THE BEST video on the process !!! Wish i had of seen this before i got to near the end of mine.. Straight forward. NO BS gabbing... Just the facts... half as long as many other videos..
🥰 I have no words to describe how much I love this table! Beautiful workmanship, but what I love most of all is the layout of the wood pieces against the black epoxy - perfect mixture of drama and balance, pure artistry! 🥰 It's very very clear to me that this table was created by talent, skill and emotion. So beautiful!
Really like the video, the olive wood is nice. The video was quiet, not a lot of promotional stuff. That’s nice. I don’t care for the black, that’s just me don’t pay attention to me. Keep on doing what you’re doing. Thank You Sir
When you make your forms, use packing tape to cover the pieces fully before putting it together and putting your materials and epoxy into it. Works much better then mold release.
Wow - that is just so beautiful 🥰💞 Olive wood is one of the most beautiful woods in the world. The black epoxy highlight the wood, all though I may prefer a more transparent color, so all the wood details can be seen. Meaby not for olive wood, as the black epoxy is such a beautiful contrast to the wood. Not sure there 🤔 But man - great work!
@@marmotaworks - well thank you for your reply, man that was fast! 😃 It is all in the eye of the beholder of course . I totally understand your color preference and agree 1oo% with you. The details in the wood - like the table edges and the wood edges for instance, are just beautiful with the black epoxy. Great work!
So during your 1st pour you brushed away all the bubbles from the edges then heated out bubbles ?, then next day you finished your pour no roughing or sanding , I'm trying the same way but using a clear pour. Just a 64yr old beginner trying for the perfect example , Thanks you work is beautiful.
Nice table I'm starting this venture myself I've been doing different things for wee while now done pretty good so far haven't managed get big resin table yet but I'll get there soon. I see u use some the einhell range of tools what do u have and think of them and would u recommend them all. I have the drill and impact driver and table saw and find them pretty good 🏴👍
You can wait until it's fully cured and sand the surface before the second pour, or you can do it after 24 hours, when it's still sticky. This way we will have a good bond too and we will save time.
God your good.question please.why do much black or blue epoxy? I know you use colour but is there a reason in these bigger tables why you don't use clear or tan.x
in deep pours, there is a risk of cracking when hardening, so I prefer to do it in 2 times. the next day the first pour is still sticky and bonds well with the second. If you wait more days until it fully hardens, you would have to sand the first layer to get a good bond with the second.
Not this olive wood. It is not porous at all and the epoxy does not penetrate it. With other not so hard woods I always seal them before pouring black epoxy
I don't know exactly what spots you're referring to, but seeing it in person, there's nothing that completely ruins the table. Thank you for acknowledging the hard work!
Looks like a satellite image. Amazing craftmanship.
Thanks a lot!

Thank you for your advice! Normally I use tape and mold release, but this time I wanted to try just the release... Big mistake. Not do it again.

You can do the second pour while the first one is still tacky to create a better bond.
Wonderful works. Thanks posted.

You should talk and give the play by play in your videos. Great table.

Yes I definitely agree, it helps so many people 🙂
@@catnik1971 Take note. Thanks!
Are these tables more expensive to produce than regular wood tables?
Yes, the epoxy is pretty expensive...
Do we need to wait for the first deep pour epoxy to fully cure and harden before next pour?
You can wait until it's fully cured and sand the surface before the second pour, or you can do it after 24 hours, when it's still sticky. This way we will have a good bond too and we will save time.
Try microwaving the wood a week before, then stand it in some sort of soften dry-air drier...
The wood was dry, no problem.
God your good.question please.why do much black or blue epoxy? I know you use colour but is there a reason in these bigger tables why you don't use clear or tan.x
Thanks! I personally always use black because I believe it contrasts best with wood by far.
How well does these "epoxy tables" hold up under normal use? For what I know about epoxy and wood, both are soft, so it would scratch quite easily.
With good quality epoxy and a hardwood such as olive, these tables are very resistant for normal use (do not cut logs with an ax on them).
@@marmotaworks
OK....it must be some really hard cured epoxy because even quartz (Moh 7) scratches with normal use.
What is a good metallic pigment?
Hello April. EcoPoxy Metallic Pigments are a good option for me.
Why did you do the pours in two day increments?
in deep pours, there is a risk of cracking when hardening, so I prefer to do it in 2 times. the next day the first pour is still sticky and bonds well with the second. If you wait more days until it fully hardens, you would have to sand the first layer to get a good bond with the second.
@@marmotaworks Thanks man!
Mantap,,, 🙏👍❤️
👍
How long did it take you from start to finish?
About 25 hours
👍
😀
Does the black epoxy stain the wood?
Not this olive wood. It is not porous at all and the epoxy does not penetrate it. With other not so hard woods I always seal them before pouring black epoxy
What could be the possible life of an epoxy table??
Epoxy resin tables are extremely durable and will last you a long time if you know how to take care of them
How much did this total build cost
About 250€

can I have your olive wood cutoffs to make knife handles out of them?
I think the shipping costs would be more expensive than the wood... Anyway, I don't have it anymore

There are some spots that looks painted in black (long line) that literally ruin the wonderful job you did.
Thumbs up for the hard job anyway.
