Perhaps if you have the storage space available, you could box up all your "decluttered' makeup and store it for awhile so it is out of sight, but you could still have access to it in case you regret something
Thats exactly what I do! Using that method I was able to downsize my eyeshadow palette collection from 25+ to 11! I feel like having too many palettes makes me feel overwhelmed personally. I ended up giving many of my palettes to friends and family after a month or two.
Downsizing my collection to only having 2-3 products per category (except eyeshadow and lips) was one of the best decisions I’ve made. I get to cycle through everything I use and use up items before they expire, but I still have plenty of options to attain any makeup look I want. Highly recommend and I love everything in my collection.
I hear you girl! I wish my collection was smaller. The color analysis was revolutionary. I think I've been a makeup hoarder, because I've just been trying so hard to figure out what works with my coloring. Then I hold on to things that don't work because I spent money on them. I try to make products work because I hate the feeling of wasting money. Then I don't want to wear makeup, because I'm so overwhelmed with all my choices. Then I buy more because I'm still not satisfied with what I have. It's a vicious cycle. I've been working on a lip product declutter. Forcing myself to use one each day and really analyze what it does for my look. I think I've already decluttered around 8.
@@ChicGeekMakeup Thank you! I feel like I'm finally making progress in simplifying. Thankfully some of my lipsticks work for me and I've found that by organizing them paired together with a gloss helps me rotate usage and keeps it fun.
We all have phases with makeup 🥰 My collection is way smaller than yours but I'm also into minimising it and trying to use things up. My goal is to have only those item that I really enjoy using. I'm also really into the revolution cream bronzer. It's sooo good. ☺️
Great point about phases of makeup! I have a larger collection bc it took time to figure out what I like. Now I buy a lot less bc I know what I do and don’t like trying to cycle out and use up stuff that is meh. Mixing foundations has helped a lot!!
I don't know that I would want a minimal makeup collection, but I'd like a more curated one. I go through phases where I only want to buy replacement products, but other times I get the itch to try new things (or new shades). I'd feel less stressed about my collection if I had maybe a third of it, but what I have is too used or old to donate. I don't want to throw stuff away unless it's gone bad. The struggle is real! I'd be sad if your collection really was this small, because then you probably wouldn't do as many (or any!) Project Pans. 😟
I would hardly declutter my collection, put the decluttered stuff away for a view month in a box and would revisit and declutter it again later. I'd decluttered my collection an keep around 50-55 Items. I i want something new, an older product has to go. It works perfectly. Greetings from Germany 😊
I was thinking it has been a minute since we’ve seen Basil and Ginger and then we get a puppy break! Any time they want to make an appearance, we’d love to see them! (I loved seeing them in member videos.) I’m very happy with my current collection. I only have 1 or 2 each of what I’ll call the basics - foundation, powder, mascara, eye brown pencil and setting spray. I have about 10 blushes, but no real repeats, so they all get used. I have 30 eye shadow palettes, but I’m constantly rotating through them. (My anxiety kicks in if I feel too limited in my choices or at the thought of doing the same thing over and over. 😂)
Getting rid of makeup is, soo hard and I don't know why! I'm moving in June so I've surveyed my collection twice and literally am struggling to get rid of anything except expired lip products . I feel like I've decluttered to a point where everything I have I love or has sentimental value. Do I use all of it? No. Do I need all of it? No. And that's the problem. It bothers me that I have stuff just sitting there. I, like you, am not doing complex eye looks with 6 different shades and lots of blending. Ive gone back to my early days of a shimmer lid in champagne, taupe, light pink or brown, maybe with a matte crease and highlight. Even harder to get rid of expensive palettes🙃. It was much easier to get rid of clothes, in just 1 hour I have a big heavy bag. I have 2 more months so I think I'll start packing cosmetics early which will force me to hold everything and really see how much I have to transport.
Hello, I habe the same Problem. I habe no issie at all getting rod of clothes I no longer wear for various reasons. i struggle with maleup maybe bc I think „oh well I could just use it up at some point“ but it tales ages to use something up.
I feel you!!! Im not buying anything this year other than like shampoo and conditioner that I ran out of and decluttering as I pan. I’m switching things out and using things I enjoy. I want to get my collection down and only things that I truly love. With out regrets
I’ve had my first palette, my favourite ND Biba, go off on me and although it has good pan in Tusk and deep dips in 2 shimmers and 2 mattes, it feels awful and a horrible waste. I was very ill during the pandemic and didn’t wear makeup for a year and no longer wear full eye make up every day. I have another 5 pan green eye shadow palette from Bobbi Brown that is also past its best. That leaves me with 9 palettes and some singles and cream shadow sticks and I no longer want to buy bright, shiny things and would rather get the most out of what I have so that there are no regret purchases. I recently bought the ND Retro after much thought and now I wish I hadn’t. It’s just another 15 pans where I could have bought a single pan that satisfies my itch for a certain shade. The only purchase I would consider is a new Biba if it came out in the Midi size.
Still trying to downsize my collection and just keep things that work for me. Hardest thing is the eyeshadow palette-bought quite a lot in last 6 months so don’t want to get rid of anything. Have been putting stuff away for about a month to see if I want to reach for it or not. It stresses me out seeing too much makeup out. And also agree my preferences have changed so I go for more basic and natural looks.
You do a lot of projects to test out and pan your products. So I feel like you generally give your products a fair try before you give up on them. When there is something non-powder that is truly on the chopping block, I keep it front and center for about a month. If I don’t enjoy using it, it’s gone. If it’s a seasonal reason I revisit it in the proper season, usually this changes my perception, if not…it’s gone. I have too much great makeup not to enjoy what I am using!

That’s a very good idea!!
That is absolutely how I declutter. I rarely get anything back out. After 60 days I let it go.❌️⭕️

It’s difficult for sure! It is a vicious cycle! Congrats on your success!

I have a massive connection. I enjoy all of it. I couldn't use it all in 20 lifetimes. Enjoy your makeup. Great video. Take care ❌️ ⭕️
Thank you! If you enjoy that’s important! ♥️

Yes definitely going through phases! 💗
I have a good size makeup collection. I enjoy using things up and having something newish to used
Love that!

Very true! I agree more curated than minimal!
I'm with you, I have a sizable collection, but I'd really like to reduce the overall amount of stuff I have. Always time for a puppy break!!! 🥰
Thank you!!♥️

Yes it’s so difficult! Moving is a good time to clean things out!

Eyeshadow palettes are very difficult to declutter!!
It’s so hard to know what a minimal collection is these days! I have
I totally agree!
