Every time I see this performance, I wish Cohen could have witnessed this. Aurora totally absorbed Cohen's intent.

I can feel the bitterness, not hate, the loneliness, not desperation, the resign, not blame, in this interpretation of this poetic song from one of the greatest story tellers of our time. It´s a very subtle, delicate story of adultery and its destructive consequences and I think Aurora did a great job delivering the message here.

You're right...all these feelings are nuances...and that's make this text such a complex one, eventhough the topic is not that original. But the way he dealt with it is so....special... even the fact that it's a letter add another layer to the way one can receive his words... thanks.

I like that you used the word "magic." I do think she creates magic with her voice and the way she performs and delivers the story or the message. It is so captivating. Hard to believe anyone else could do justice to this tribute any better. 🫶

Yea. It was beautiful and emotional. And of course original version is also great and Aurora listened (it was often present in her home when she was child) and really appreciate Leonard. And she has the same effect on me. She alway take my whole attention and I am totaly concentrate on her performance, voice, expressions and emotions. It looks she just feel music.
Also great reaction with very interesting comments and your thoughts.

Thank you. I agree completely that this is a very complex song by the master poet that was Leonard Cohen. He is such an integral part of my playlist; to watch and hear Aurora cover this song is indeed magical.

Bon Dimanche.

Yes, this is a lovely cover of his song. She grew up listening to his music, she is a big fan and was asked to perform at this tribute concert, of course she said yes. Thank you for this reaction, see you on the next Aurora reaction.

Thank you for your reaction video of Aurora performing Cohen's 'Famous Blue Raincoat'. A storyteller interpreting another storyteller's beautiful lyrics in a pure transcendent way. Aurora's love of Cohen's songs shows through so clearly. My eyes well up every time I listen to this. Michael, more Aurora reactions please.
I just remembered that there is a RUclips fan video upload of Aurora performing another of Cohen's songs ... during a concert tour stop in Chicago only a few days after his passing, almost six months before the performance that you've reacted to. The title search is: AURORA - So Long Marianne - Chicago 11/11/16

Aurora also recorded a studio version of "Leonard Cohen - The Partisan" in 2017 for a museum exhibition "Leonard Cohen: A Crack in Everything" at the MAC museum in Montréal, Canada. 17 other artists contributed to the exhibition as well.
The cover was never officially released, only an audio recording done by someone visiting the museum was available, until 4 months ago when the actual studio version was found from the virtual exhibition on the museums site: youtu . be / 0mWymckT_2U (audio only)

It is important to know that this is a tribute concert to Leonard Cohen, given shortly after his departure from this world, where several artists have succeeded, accompanied by the same musicians. This is therefore, purely and simply, a tribute, without any real search for originality that could possibly turn out to be "out of place" (I guess). Leonard Cohen has been, along with Bob Dylan, one of Aurora's writing influences from the start.
Personally, I'm still waiting to be disappointed with a live performance from her. I guess there might be times when her voice might be more tired, on tour or after the tour. But her ability to convey all of the song's emotions sounds always great, anyway.
Interesting, and nice, reaction to this little giant.🙂👍

This cover is so delicate, with so much respect and such a grown up song for a young lady like Aurora i those days, I always liked Cohen and this song is specially dear, when he sings it is quite impressive, you know, his voice gives that feeling and now comes Aurora and she simply makes it her own, again, my question, how can anyone be so good.
Aurora is a wise old soul inside this beautiful and tiny young woman......she's absolutely one of the kind.......we're lucky she's around for us

Thanks. I guess she has the ability to really connect with her emotions, and to convey them in a very honest way. And she has the talent to do so, of course, vocally and musically speaking, but just like the most famous singers, she has this really unique way to reach her audience and "talk" to them... mesmerizing...

Do you know how long time they used to make and rehearse this? I do! 🙂 Read on:
This is from the tribute concert in Oslo Spektrum, 25 april 2017 (Cohen died 07 november 2016).
There was a lot of artist making their tribute. It is not her band. It was "The Salmon Smokers" that was doing the concert, with guest vocalists like Aurora. 23 songs was preformed... The band rehearsed all the songs long time before, and had 30-45 minutes with every artist rehearsing so the artist could "make" the artists version of it... Not possible to go VERY far from the original then....
Why do I know this? Because the drummer Eivind and I come from the same town, and I sent him a message about it because I was curies about how they did it :-) "Aurora gives EVERYTHING both in the rehearsal and at the concert" he also said...
When Cohen died, Aurora was in the USA. When she heard about it she change her concert in Chicago to include "So Long Marianne", and I think her face say it all in that performance. It was done 11 november, only 4 days after his death. (Link below).
Marianne actually was Norwegian, so you have a Norwegian lady singing Cohen's song about a Norwegian lady :-)
    ruclips.net/video/i4CgyVMJiEk/видео.html
I had the greate privilege to be at a concert a few month ago where Eivind (drummer) and Freddy Holm (strings in this video) played in a local band.
Freddy are fantastic on everyting with a string on.... Both he and Eivind has to be on the top in Norway in their "categories".

Absolutely beautiful . Can i just make you aware that in Aurora's Exist For Love i noticed that a couple of lines were familiar to me , being a Cohen fan . The first line - There is a war between the man and the woman , comes from one of his tracks "There is war" and from the last verse of Suzanne " leaning out for love and leaning for love forever" . I may not be exact with the lines but pretty close . I wonder if there are any more examples of this. Her father listened to Cohen a lot apparently.
