Interesting comment on double doors, because in the first release of chapter 1, the door to cyberWorld was a single door, but when chapter 2 came out, was changed to a double door. According to Toby, this is because double doors, it required them not to change any animations
Wait yeah, the new Kris and Susie jumping into a Dark World animation requires the door be wide enough for them to jump through it together, doesn’t it?

3:33 saw this point get made on twitter so ill make it here, but the fact that clock has only 1 hand sprited and it is pointing straight down implies the time is 6:30, but it would be impossible for an analog clock to have both the hour and minute hand directly on top of each other for 6:30. Which gives alot more credit to the clocks having more meaning then shown.
I note that it's also entirely possible for the meta reasoning for the specific positions of the clock hands to simply be 'Toby needed analog clock times and chose some at random' or 'Toby drew something mostly reasonable' or even 'Toby told someone else to draw some analog clocks and they (without specific knowledge of the timeline of events or what Toby hypothetically had in mind) drew some analog clocks with random, unimportant hand positions'. Given that I see no specific need to ascribe importance to the clock hand positions to begin with, I'm dubious of the rest of theory. Yes, some of the clock hands do indeed seem to point to dark fountain locations that we know of, but 2 of the 4 examples (Toriel's classroom's clock pointing up and QC's clock pointing up) are the minute hand pointing at 12. That is, exactly on the hour. It's more than possible in my eyes that the minute hands are pointing to 12 simply because Toby (or whoever drew the clocks) didn't need any more specificity, but still felt they needed to draw the minute hand at *some* position because the clocks would look weird without them. The other 2 examples (Alphys' and Toriel's classroom clocks pointing to the closet) could simply be coincidence. Do note that those 2 clocks are mirror images of each other; it's entirely possible (likely, in my eyes) that the classroom graphics were made for Alphys' classroom and then mirrored for Toriel's, thereby mirroring the clock. In that case, because of the symmetrical design of the school, if one of the two clocks happened to point to the closet, the other one would as well. And from there, 1 clock hand happening to point towards the closet doesn't seem like enough evidence to really base anything off of. In particular, although Alphys' classroom clock pointing towards the extra classroom is very reasonable (I'd argue you don't need this theory to argue for that being a potential dark world location), the process of divining a future dark world location from the other hand of QC's clock seems, well, dubious to me. But still, this particular process seems overly complicated to me. I'd further argue that, like with the unused classroom, you really don't need this theory to suspect a Flower King dark world.
If the clocks supposedly look weird without the minute hand pointing to 12, then why does the unused classroom clock have it overlapping with the hour hand at 6? Some notes on the video: Your idea that the clocks all point to dark worlds actually makes a lot of sense. The only issue I really take with it is as follows: In smaller communities, especially gated towns with a limited population, they often tend to educate children in larger grade ranges. To me, it seems like the unused classroom was formerly a pre-school type of environment, given the crayons, the checkerboard that has pieces all over the place (including mixed chess pieces), and the stuffed plush toy (Seam). If that is proven to be the case, then it's more likely that the art came majorly from there, by the kids who are currently in Toriel's class, which seems to be a group fully comprised of elementary school children (I think this is called primary school to those who aren't in the United States?), and if that's the case, then that also means that Alphys likely teaches all of middle school (secondary outside of the US, I think). This could also potentially explain why Susie seems physically a bit more over developed, since she could potentially be as old as 16 and just still held back for poor grades. I don't recall if Toby ever outright confirmed her age. This, when put all together, implies that the last classroom is likely for highschool (tertiary outside of the US, I think). If that last classroom is, in fact, the high school room, I could definitely see it being a later dark world - potentially even Chapter 7 - if only because it'd likely be difficult for Kris to enter the room, knowing that Asriel had been in that room a lot before he left for college.
aren't all the children we see in the class in high school? Also Susie being older makes her being the harem protag much worse (though also kinda makes sense)
@@zixvirzjghamn737 Kris is probably about 13, and students like Temmie and Berdly are clearly less socially mature than him, implying that, at the very least, they are younger. You potentially _can_ be 14 or younger in high school, but you can also only enter the 9th grade by the time you're 15, as well as only graduating after you've been 18 for some time, even _without_ being held back a single year. My estimation that she's likely both socially and mentally underdeveloped and it resulted in her being held back for two years makes it likely that she would have been 19 when she graduated if she had done so when intended, but would end up graduating at 21 due to being held back twice. (Also, this implies that she'll be 17 before she ever gets out of middle school, which would make any romantic moments between her and Noelle be legally gray, if not outright black in some areas of the world, if it turns out to be true, so I could very much see this not being the case, or perhaps that Noelle chose to hinder her own progress in favor of staying back at least one year to make things less awkward.)
