It's really helping me and it's really hard to find such detailed instructions online. Thanks a lot!
You make it all so straightforward. Many thanks!
Love your videos. Just installed the 105 with the help of them!
IF you have the scenario where the cable is frayed inside the shifter, then IME the easiest approach is to loosen the rear brake cable at the brake and remove the brifter from
the bar which allows you to easily remove the rubber hood. Then you will see a small phillips head screw that holds the plastic cover over the inner works of the shifter.
With this removed you can easily maneuver the head of the cable out of its socket after some fiddling with the works. NOTE: this approach is only needed
if the frayed cable prevents the shifter from going onto the smallest cog or on the shifter allows access to the lead head on the cable in the shifter.
If the cable is frayed examine the works in the shifter for any bits of broken cable. FWIW on mine the phillips screw holding the plastic cover in place was loose,
so I put a dab of thread locker on it when I replaced. The extra step of removing the shifter from the bike and the hood makes getting the frayed cable out so
much easier and only adds a little time to the process.
Thank you so much really saved my day
Video was of big help, thanks a bunch!
You're an absolute life-saver, thanks very much for making this video!
Ditto! Probably gained an hour 🎉
Yes that was brilliant mate....no more paying some shop to do it....Ta! ✌️
👍
What if the "head" of the cable inside the shifter is where the cable snapped at? I can't get the old head/end out of the shifter. It probably doesn't matter much, but it might rattle and, even if not, it will bug the heck out of me knowing it is in there.

Does the 7020 use the same plastic internal guide as the 7000. This has worn through on mine and dug a groove in the body so deep that it won't shift now!
R7020 Cable Guide Part No: right Y07X7500 . Left : Y07V75000
Does this also applies to the Shimano 105 r7000 shifter?
