    Outstanding demonstration. Clear, concise, everything I needed to know and nothing I didn't. Followed each step - pause, execute, resume. My replacement cable job went flawlessly. Well done!

    Thank you for creating and sharing this video. My front mech had stopped responding and I found the cable had worn by the BB. I always prefer to fix bikes at home and this was nice and straightforward. The only issue I encountered was getting the cable end out of its wedge shaped slot in the shifter but I worked that out eventually. Next up, re-indexing the rear!

    Thank you so much, as i presume this is the Shimano 105 crankset, because one time I was adjusting the limit screws and I can’t remember but one of the screws get stuck inside and it won’t get out again from the groove, so if you could explain how can we fix this I will be much appreciated, you are a great instructor and I learned from you a lot, thank you!!

    Do you ever lube the FD pivots? The user manual doesn’t mention it but wondering if some lube during the life of product would prevent pivot friction increasing over time?

    Thank you for this useful information. In another one of your videos describing cable installation on a Dura Ace 9100 front derailleur you indicated to use a special partially flattened cable stop at the derailleur cable guide, but I didn't notice that emphasized in this video. Is it necessary?

    A really good channel do lean and do all these basics ... I saved myself a bit following these many vids.
    The front mech was a bit challenging to set to get it to run on the 53 and the big cog at the back without rubbing and getting to be smooth in 11 tooth. So I had to sacrifice to be more smooth on the 11 53 up to around the second last cog at the back from the top ... Thanx for these good vids.
    Any vids on servicing a fork ?

    Thanks so much for this. I’ve just changed cables myself for the first time and the front derailleur is the only thing causing me problems. I wasn’t twisting that screw out far enough it seems.
    Is it necessary to put the limit screws in a certain position if they have been adjusted?

    • @FreeToCycle
      @FreeToCycle  4 года назад +1

      If the limit screws have been setup properly when the derailleur was first fitted then you don't need to touch them! This is a guide to replacing a cable not fitting a new derailleur.

    I changed my large 50T chainring, with a slightly smaller 46T. New chain, almost new cassette. When i shift the chain now falls in between the two chain rings. I verified my inner chainring is on correctly. Any ideas? When i pedal slowly with my hand on the pedal and the chain falls slowly it lands on smaller ring at an angle and doesn't engage the teeth. Thanks for your video. Although my chain always fell nicely from my 50T to the 34T, the shifter sometimes failed and i needed to shift again, much like what you showed, except mine usually just took a 2nd or 3rd attempt. Sometimes it would take 6 times in the winter if it was cold. I found a video that said the ratchet in the shifter sometimes gunks up and needs cleaning. Your problem was quite dramatic in that it absolutely wouldn't shift. Did you find out what the problem was with yours? You said sometimes it's a frayed cable, but your cable looked pristine. I have a tiagra mech (compatible with ultegra 6800, my outer ring looks similar to yours. I will check my shifter then maybe replace my cable. But i'd like to fix the chain getting stuck between the chainrings first. Oh i also moved my front derailler down since the large chainring is 4 teeth smaller (the bottom of the derailler is 3-4mm above the top of the outer ring).