Hello, my name is Jaru, and today, I will be eating, this delicious steak. A steak is a type of meat, usually from a cow, that has been cooked and may be seasoned with a variety of spices or a sauce - most typically, a special sauce known as a steak sauce. Today, my steak has been seasoned with several herbs, including rosemary and thyme, along with salt and pepper. The nutritional benefits of consuming this steak are dubious, but I have also prepared a fresh salad and some mashed potatoes on the side to add more balance. Now, without further ado, let's dive right in. Mmmm mmm! This steak smells delicious! I can feel my mouth watering already. This owes in part to the delicious assortment of herbs that serve as a sort of seasoning. Even without these, however, the natural juices of this steak make it smell absolutely fantastic. I am looking forward to eating this delicious steak. Mmmm, the flavor is immaculate! All those fats and juices, blending with the herbs and butter... It's really quite good! The texture is rather tender - not tough at all! For my next bite, I think I shall try these mashed potatoes. Oooh, that's good. They're well seasoned, with just a little bit of chunkiness left to them for that authentic texture. Absolutely wonderful. Of course, this exquisite steak and potatoes meal is not complete with some onions on the side. The flavor is slightly sweet, owing to the manner in which they were cooked, but still have a slight crisp crunchiness that is absolutely delicious. Now, I would be remiss not to try all of these together, so without further ado, I shall do so. Absolutely delicious! The savory flavor of the steak is nicely complimented by the onions. The potatoes also effectively compliment the combination, taking it from something very rich to something a bit more subtle and palatable. Tying it all together, of course, is the steak sauce, which adds just enough saltiness to keep things interesting. Finally, I shall try some of this fresh salad. That's quite nice. The lettuce is very fresh with a nice crunch, and the assorted vegetables such as tomatoes, shredded carrot, and cucumber add a nice variety to the texture. The vinaigrette dressing is also quite good. It has a good flavor to it, and the salad has just the right amount to prevent it from being overpowering while still being enough. Veerrryyy refreshing indeed.
this makes SO much sense. i genuinely love your persistence in examining the cut in hometown, it's something that's easy to process as just a cool transition when playing the game just to play the game. super interested in finding out what it's hiding in future chapters..
As soon as I saw you talk about the clocks in the Chapter 2 playthrough, I was like "OH WAIT, I BET JARU'S GONNA MAKE A THEORY ABOUT THIS" I knew this was coming somehow lol. Great video, as always! :D
Also, if Kris is skipping over segments. There are censored scenes giving more weight to Spamton's theming on being a puppet, and Kris really being the one controlling what you are allowed to notice. (or itll come out as the full game does)
i like this. Maybe Kris quickly runs across the segment during the transition as to not allow us to see whatever is there and once we gain more control throughout the game, that's when we are gonna be able to see these segments of the map that we previously couldn't due to Kris trying to fight our control. Its almost like how Ralsei deviates our attention on him and kris to allow them to speak in private while we watch whatever susie is doing during that time. This seems very intentional on Toby's part as Toby did point out during susie vs. lancer fight on a live stream (ruclips.net/video/rksOYId-cNA/видео.html) that the soul appears from offscreen, which is an odd thing to point out if it wasn't something that toby wants us to dig deeper on.
Oh wow I never considered a dark world in Asgore's house! With how disconnected Asgore has been so far, it'd be interesting to see if Kris interacts with their dad more. Great theory as always!
I love the idea that the unseen classroom could be an art dark world!! I can imagine that that would be so fun to play through (if it ends up being real) :) im not sure itd be in that room however unless we access it though castle town (like with card kingdom) because of the double door rule.
This doesn't even require much stretching, and the 2 new places this indicates are the most likely anyway. Great theory! That's a detail that you can't unsee when you see it
THATS SO COOL!!! i never would've thought about this! asgore's shop was already a popular contestant for becoming a dark world, which definitely makes this theory more digestible
I’m always happy to have a longer theory because I’ll listen to them while cleaning or playing games BUT I really like the short form videos because I can find time to watch them immediately. I have long form videos from other creators that sit in my watch later list for weeks until I can find a moment to watch them. With so many in line, I don’t get to them quickly. This was much easier for me to jump on right away!
