I don’t care what anybody says Donnie Yen is one of the greatest martial artists on film ever.
Absolutely. Most people didn't even know who he was before ip man. And it's very common that people think his name is ip Man. The real fans knew about him way before that movie
His work in iron monkey was phenomenal the kicking stance scene was as good as anything Jet has ever done. Both excellent.
And off film. Even Jet Li and Jackie Chan has acknowledged Donnie as the best East Asian martial artist actor in terms of practicality as well.

Donnie Yen is definitely one of the best martial artists on film. Jackie was known for action comedy, Donnie is just amazing at lighting fast hardcore fight scenes.
This movie got some of the best fight choreography ever. How they catches him using stance etc. Was just awesome.

Kara Hui also is a godess of martial arts and even grown older in this film and with much more wrath or negative energy in her expression than in "Yim Wing Chun" she is still a beauty.

Right, she won best actress in the 1st Hong Kong Awards, for the 1981 martial art comedy, 'My Young Auntie'.
But in this case she is very tragic figure of a relative. Maybe a sister of Tang Lung. And the little boy at the beginning of the scene is frightened and surprised at the same time to get to know his "auntie" this way.

Kara Hui in her younger years learnt aspects of martial arts under Donnie Yen's mother.
Before the legendary Michelle Yeoh, there was (and still is) the phenomenal Kara Hui.
And both of them are linked to Wing Chun in their films. Donnie Yen in the Ip Man- collection and Kara Hui (as if I had foreseen it) as Ng Mui in the movie Yim Wing Chun (2010). ❤❤

Wu Xia (2011) is definitely one of Donnie Yen's top movies, but for me Flash Point (2007) is the best. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion though, cheers.

Jackie Chan did learn martial arts together with Sammo Hung but only during his earlier years, he's more of a stunt actor after the 90s. Jet Li, Sammo Hung, Donnie Yen, Biu Yuen and Gordon Liu are Wushu practitioners since childhood.

Hung Gar is an appropriate style for this movie. It is a style meant to train revolutionaries to fight against the Imperial forces, and there are hand signs that are integrated into the techniques so that practitioners of the style can recognize each other while in hiding.
So when Tang Long displayed the Hung Gar hand signs, its essentially him revealing his identity and recognizing who he really is.
I wonder if anyone realized that he's named after Bruce Lee's character in Return of the Dragon.
