly disingenuous. Mainoo’s strength is ball control. It’s not to replicate the qualities of your favorite midfielder - that’s a subjective issue. If he wasn’t good enough, Manchester United would be looking for a Mainoo replacement, as they are a LWB, RWB, cover CB, Starting ST. This is simply an issue YOU have with a 20 year old for not being exactly perfect CM right this minute. Thankfully my club is managed by Amorim.
@@victorymurangiri5164 He's right, he's a very good player and will even improve knowing fully well he's coming back from injury but he actually lacks the pace for recovery
You just don’t know what you talking about, many great midfielders were not lighting quick and just seems nonchalant when playing! Was carrick or pirlo quicker than him? The answer is no. He will learn better positioning with time and experience which will help compensate the fact that he is not the quickest! But it will come with time remember he is 19!