While the short form content is easier to make. I love your long videos especially with the tangents. I love putting one on while I’m at working and just listening to the whole thing.
Honestly, I wish I was so dedicated to Deltarune that I wanted to make a theory about broken clocks 😂. Frankly, I believe that most of Jaru's theories that dissect every tiny detail in Deltarune are likely about things Toby Fox made without actually thinking deeply about their purpose. But if any of these theories are right, I'll be impressed with how much detail Toby puts into foreshadowing.
I think the “canon” reason for the broken clocks is probably because it’s a small town with a slow life. I’m sure they start their days when the sun comes up and go home when the sun goes down, not bound to clocks
I mean, it would make sense. Toby Fox was always a person to give clues in the design of the game if he wasn’t finished in demo versions like he was giving the shop owners and the secret bosses in the game noticeable clues and hence on where we’re going and what other bosses are going to be in the next few dark worlds, so it wouldn’t make sense that he’s gonna be putting noticeable hints in the artwork!❤😅😊🎉
Interesting, I've never seen anyone mention this before! I personally think it's unlikely that Toby would expand Hometown by adding another street between two existing streets, since I think it was confirmed he designed Hometown's layout prior to making Chapter 1, and Hometown itself is used for such sparse reasons that I feel it would be overly bloated to include more space when we barely use the existing space for anything but pure dialogue about very little as it is.
i feel like we are building more on the light world as we progress through the story so it will have more usage besides being there as a segway between the dark worlds. Although Toby didn't mess too much with the map layout in Undertale, it could just be toby not caring too much about the layout of his games to begin with but with how meta Toby is getting with deltarune more so than with Undertale, I don't think it's too much of a stretch if Toby is manipulating the layout to fit whatever meta thing he wants to accomplish, like in this case preventing the "player" from seeing whatever is between the two segments of hometown bc Kris doesn't want us to see what's there. This is mostly to fit the narrative of this dark clock theory so don't take my yapping seriously but Toby does do these weird meta shenanigans for example how ralsei can deviate the player's attention, susie can prevent us from making a decision, or the many weird menus that these 2 chapters alone have.
While I like the idea of seeing your theories more I have to say I really love your deep dive stuff the most. I think I personally would prefer smaller theories like this to be part of larger videos where there are many small theories that link together or something to that affect. But like, obviously I loved the video regardless and thank you for putting out content that I adore! Do what works best for your schedule and you :)
It's good to see a quick interesting theory from you! I understand we've been waiting a long time for more Deltarune content, and one can only comb through the same content so many times and find new things to talk about. The chapters 3 and 4 release will be hella exciting!
You know, it's kinda funny... I can sometimes take really stupidly arbitrary grudges with people. Sometimes I can remember why for years, because it really struck a chord with me at the time it upset me so much, like how I refused to watch MatPat for years because of his film theory on the potential jail time Willy Wonka could face for his crimes (due in part to how much "Pure Imagination" influenced my childhood)... And I had a grudge against Jaru for quite some time as well. If I recall correctly, the theory that got to me on such a fundamental level was one stating that Ralsei is Kris's red goat horns, and the only reason Ralsei looks so much like Asriel is that Kris accidentally killed him and put his dust on the horns before the story. I was an extremely firm believer a while back that monsters bleed due to some dialogue in the game in Chapter 1 saying "everybody bleeds, right?" or something to that effect near the salsa tree stump. I also thought that the unused sprite in Chapter 2 was proof that monsters bleed too, but knowing what I know now about how Gerson's dust was spread on his hammer in Deltarune, and the fact that Toby isn't working alone with Temmie anymore but rather has a full team of artists, it's pretty safe to assume that somebody on the art team could have made the same assumption that I did and created that sprite by mistake.
Finally! A Jaru video that I can digest! I enjoyed the length of this a lot more; to be honest, I haven't been able to consume the super long videos lately.
I love Jaru's theories so much! Wether or not some of them (or all lol) will turn out to be true, I just love the outside of the box thinking and passion! :D
Oh I initially dismissed this video because I figured it was yet another hours-long dish of Jaru fare, but I actually got a good look at the length just now and was pleasantly surprised enough to decide to watch it.
absolutely adore theories like this. add in a followup video after some comments and reactions happen involving the theory. going over the response and react to comments. getting 2 videos out of one theory. plus we get to pick your brain a bit more when the content is relevant.
