Face ID has a learning curve. Initially, it requires you to look at the screen straight on, but eventually it unlocks as you reach for it. One thing it is not able to do is unlock when you’ve left the screen in landscape mode. I remember when I first got my 12 Pro that it was not doing Face ID outdoors. I would have to duck indoors to get Face ID to work.
So far for first impressions (I came from an iPhone 7 so take this with a grain of salt) the screen looks amazing, so far the battery charges fast and doesn’t drain very fast, perfect size for me, and it’s shape is very comfortable

Great tips. I migrated from the 6S, so this new phone was initially steep. My hobby horse is lanyards. When I got the 6S in 2015 I couldn't figure out how to carry it. I immediately put it in a LifeProof case so I could carry it while sea kayaking. I ended up hot gluing a couple of string loops to the back bottom of the case and then tied these on a piece of parachute cord as a lanyard around my neck. Worked great; my students, couldn't wait to let me know how stupid it looked. Fully 1/3rd of their phones had cracked screens at any one time. "I climbed mountains all over Japan with my phone hanging from my neck - no problem." For the new iPhone 12 pro max, I wanted to upgrade. In 2015/16 there were no lanyards for smart phones (except the waterproof baggies. Not one of the cases at the Apple store even had an attachment point.) Now there are lanyards but it seems they're where I was at the beginning of figuring this out five years ago. This time: 1/4" webbing. Sewn loops at the bottom, small cheap (Not the better quality) carabiners. These clip on to webbing oops extending from the back/bottom of the case (Survivor) . Roughed up areas on the back of the case. I used 5200 glue, but hot glue worked for the last one. I hang the strap over the left side of my neck, down my back so it hangs off my right side by my hip. It's always at hand, never in the way, and it can't fall out of a pocket. Near the top of the strap I sewed a loop (at my sternum) that I attached another carabiner to. On the back of the case I left one of the glued straps a bit high in the middle (balance) of the case. It has a carabiner attached to it. Now when I want to automatically record video (a crooked car rental place, crimes, etc...) I can quickly turn on my camera, then attach the two carabiners together and I've got a body cam. By not holding it up it's less conspicuous. Hope this is at least interesting. I don't think it's all that unique, except no one seems to be doing it. Happy to share any of this with anyone who is interested.

The only thing I noticed that seems pretty odd to me is that high lights seems be clipped much more with DV on. Just got a blue iPhone 12 used 2 days ago (January 19th 2023) 89% capacity and I’m really liking it a lot. Great video, and thanks for the tips.
My favourite part was when he said “The next thing you guys should do...”
Thanks for the video! Former google pixel owner that switched to Purple iPhone 12 mini! I am loving it!
why do you not recommend minimising/closing apps?
my guess is that if app auto refresh is not enabled then keeping them in the back saves more battery than closing and opening them all the time. but its just my guess.
Great tutorial. Upgraded from 7 to 12, don’t judge me! It’s a beautiful navy blue. Thanks for this video, now I’m going to watch your battery video!
Brandon, you talked about photo storage, once photos are on Icloud, can we delete them from the phone then? I have plenty of storage as I got 256 GB phone. Thanks
No, once you take them off the phone after a month they are gone forever.
Been an Android fan for years, but I've always cared more about the hardware features than what software I'm using. 🤷♂️
Well, Samsung removed all the features that kept me on their system, so here I am.
Apple 12 Pro in Graphite.
This video has been a huge help for me to dive in. Thank you!
After watching your video, I feel like I’ve run a marathon! Watch, look at phone, rewind video, rewatch, find on my phone, stop video, change my setting, rewind, Did I do it right?, watch again, move on.
Just got my black iPhone 12 mini.... loving it so far. Thanks for the great tips!

First time iPhone user here. Thanks for the videos that you post they have helped me a lot and I have been able to help my wife with her iPhone. We are long time Samsung users and with your video I have maneuvered through setting up both phone and been able to make some changes to settings. Thanks again for the videos.
Great video! So many good tips and things to do don’t have an iPhone 12 LOL have an iPhone X
Me too
I have the 12 and I updated from the 7 plus and the service is crazy I get at least 2 bar where I used to get no service on my iPhone 7 Plus . Also I LOVE the squared edges.
Wowwww 😂 all these new apple features ive had on android for years✌️😝
But not the privacy...
Truth I use both and iPhone Is using lots of android features these days. The iPhone is still terrible at actually making phone calls though.
Yup I just switched to iPhone and iam like… I almost feel like it’s a major downgrade and like iam using a first generation phone. I expected so much more considering their popularity!!!
Damn! Feeling the same way too. This unit is coming soon but I just can't let go of my Android phone.
Just upgraded from a 7 plus to a 12 and I’m IN LOVE 😭🥰 best decision ever.

Im having an upgrade from iphone6+ to Iphone12 because I work hard and Im a independent person, buying the iphone with my own income! I deserve it. This is really helpful.
In face Id just put attention aware features so you’re phone doesn’t dim

Watching this even though I still have my iPhone 11 Pro at 3:35AM 😭
Wow that's rough! Hope you are able to make it!
That must be so hard for you, really puts other peoples problems into perspective
RUclips really should show the dislike count for this kind of comments
Came from an iPhone 5s had it for 6 years and omg the iPhone 12 is insane hugely recommend.

Wait why did you recommend not closing out of our apps? I always thought it was better to close them out 😱😅
Because the custom chip is intelligent enough to manage the battery while they're in the background, you usually waste more battery re-opening apps as that takes power
Hi, about Dolby Vision, I tried to shoot the same clip with DV on first and then with DV off and I have to say that of course the overall image quality and colors are much better with DV on. The only thing I noticed that seems pretty odd to me is that high lights seems be clipped much more with DV on. For example, I shoot from the inside my room and outside the windows everything is white (clipped). Then, the same video with DV off has some details outside. I'm not watching the videos on computers or TV but just by my phone12. Do you know why is that?
Moved from Android to iOS after 10 years. They finally managed to piss me off enough to make the move. This video has been extremely helpfull, thanks!
I got the 12 and was like wtf how do I use this lmao
Do you think 12 or 12pro is better?
@@shanjohn970 12 pro max is better dude. I just got mine 3 days ago. It has the best battery life
@@shanjohn970 I got the gold one

Wow. Clear and detailed. From iPhone 6S to 12 this video was very helpful. Shared and saved it for refresher in case I forget...thanks.
“Hey guys so by now you probably have already unboxed your iPhone 12”
Guess I can’t subscribe I didn’t know you had to be rich to be apart of his audience 😞
But this video is meant for people with the iPhone 12. Why are you here if you don’t have the iPhone 12.
@@randompersondfgb because we're poor and can only dream at having the chance to obtain, neigh, reach the pure excellence and superiority of the iPhone 12 Pro Max at it's 1200 dollar price point. MINT
@@blakeslocum2732 iPhone 12 is $799. I got $700 off through AT&T plus I’ve been saving money for 3 years. I’ve only had it for 1 day so I’ll update you on how I feel. Before this I had an android so this is very confusing for me lol.
i purchased the 12 pro online last night. this will be my first apple product. i always used samsung before.
I was a AT&T for 3 hours switching from android😂
Yikes! What took so long lol
Dang I was only there for an hour and a half and that was with computer problems and everything lol
