Perfect description of watching and hearing Aurora sing: "I don't know. I'm so happy". We all know exactly what you mean! There really are no adequate words. Her energy goes too deep for words, really.

"Aurora is from the past, the present and the future." Very well said!
The reason why she grabs you so much is that she's so into the performance herself, that it makes you want to be there with her. If someone was seeing this for the first time and didn't know it was a cover, they'd never guess it was not Aurora's song, because she lives and breathes her covers just as much as her own songs.
And then at the end, she comes back to earth with the rest of us, like it was no big deal. What a gift.

This was a tribute concert to Cohen in Oslo Norway on April 25th 2017 about 5.5 months after Cohen died on Nov 7th 2016. It was a tribute concert featuring many different artists, Aurora only performed this one song.
When Cohen died Aurora was on a US tour, and just 4 days later on Nov 11th 2016, she paid tribute to him by singing his song "So Long Marianne" in her Chicago concert. Here is a phone recording of the song, it is decent quality, here is the watch code only: i4CgyVMJiEk
Aurora also paid tribute to Cohen in her song "Exist For Love" in 2020: The line "A war between the man and the woman" is from his song "There Is A War", and the line "They are leaning out for love and they will lean that way forever" is from his song "Suzanne".

this was when I first discovered Aurora, I saw the tribute concert on tv, as a cohen fan myself......many artists and different Cohen songs, rather average... Towards the end of the concert, this little beautiful creature comes on stage and does this version, i was completly mesmerized.... had to check her out, and I have done so ever since.... remarkable artist!

I'v followed her from the beginning and what a journey it have been. As a friend of her friend I have seen magic unfold. We speak every week and I can not imagine a life without this artist, writer, poet, singer, human. I love her. (My wife smacks me in the back of my head "don't get cheesy now" lol) Love from Norway.

This for me is why Aurora is more than special, every time she becomes the essence of what the art form of music should be all about, every time she performs you immediately see her love of music and how her whole being becomes a vessel to channel her innermost thoughts into the performance,as soon as the first note starts she takes herself into a different place and know matter what she is performing you are right there with her seeing the very essence of what she is seeing, seriously as a live performer she is head and shoulders above everyone for me she’s a Genius and I’m blessed to have her music in my life ❤️

She takes a song, another artist's song , and she makes it hers so respectfully so personally. Take this Cohen song, a poet of our times and a very good one indeed, and this song, a grown up song to me, one of his best (even more than Aleluya, my personal opinion) and Aurora a very young girl at the time takes the song and she takes you yo the story that's being narrated and you can even visualise it without even closing your eyes it's like daydreaming......that is something to say. Aurora is unique and we are so fortunate
Aurora is incredible and so insanely cute OMG

If you haven't already, I really think you two would love reacting to an early charity concert she did called the "SOS Ole Bull" - its a three song set and earlier in her career when she had taken a break from performing and came back. A wonderful event, with Aurora being amazing and quirky.
That, and "Little Boy in The Grass" the Live Mahogany Session is a heartbreaking but amazingly emotional tribute to a horrible mass shooting that occurred in her native country and in which a friend was lost. Just, an absolutely visceral performance if you haven't seen it already.
Lastly, for reaction, I haven't seen many reactors react to the following songs:
Running With The Wolves - Live on German TV - a wonderfully intimate little performance very early in her career.
My Heart is a Storm - Live in Norway, another very early performance but just so very simply aurora.
Dance on The Moon - Live at the Exist for Love Sessions. - Simply beautiful short live song.
Thank you for your continued amazing reactions!

That's right: she went to her singing, like, it’s a totally outer universe, and we can ‘only’ see the terrestrial manifestation... and when she finishes, she comes back to us.
    L. Cohen is a great singer. He's the "Hallelujah" singer.
With always great music (and when there are the fiddlers... wow) and a choir. I only know a few songs from him, and only once he's got his deep base voice.
I didn’t know that one, I mean, until I listened to Aurora's cover.
You know, I think, that Cohen is one of her favourite singers.
I discovered she sang another L. Cohen song: “The Partisan”. It's about WW2 in France. I didn't know that song from him, but when I listened to Aurora's cover, I cried. A part of that song is in French, so you may need L. Cohen's lyrics and translation.
I also cried at the end of that song.

Cohen was a true story teller, that is what she took from him, she deeply loved him, this version is pretty close to the original, cuz both never rush to close the song, they let the feeling grows in you, they both carry you in their world to 'show' you what they describe. Lovely reaction as always, have a nice day too.

With her calm and modest demeanor she fills every room totally with her energy, how big or small. She radiates the musicality within her soul so well. And indeed her style is so unique we can't name what we experience. Looking for words is a waste of time. I just can't do anything else but quote another artist, who had a similar effect on people, but in his very own way, Freddie Mercury: "my soul is painted like the wings of butterflies". These words apply so well.

Do you know how long time they used to make and rehearse this? I do! 🙂 Read on:
This is from the tribute concert in Oslo Spektrum, 25 april 2017 (Cohen died 07 november 2016).
There was a lot of artist making their tribute. It is not her band. It was "The Salmon Smokers" that was doing the concert, with guest vocalists like Aurora. 23 songs was preformed... The band rehearsed all the songs long time before, and had 30-45 minutes with every artist rehearsing so the artist could "make" the artists version of it... Not possible to go VERY far from the original then....
Why do I know this? Because the drummer Eivind and I come from the same town, and I sent him a message about it because I was curies about how they did it :-) "Aurora gives EVERYTHING both in the rehearsal and at the concert" he also said...
When Cohen died, Aurora was in the USA. When she heard about it she change her concert in Chicago to include "So Long Marianne", and I think her face say it all in that performance. It was done 11 november, only 4 days after his death. (Link below).
Marianne actually was Norwegian, so you have a Norwegian lady singing Cohen's song about a Norwegian lady :-)
    ruclips.net/video/i4CgyVMJiEk/видео.html
I had the greate privilege to be at a concert where Eivind (drummer) and Freddy Holm (strings in this video) played in a local band.
Freddy are fantastic on everyting with a string on.... Both he and Eivind has to be on the top in Norway in their "categories".

I am sure it was for Aurora important performance and tribute - as you said his songs were very present in her house and she really liked and appreciated his music. Her covers and performances always have something extra magical which adds to performance and the song.

That was the anniversary of Cohen's death, this concert. Many artists came and sang his songs. Including Aurora with this one. Aurora grew up with his songs and was one of her great role models.
Musically, you should recognize parts of the song (chorus) from the world hit "when i need you". They were stolen from Cohen's song and led to a legal battle that Cohen won.