I think these shorter theories are great! While I love the longer more in depth theories aswell, you dont always have multiple free hours to watch deltarune theories, and these shorter ones reducing time between uploads could also be nice. Obviously would love more longer theories in the future but I think these shorter videos will also be well liked. Keep up the good work, love your theories!
i love the long videos (like everybody) but this short-form video was great too and i would love seeing more of them if you have other small theories :)
This was enjoyable and you kind of sold me on it. I'd love to see your take on what a dark world in the flower shop would be like. I know you get a lot of criticism when you go off the rails but it's my favorite part of your videos so I was kind of surprised you didn't give your thoughts on what these other dark worlds would be like
I had no idea what to make of those broken clocks, this interpretaton never even crossed my mind! I can't believe after years of theories I am still getting surprised about new ways we can look at things
Interesting! I’ve been thinking about the clocks as potentially pointing to things but I hadn’t worked out the physicality of it. I definitely think we have to expect a dark world in the flower shop.

I love the long bois but these sure are fine too
Some notes on the video:
Your idea that the clocks all point to dark worlds actually makes a lot of sense. The only issue I really take with it is as follows:
In smaller communities, especially gated towns with a limited population, they often tend to educate children in larger grade ranges.
@@SamHammiei doubt kris is 13, they're probably 15 like most of the class im guessing
Toby just not wanting to code a moving clock into the game:
Lmao
HAHA so real
wth this is so accurate
-10000000/10 terrible comment broke when i threw a pencil at 999999999999999999999999999 mph at it

Evil JaruJaruJ be like: 8 minutes video
I think you mean UrajUrajU XD
this makes SO much sense. i genuinely love your persistence in examining the cut in hometown, it's something that's easy to process as just a cool transition when playing the game just to play the game. super interested in finding out what it's hiding in future chapters..
cant wait for the 8 hour video
wait its 8 minutes what
"Okay hold on he's kinda cooking" -Toby Fox with a fake mustache
We're gonna analyse EVERY LAST PIXEL in this game and NO-ONE IS GOING TO STOP US
Real
As soon as I saw you talk about the clocks in the Chapter 2 playthrough, I was like "OH WAIT, I BET JARU'S GONNA MAKE A THEORY ABOUT THIS"
I knew this was coming somehow lol.
Great video, as always! :D
I wonder if that missing road that Kris skips over has more lore relevance than we realize. Great short video tho, keep it up!
A Jaru video that's less than one undertillion hours is crazy /j
Oh wow I never considered a dark world in Asgore's house! With how disconnected Asgore has been so far, it'd be interesting to see if Kris interacts with their dad more. Great theory as always!
THANK YOU for trying out shorter videos and please keep it up. i dont have the time to invest into the longer ones and this is WAY more digestable
...or the clocks are just background art that Toby didn't think he needed to animate.
I love the idea that the unseen classroom could be an art dark world!! I can imagine that that would be so fun to play through (if it ends up being real) :) im not sure itd be in that room however unless we access it though castle town (like with card kingdom) because of the double door rule.
A art dark world would be sick I hope it happens
This doesn't even require much stretching, and the 2 new places this indicates are the most likely anyway. Great theory! That's a detail that you can't unsee when you see it
YESSS THEORY TIME
THATS SO COOL!!! i never would've thought about this! asgore's shop was already a popular contestant for becoming a dark world, which definitely makes this theory more digestible
But if any of these theories are right, I'll be impressed with how much detail Toby puts into foreshadowing.
the clocks all being different is a really good observation. I hope it has some kind of meaning in the game, that would be awesome.
Yeah, I totally agree!
I prefer long form theories, but of the short ones mean we get more from you, I am all for it
I prefer this format of video over the seven hour long video essay you usually do
"oh cool a jaru video... WDYM IT IS LESS THAN 1 HOUR, what am i gonna do for the evening?"
Oh I initially dismissed this video because I figured it was yet another hours-long dish of Jaru fare, but I actually got a good look at the length just now and was pleasantly surprised enough to decide to watch it.
Shorter ones are more easy to digest but I do think I like just putting on the longer ones in the background of whatever I’m doing more
short simple theories are super fun! i love the idea of clocks pointing things out, it seems like a fun possibility
Ngl, I like these super short videos to very minor details as a format.
Do you relize how much people will need to play to beat the games before they can watch this video 0:10
absolutely adore theories like this. add in a followup video after some comments and reactions happen involving the theory. going over the response and react to comments. getting 2 videos out of one theory. plus we get to pick your brain a bit more when the content is relevant.
love all your vids jaru!!
Thanks! :D
I thought this day couldn't get any better
tobius foxius just didnt feel like changing it.
Bro is making theories on just about anything these days 😭😭😭😭🙏🙏🙏🙏
That’s what the lack of content does to a mf
I think these shorter theories are great! While I love the longer more in depth theories aswell, you dont always have multiple free hours to watch deltarune theories, and these shorter ones reducing time between uploads could also be nice. Obviously would love more longer theories in the future but I think these shorter videos will also be well liked. Keep up the good work, love your theories!
i love the long videos (like everybody) but this short-form video was great too and i would love seeing more of them if you have other small theories :)
To me dark clock theory is just clock theory
that's dark
that’s light
Just a view into your twisted mind 😈😈😈
Erm you twisted freaking cycle path
that's dim
Jaru's power to find the craziest lore drops in the most mundane shit like clocks and then making it make sense is proof he's a true game theorist
3:30 i think you forgot to rotate the classrooms?
Getting an 8min Jaru upload is the equivalent of winning one of those youtuber giveaways, love the format though.
I didn't even noticed the streets don't aligne, that's actually a really good detail!
Another video, another victory for the OG
This was enjoyable and you kind of sold me on it. I'd love to see your take on what a dark world in the flower shop would be like. I know you get a lot of criticism when you go off the rails but it's my favorite part of your videos so I was kind of surprised you didn't give your thoughts on what these other dark worlds would be like
What a solid theory!! I personally think there will absolutely be a dark world in the flower shop
Love me a new jaru video gets the brain juices flowing
I had no idea what to make of those broken clocks, this interpretaton never even crossed my mind! I can't believe after years of theories I am still getting surprised about new ways we can look at things
This actually blew my mind
Interesting! I’ve been thinking about the clocks as potentially pointing to things but I hadn’t worked out the physicality of it.
I definitely think we have to expect a dark world in the flower shop.
Asgore is definitely the Knight. And there are implications that something in the Dreemurr home provoked Kris' adoption. Likely a dead child.
This format was refreshing. A mix of both for me it's ideal
You know Jaru is serious when his video is less than an hour. You also know hes serious when its more than an hour. Jaru is always serious.
what if the video is EXACTLY 1 hour long
Loved the shorter video! It delivers the "Oh wait... *oh no* " reaction quicker (doesnt have the same punch but its still nice!).
This is actually a really fun theory! Guess we need to add clocks to the list of things to look out for going into Chapter 3 lol.
Loved the short theory! Leaves space for more creativity due to less time requires to make/to fill :)
Re: length of video. Long is my favorite, but I'll watch, appreciate, and Like any UT/DR content you care to dish out!
Fairly down to earth, consice, brings up ideas noone else has thought of
good video
Only 8 minutes????? Wow, it’s quiet refreshing. I like the smaller, bite sized videos!
a dark world in asgores flower shop is a terrifying idea when he has all those "soul" flowers
The door to the “art classroom” could lead to whatever the opening crack is on the left side of castle town
I'm literally at 0:00, paused the video, typing this and saying to myself: Oh no, this is again gonna be a good one and a dark one. Dammit :)
I think alphys’ minute hand points to a door that leads to a deeper section of ?????? But ?????? Could be part of castle town
"(sounds of applause) Genius. He's a genius."
- Emperor Francis, Oversimplified Napoleonic Wars part 2
(I'm refering to Jaru, but yeah, Toby's also a genius)
Pretty good theory! also I LOVE THE SHORT PLEASE MAKE MORE
i never even THOUGHT about how they seal dark fountains in such a short amount of time! the Delta Warriors are giving Arkham Batman a run for his absurd amount of money!
Shortest jaru theory yet??
Still a banger
this is not my jaru where is my 3 million year long video
(still a fan of the content per usual, glad to always see awesome quality from you)
I like the theory, and I love the short quick video
I can't believe an 8 minute Jaru video was released. I thought that was impossible.
Jaru I need a new video!! I listen to them while I work and fall asleep, great content, thanks for all your hard work!! I’m Looking forward to playing chapter 3!
